Huangyan Island, a beautiful island in the South China Sea, is small but valuable. It is home to many different living things. In 2025, China set up a national nature reserve there to protect its special environment and all kinds of sea life.
Huangyan Island has many sea animals, such as fish, sea turtles (海龟) and coral reefs (珊瑚礁). Coral reefs are very important. They provide homes for sea animals and help keep seawater clean. For this reason, they are like the “lungs”(肺) of the sea and play a key role in the sea environment. However, illegal (非法的) fishing and sea pollution once harmed the environment. Many sea animals lost their homes and the water became dirty. The nature reserve has greatly improved this situation.
The nature reserve covers the whole island and the nearby sea. Experts and workers work hard to protect the environment and sea animals. They stop illegal fishing, clean up rubbish every day and check water quality at a fixed time to keep it clean. They also do research on coral reefs and sea animals to find better ways to protect them. Sometimes they hold activities to tell people why protecting Huangyan Island is so important.
The sea environment of Huangyan Island is part of the world’s environment. A healthy sea environment helps control the climate and keep nature balanced. Everyone can help protect the island. For example, we can cut down sea pollution, refuse products from rare sea animals and ask others to join in protection.
Thanks to efforts of the government, experts and the public, the environment of Huangyan Island is becoming better and better. More sea animals have come back and the seawater is much cleaner. It has become a good example of sea environmental protection in China and sets a good model for other places.

C.Because they provide homes and help clean the seawater. D.Because they can stop all kinds of sea pollution quickly.
22.What is the main task of the experts and workers in the reserve?
A.To catch more rare sea animals for research. B.To build new houses for people on the island.
C.To protect the environment and sea living things. D.To make more products from coral reefs and turtles.
23.What can we learn about the island’s sea environment?
A.It has nothing to do with the world’s environment.
B.A healthy one helps control the climate and keep balance.
C.It is getting worse because of the nature reserve.
D.Only the government can help improve it.
24.What does the underlined word “It” in the last sentence refer to?
A.The activity to stop illegal fishing. B.The clean seawater around Huangyan Island.
C.The environment of Huangyan Island now. D.The research on coral reefs and sea animals.

Jane Goodall, the famous primatologist (灵长类动物学家) who shaped the world’s knowledge of chimpanzees, has passed away at the age of 91.
Jane was born in 1934 in England. When she was young, she would spend hours sitting in a tree, with library books, dreaming of Africa. 26 While in the capital of the country, she met Leakey, a famous anthropologist (人类学家). Before this, it was believed that only humans made and used tools. 28 She documented sibling rivalry (同胞竞争) and the close relationships between mothers and their young. What she found changed how the world saw the emotional and social complexity (复杂性) of all animals.
In her later years, Goodall spent much of her time speaking about protecting the natural world. 29 With her influence and inspiration, millions of students have taken on the challenge of making the world a better place.

【答案】例文
AI and My Study
AI has developed quickly and is very helpful in our study. It can help us look up words, explain difficulties, and practice spoken English.
However, everything has two sides. If we depend on AI too much, we will stop thinking on our own. Copying answers from AI makes us lazy.
So we should use AI in the right way—ask for learning methods, not answers. We must still work hard and think independently. Only then can AI truly help us improve.

In the heart of Cambodia, the ancient temples of Angkor Wat have stood for hundreds of years as a great achievement of human creativity and skill. These old stone buildings are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, these stone buildings have been getting damaged by nature for centuries. A wonderful change is now happening, thanks to a team from China—the Angkor Conservation Team.
The team, sent by the Chinese government, is a group of “cultural relic (遗迹) doctors” with a lot of experience.

What she found changed how the world saw the emotional and social complexity (复杂性) of all animals.
In her later years, Goodall spent much of her time speaking about protecting the natural world. 29 With her influence and inspiration, millions of students have taken on the challenge of making the world a better place.
