To survive the flood, they first used the dining table to block the door and stop the floodwater from rushing in. Then they took emergency supplies like food and water, and moved to the second floor. Finally, they called the emergency rescue team and waited for help.
They should stay at home, because it is too dangerous to drive through the flood.
"Dad and mum, I am scared, " Mary cried sadly.
" Don't worry. I have prepared the necessary disaster supplies, " mum said calmly.
"Let's move to the second floor. It is much safer there, " Dad explained patiently.
Mary would feel nervous, worried and scared; Mum and dad would feel anxious but calm /hopeful.

After a brief discussion, Mum and Dad made the decision.
They chose to stay at home, because driving through the rushing floodwater would be too dangerous. “I’m scared,” Mary cried sadly as the water rose outside. “Don’t worry,” Mum said patiently, “I’ve prepared emergency supplies.” Dad added calmly, “Let’s move to the second floor—it’s much safer there, and I have called the rescue team” They propped(用...撑住) the heavy dining table against the door to block the incoming water, grabbed their emergency bags, and hurried upstairs. Though still nervous and worried, they felt hopeful, waiting anxiously for the rescue team to arrive.
When facing natural disasters, a family that stays together will always find ways to survive.
