A study shows that the more people use the Internet, the more they may feel lonely. The study was carried out by two researchers, Robert Kraut and his team. They found that even people who spent just a few hours a week on the Internet felt more lonely than those who spent little time on it.
The researchers thought that it might be because people who are already lonely may be more likely to use the Internet to find friends. But they also found that people who spent a lot of time chatting online felt lonelier than those who spent less time.
Another reason might be that when people use the Internet, they spend less time with their real-life friends. As a result, their relationships with their real-life friends may become weaker. However, it doesn’t mean that the Internet is bad. We can use it to communicate with our friends and family, get information, and have fun. But we should also make sure to spend enough time with our real-life friends.
56. What did Robert Kraut and his team study?
A. How to make friends on the Internet.

C. People who never use the Internet feel the loneliest.
D. People who spend little time on the Internet feel the loneliest.
58. Why might people feel lonelier when using the Internet?
A. Because they have no real-life friends.
B. Because they don’t know how to use the Internet properly.
C. Because they spend less time with real-life friends.
D. Because they only chat with strangers online.
59. What does the passage suggest?
A. We should stop using the Internet.
B. We should only use the Internet to get information.
C. We should spend more time with real-life friends.
D. We should make as many online friends as possible.

Some people think that success is only for those with talent or those who grow up in right family, and others believe that success mostly down to luck. I’m not going to say luck, talent, and circumstances don’t come into play because they do. Some people are born into the right family while others are born with great intelligence, and that’s just the reality of how life is.
However, to succeed in life, one first need is to set a practical goal. In addition to that, to get really good at something, one needs to spend at least 10,000 hours studying and practising. In order to become great at certain things, one should put in even more time, which only a few people can do.
This is a big reason why many successful people advise you to do something you love. If you don’t enjoy what you do, it is going to feel like unbearable pain and will likely make you give up before you become good at it.
Whatever you do, if you want to become great at it, you need to work day in and day out, almost to the point of addiction, and over along period of time. If you are not willing to put in the time and work, don’t expect to receive any rewards. Hard work will not guarantee you the success you may want, but it’ll guarantee you will become really good at whatever you put all that work into.
61. Paragraph 1 mainly talks about ______.
A. the reasons for success B. the meaning of success
C. the standards of success D. the importance of success
62. In Paragraph 2, the underlined word “that” refers to ______.
A. being good at something B. setting a practical goal
C. putting in more time D. succeeding in life
63. Successful people suggest doing what one loves because ______.
A. work makes one feel pain
B. one tends to enjoy his work
C. one gives up his work easily
D. it takes a lot of time to succeed
64. What can we infer from Paragraph 4?
A. Successful people like to show their great skills.
B. People sometimes succeed without luck or talent.
C. People need to achieve success at the cost of life.
D. It helps to think that luck or talent leads to success.
65. What is the theme of the passage?
A. Having a goal is the key to success.
B. Being good is different from being great.
C. One cannot succeed without time and practice.
D. Luck, talent and family help to achieve success.
D
When faced with the decision to get out of bed or have a few more minutes of sleep, which do you choose? Believe it or not, that decision could make a world of difference in the rest of your day.
About 85 percent of Americans use an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings, according to a sleep researcher Till Roennenber. And while there are no official numbers on snoozing (打盹), a quick survey of social media makes it clear that hitting the snooze button is a popular choice for many people.
As to how the snooze button will affect your day, scientists have mixed opinions. Some scientists think people who hit the snooze button in the mornings are actually clever, creative and happy while some said that hitting the snooze button will ruin your life, or at least your day, “I feel that hitting the snooze button has got to be one of the worst things that ever happened to human sleep,” researcher Jonathan Horowitz said, “The chances of you snoozing’ and actually experiencing a meaningful rest are close to zero.
According to some sleep experts, when hitting the snooze button, you are in fact confusing your body and mind, and throwing yourself into a deep state of being sleepy. The body needs some time to wake up, so, when returning to what will be a light sleep for a brief period of time, you are putting your body back into a sleep mode before waking it again. At that point your body won’t know what it wants, resulting in a sort of half awaken state.
If you really want to take advantage of an alarm clock, the key is to form a healthy sleep cycle. Focus your efforts on getting enough sleep each night and waking up at the same time each day so that when your alarm goes off you feel rested.
66. What can we infer about hitting the snooze button from the first two paragraphs?
A. People do it just for fun. B. It is a common practice.
C. People take it seriously. D. It is a wise decision.
67. Which of the following can replace the underlined part in Paragraph 4?
A. cheating B. improving C. damaging D. relaxing
68. What do some sleep experts think of hitting the snooze button?
A. It brings people a meaningful rest.
B. It turns people into lazier ones.
C. It helps people adapt to a new day.
D. It affects people to some extent.
69. What is the author’s suggestion according to the last paragraph?
A. Forming a good sleep habit. B. Waking up a bit earlier.
C. Taking another light sleep. D. Adding an extra alarm.
70. What is the best title for the text?
A. Secrets Behind Snoozing in the Morning
B. Ways to Keep Refreshed After Wake-up
C. The Snooze Button: a Good Choice?
D. Snooze to Avoid the Light Sleep Mode
第四部分:写作
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题。
I still remember my first day of second grade. I was led to a classroom. No teacher yet. Girls talking and laughing. Boys playing games.
I took some paper and a pencil, picked a desk, and went to work. Minutes later, a girl came over and sat on top of my desk. “What are you doing?” she asked.
I am doing Fun with Number,” I replied. Then I rose from my seat to get my pencil sharpener. I had no idea that when I stood, the desk would fall over and hurt her leg.
Her name was Lucy. From that day on we got to know each other, and she became my best friend. Now we have been close friends for more than 60 years. We often get together and recall the past.
Some TV advertisements try to tell us what children need for school, new shoes, clothes, and schoolbags. But really, children’s needs are simple. Besides the basics — to be fed, cared for, and loved — they need the gift of friendship.
For years, I feared how people saw me. But one day, I finally understood I didn’t need to be smart or pretty or popular, but just needed to be kind.
My grandson William recently finished his preschool and received a prize for “friendship”. Even an Olympic medal wouldn’t make me prouder! I think children need to know that they are loved. They need to know that they have all they need and that the best way to win friends is to be kind.
71. When and where did the author meet Lucy for the first time?
