Transform lives — become an Ollie Coach!
Despite the very best efforts of our education system, it is struggling to cope with fully supporting the emotional well-being of our children. Have you ever felt that you would love to help, but were powerless to act? Well, here’s your opportunity to do something positive.
Comprehensive training
The Ollie School plans to build an army of coaches who can make the world a better place, one child at a time. Ollie Coaching leads all our youngsters to a place where they can thrive in the chaos of modern living.
Learn with flexibility
So many schools are battling to provide an appropriate mental health environment, and busy parents are up against it in our fast-paced lives ruled by social media. That’s why Alison Knowles, who was challenged throughout her life with undiagnosed dyslexia (诵读困难), decided to set up the Ollie School. The Ollie methodology is all about empowering children to seek solutions and take control of their emotions, rather than be controlled by them. The Ollie methodology will identify which technique will work on each individual child — no one-size-fits-all approach here.
Licence to help
The Ollie School graduates are awarded a certified qualification in NLP, but only those who successfully pass the assessment will get a licence to work as an Ollie Coach. Courses are a combination of online sessions and in-person ones, offering the best of both worlds, with a limited number of trainees to maximise learning potential. If helping children and their families to be more emotionally resilient appeals to you, contact Ollie School to find out more.
Get in touch
Get in touch to train to become an Ollie Coach, find a coach in your area, or book an event. Visit our official website or email info@ollieandhissuperpowers.com.

Hungarian-British writer David Szalay who was born in Canada, won the Booker Prize for fiction on Monday for Flesh, the story of an ordinary man’s life over several decades in which what isn’t on the page is just as important as what is.
Szalay, 52, beat five other finalists, including favorites Andrew Miller and Kiran Desai, to take the desired literary award, which brings a 50,000-pound (about $67,000) prize money and a big boost to the winner’s sales and profile.
He was chosen from 153 submitted novels by a panel of judges that included Irish writer Roddy Doyle and film star Sarah Jessica Parker. Doyle said Flesh — a book “about living, and the strangeness of living” — emerged as the judges’ unanimous (一致同意的) choice after a five-hour meeting.
Szalay’s book recounts the life of taciturn (沉默寡言的) István, from his teenage years through time as a struggling immigrant in Britain to a resident of London high society. The author said, “I want to write about a Hungarian immigrant, about life as a physical experience, and about what it’s like to be a living body in the world.”
Accepting his award at London’s Old Billingsgate — a former fish market transformed into a glitzy event venue — Szalay thanked the judges for rewarding his “risky” novel. He recalled asking his editor “whether she could imagine a novel called ’Flesh’ winning the Booker Prize.” “You have your answer,” he said with a smile.
Doyle, who chaired the judges, said István belongs to a group overlooked in fiction: working-class men. He said that since reading it, he looks more closely when he walks past bouncers (保安) standing in the doorways of Dublin pubs.
24. What is typical of David Szalay’s novel Flesh?
A. It adopts a particularly strange narrative style.
B. It mainly focuses on the life of an average man.
C. It explores life primarily as an intellectual pursuit.
D. It is based on the author’s own life as a celebrity.
25. What can we infer about the panel of judges?
A. Its members disagreed on the winner.
B. Its members were former Booker Prize winners.
C. Its members have different professional backgrounds.
D. It only valued literary quality when choosing the winner.
26. What do we know from Szalay’s speech?
A. He was fully confident of winning the prize.
B. He didn’t expect his novel to win the award.
C. He was encouraged by his editor’s early support.
D. He thought experimental novels were losing popularity.
27. Which statement is supported by the passage?
A. Flesh beat Roddy Doyle’s work to win the Booker Prize.
B. Szalay aimed to explore life as a physical experience via his novel.
C. The panel chair said the book focuses on an overlooked working-class man.
D. The novel uses detailed appearance descriptions to show the hero’s changes.

In a groundbreaking shift for agricultural practices, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a potential game-changer in addressing global food security challenges. Proponents highlight that recent advancements in machine learning are enabling farmers to optimize crop yields, reduce resource waste, and adapt to climate change with unprecedented precision. AI-driven technologies, such as drone monitoring and soil sensors, collect real-time data on crop health, which is analyzed by algorithms to generate personalized recommendations. A pilot project in Kenya, using AI-powered mobile apps, has been reported to help small-scale farmers increase corn yields significantly while cutting water usage.
Beyond yield improvement, AI is poised (准备好的) to revolutionize supply chain management. Predictive analysis tools forecast weather patterns and market demand, allowing more efficient planning to reduce post-harvest losses. Additionally, AI models are being developed to breed more durable crops, a step considered critical for vulnerable regions.
However, this optimistic outlook is not universally shared. While experts like Dr. Emma Reed, a lead researcher at the Food Innovation Institute, argue that “AI is indispensable for building a sustainable food system,” critics raise serious concerns. Dr. Benjamin Carter, an agricultural ethicist, warns of a “digital divide,” questioning the equity of this technological leap. He emphasizes that widespread adoption needs to ensure smallholder farmers in developing countries have access to affordable technology and training, which is far from guaranteed. Furthermore, skeptics point to deeper hazards: over-reliance on complex algorithms could weaken traditional farming knowledge and create vulnerability, such as data privacy issues or system failures during cyber-attacks. They also question whether the primary beneficiaries will be large agribusinesses rather than smallholders, potentially worsening economic inequality.
Thus, the integration of AI into agriculture presents a complex dilemma. It offers powerful tools for efficiency and durability, yet its trajectory (轨迹) demands careful inspection. The central challenge lies not merely in technological advancement but in navigating the social, ethical, and economic implications to ensure that the AI-driven future of farming is both productive and equitable.
28. Which of the following is a claimed outcome of the pilot project in Kenya?
A. It has completely replaced human labour in corn farming.
B. It has shortened the time needed for corn planting greatly.
C. It has helped farmers achieve a significant increase in corn yields.
D. It has introduced advanced soil sensors to local farmers in the region.
29. What can be implied from Dr. Benjamin Carter’s view on the “digital divide”?
A. He thinks market competition will soon bridge the existing digital gap.
B. He believes current measures will effectively deal with the digital divide.
C. He suspects AI may widen the gap between different groups of farmers.
D. He considers technical challenges more serious than the digital divide.
30. What is the author’s likely attitude towards the role of AI in agriculture?
A. Fully supportive without any reservations.
B. Totally skeptical because of its potential risks.
C. Completely neutral and unconcerned about the debate.
D. Optimistic but mindful of the accompanying challenges.
31. What’s mainly talked about in the passage?
A. The influence of the digital divide on modern agriculture.
B. AI can enhance crop yields and agricultural supply chains.
C. Potential risks of over-reliance on AI-driven technologies.
D. The potential benefits and risks of AI in agricultural practices.

The recent discovery of 2025 PN7, a quasi-moon (准卫星) orbiting near Earth, shows both the dynamic nature of our solar system and the advancing capabilities of astronomical observation. This small object, recently detected by the Pan-STARRS telescope, has likely been a faint, unseen companion to our planet for about six decades. Its elusiveness is due to its small size, estimated at 62 feet in diameter, making it the smallest-known object of its kind. It only becomes detectable during its rare close approaches, such as swinging within 186,000 miles from Earth.
The existence of 2025 PN7 holds significant scientific value. Firstly, it challenges previous assumptions, suggesting there may be no lower size limit for quasi-satellites, implying many more such small companions could remain undiscovered. Secondly, its origin is of great interest. Like the previously discovered Kamo’oalewa — a target of China’s Tianwen-2 mission — 2025 PN7 is hypothesized to be a rocky, natural object, potentially a fragment from the moon or part of the so-called Arjuna asteroid (小行星) group, which shares Earth-like orbits around the sun. Studying these bodies can unlock secrets of the history of lunar impacts and the composition of near-Earth objects. Furthermore, quasi-moons like 2025 PN7 present practical opportunities for space exploration. As stated by researcher Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, their accessible orbits make them ideal testing grounds for unmanned missions, allowing for the development of planetary exploration technologies with a relatively modest investment. They pose no impact threat, while they serve as convenient stepping stones for deeper space ventures.
In conclusion, the discovery of 2025 PN7 is more than merely cataloging a new quasi-satellite. It highlights the endless surprises within our solar system and opens new avenues to understanding planetary formation and advancing space technology, proving that even the smallest astronomical neighbours can yield profound insights.
32. What does the underlined word “elusiveness” in the first paragraph probably mean?
A. Hard-to-detect nature. B. Fast-moving characteristic.
C. Long-existing property. D. Shape-changing feature.
33. Why does the author mention Kamo’oalewa in the passage?
A. To illustrate a possible composition and origin of quasi-moons.
B. To compare the exploration plans of different space agencies.
C. To prove that all quasi-satellites are targets of space missions.
D. To warn about the potential dangers of near-Earth objects.
34. According to the passage, what is a potential practical use for quasi-moons like 2025 PN7?
A. Providing rare resources for space research.
B. Being used as bases for human space exploration.
C. Helping predict the movement of near-Earth asteroids.
D. Serving as test sites for technologies of unmanned missions.
35. What can be inferred from the passage about the future study of quasi-moons?
A. It may help scientists identify the specific type of 2025 PN7’s origin.
B. It will mainly focus on assessing their possible threat to Earth.
C. It may deepen scientists’ understanding of the moon’s impact history.
D. It will be stopped due to the high cost of developing exploration tools.

For years, public health campaigns have promoted the “exercise is medicine” concept, emphasizing the prevention of diseases. It is a message based on strong scientific evidence. You would think the promise of long-term health should be the best motivator.
36 The WHO’s goal of a 10% reduction in inactivity by 2025 is far from being met, as data shows over 30% of adults and 80% of teenagers remain below recommended activity levels. We’re not just missing targets — we’re slipping further behind.
So, what went wrong? 37 Some experts are now asking a more fundamental question: have we been promoting physical activity all wrong?
Benjamin Rigby, a public health researcher, argues that only framing movement as a way to prevent disease oversimplifies why people actually choose to be active. “The truth is, people move for many more reasons,” says Rigby. “We want to play, to laugh, and to explore. Ultimately, to have fun and feel good.” 38
Recent studies have shown that messages highlighting short-term rewards — like stress relief or fun with friends — are more motivating than those about distant health risks. 39 For instance, phrases like “a little movement for a little mood improvement” directly targeting the desire to feel better now, or “physical activity is an opportunity to connect with others” to capture social-based motivations.
Yet, health-based narratives remain appealing to institutions. Their effects are easier to measure, and they fit the serious tone of official messages. 40 With the next global health target approaching, a radical change is essential. It’s time to stop prescribing physical activity as a bitter pill and start promoting it as a reliable source of joy and human connection.
A. But the reality is not matching this expectation.
B. Therefore, measuring the “fun” in campaigns is a new challenge.
C. From complex policies to daily habits, explanations vary widely.
D. For example, some apps have successfully made exercise social.
E. However, this serious tone often fails to connect with people’s real feelings.
F. This crucial human element is often missing from mainstream health advice.
G. So, public messaging should highlight these immediate positive experiences.

My Unexpected Gift of Hope
For over twenty years, I have worked in a high school front office. I saw many students come and go, but some left a lasting impression. Scott was one of them. He was a good-natured, intelligent, and remarkably self-reliant fifteen-year-old. I soon learned that after his mother enrolled him, she left him in the care of his slightly older brother. This was clearly not a new arrangement. Scott understood his responsibilities and promptly got a job at a local grocery store.
Just before Christmas, Scott was chosen for a “Shop with a Hero” program. Selected based on a letter he had written to himself, he was to be given $200 to spend on shopping, accompanied by a local police officer or firefighter. His only problem was transportation; the store was on the far side of the next county, and no one from the school could volunteer to drive him.
My heart ached to help, but my own situation was very bad. Newly single, buried in debt, and living paycheck to paycheck, I had barely any money. My wallet was empty, my bank account held about $12, and I only had enough gas for ten more miles. Yet, looking at Scott, who had far less, I thought, “How can I NOT help him?” I didn’t know how, but I was determined.
On my way home, I withdrew my last $10 for gas. I explained the situation to my daughter, who agreed to come with us. We picked up Scott and drove to the store. Inside, he joined the excited crowd. A hero was assigned to him, and this man seemed to understand Scott’s circumstances intuitively (直觉地). He was wonderful, guiding Scott as he carefully selected gifts for others. When Scott finally emerged, his cart full and his face radiant with joy, my eyes were filled with tears. His hero came over, his face beaming as he praised what a fine young man Scott was. The pride I felt was immeasurable.

As I typed, I felt a profound sense of blessing. It was a magical feeling and it seemed that the true gift I received was a restored sense of hope. Though financially broke, I felt richer than ever. I emailed the story to the editorial department and, because Scott was beloved by all, to the school staff.
Learning about my situation, a kind donor sent me a box of Christmas gifts. Inside the box was a large bag of sliced ham and an envelope with a single $10 bill. I stood in disbelief, crying about the kindness. This experience taught me a powerful lesson: when we give of ourselves, expecting nothing, our reward is great. I had set out to help Scott but ended up receiving the greatest gift of all — renewed hope and the profound understanding that we are all connected.
