后文提到“one day we saw Mia, a quiet girl, eating lunch all... Ava said, ‘Why don’t we do something that really helps her?’”,体现了朋友能主动注意到他人的困境,notice“注意到”,符合“不吵闹,但能留意到需要帮助的人”的语境。
后文提到“At first, we thought about decorating lockers. But one day we saw Mia...”,说明这是一个有具体活动的学校项目,project“项目”符合语境。
结合“...our school a nicer place.”
第三段提到“invite...to join us every Friday”,说明Mia当时是独自一人吃饭。
结合“The first week, only Mia came. The next week, three more kids...”
结合“By the end of the month, we needed two big tables just to fit everyone!”
前文提到“They never try to be the loudest in the room”,后文提到 “just noticing someone”,说明受欢迎不需要刻意博取关注,“ask for attention”是固定搭配,意为“寻求关注、博取关注”,符合语境。
结合“That small act of kindness can make a big...”

Did you know that dunes (沙丘) can move? This sounds like something from a science fiction movie, but it happens in real life. However, a new study from Nanjing University found that the dunes in western China’s deserts are moving more slowly now.
According to the study, dunes form in places with a lot of sand and little water. They change shape and move depending on how the wind blows.
The team studied dunes in western China’s desert using pictures from 1986 to 2021. Satellites (卫星) took these pictures from the sky. The team found that the moving speed of dunes has slowed down by 30 percent. In the area with the fastest fall, the speed dropped from about 9 meters each year to 4.5 meters each year. The main reason is that the wind is not as strong, so it carries less sand.
Why is the wind getting weaker? Scientists say that global warming is the main cause. As the Earth’s temperature rises, the temperature difference between the polar areas (极地地区) and the equator (赤道) becomes smaller. This makes the wind blow less strongly.
This finding supports the idea of “global wind stilling”. It means wind near the ground is slowing down worldwide. ▲ . As the slower wind takes away less sand, dust storms happen less often. This helps plants grow back in dry areas.
However, slower near-ground wind can also make wind power work less well. It may also make it harder for pollution to go away, said researchers from Nanjing University.
26. Why does the writer mention “a science fiction movie” in Paragraph 1?
A. To show that dunes-moving is a new idea.
B. To show that moving dunes seem unreal but are real.
C. To prove that dunes only move in science fiction movies.
D. To compare desert dunes with scenes in science fictions.
27. According to the study, what happened to the dune movement speed in the area with the fastest fall?
A. It stayed the same over 35 years.
B. It became 30% faster than before.
C. It increased from 4.5 to 9 meters per year.
D. It dropped from 9 to 4.5 meters per year.
28. What does the underlined word “stilling” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A. Turning around B. Moving fast C. Becoming weak D. Climbing up
29. Which of the following can be put in the “ ▲ ” in the passage?
A. This slowdown is bad news for all living things.
B. This change brings both good and bad effects.
C. This leads to less sand being carried by the wind.
D. This has already been proved by many studies.
30. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Dunes Are Moving More Slowly B. Global Warming and Sandstorms
C. How Wind Shapes the Desert D. Ways to Protect the Environment
B 27. D 28. C 29. C 30. A
结合第一段“Did you know that dunes (沙丘) can move? This sounds like something from a science fiction movie, but it happens in real life.”
结合第三段“In the area with the fastest fall, the speed dropped from about 9 meters each year to 4.5 meters each year.”
根据第五段“This finding supports the idea of ‘global wind stilling’. It means wind near the ground is slowing down worldwide.”
根据第5段“It means wind near the ground is slowing down worldwide. ______. As the slower wind takes away less sand, dust storms happen less often.”
C

Rosie was more than just a dog to Paul—they had been best friends for many years. So when Rosie became seriously ill at the age of eight, Paul was heartbroken. The vets (兽医) tried every possible treatment, but none worked. They thought she had only a few months to live. However, Paul refused to give up. “She is family,” he said.
Paul decided to take matters into his own hands. He began researching late into the night, reading hundreds of scientific papers. Then he turned to artificial intelligence (AI). AI tools helped him study thousands of possible treatments in just a few days. In this way, he managed to design a special vaccine (疫苗) for Rosie’s disease—something that would have taken a team of experts years to develop. Every night, he checked the latest research and adjusted (调整) the vaccine plan carefully.
After that, Paul worked with a lab in Australia to produce the vaccine. Rosie made a full recovery. The vet was surprised and called it a miracle (奇迹). Now, two years later, she is healthy and happy.
Paul’s story made international headlines. Many people praised him, but others worried about the use of AI in medicine. They thought AI could be unsafe and cause unexpected problems. Some scientists warned that AI should be used carefully. Paul said, “AI is just a tool. It helps people solve problems when they have no other choice.”

51. My Experience with AI
AI is widely used in our daily life. People use it to answer questions, write emails, or even draw pictures. I also use AI to help with my studies.
Last month, I had difficulty understanding an English grammar rule. So I turned to an AI app called DeepSeek. In just a few minutes, the AI gave me clear explanations. Thanks to it, I finally understood the grammar and did well in the following quiz.
Using AI not only saved me time but also made learning more interesting. However, I don’t think AI should do everything for us. In my opinion, the best way is to try first by ourselves, and then use AI to check or improve our work.
