What does the sentence “I'm disappearing” tell us about the feeling of the speaker?
Read paragraph 2 and answer.
It tells us that the speaker feels sad, helpless, and desperate. It is crying for help before it is too late.
Further thinking
Are the natural wonders really crying aloud?
What figure of speech (修辞手法) is used?
What feeling does this way of writing give you?
No, they aren’t. The passage uses personification to show the serious situation.
It makes me feel as if the natural wonders are talking to me. I feel sad for them and want to help them.
Personification (拟人).
Think and share.
1. In Frozen, the world is cold and full of ice and snow. In Waterworld, the world is covered in water, with no land. The writer mentions the two films to show the serious problem of climate change.
