Spring break is a much-anticipated (备受期待的) holiday for middle school students. It offers a break from the daily busy classes, homework, and exams. This year students in Deyang had three days off for the spring break, from April 1st to April 3rd. Combined (合并) with the three-day Qingming Festival, the break became longer.
Spring break provides a big opportunity for rest. After months of hard study, students need time to relax and get their energy back. Sleeping in, reading for pleasure, or just doing nothing can greatly reduce stress.
The break is a perfect time to develop new interests and hobbies. My classmate, Li Hua, spent his spring break learning traditional paper-cutting from his grandmother. At first, he found it difficult to cut the paper cleanly. However, he practiced patiently every afternoon. By the end of the week, he created a beautiful window decoration of a spring bird. This experience not only taught him a new skill but also helped him understand the value of patience and focus. Another friend, Wang Fang, volunteered at a local library. She helped organize books and read stories to young children. She felt great joy in sharing stories and learned how meaningful it was to give back to the community.
Spring break allows for quality time with family and friends. Without the stress of schoolwork, students can build their relationships through shared activities and conversations. When students return to school, they are often refreshed, happier, and ready to learn.
24. How long did the students in Deyang have in total for the break this year?
A. Three days. B. Four days. C. Six days. D. Seven days.
25. What can we know from the third paragraph?
A. The spring break was a good time to prepare for exams.
B. Wang Fang worked as a volunteer and felt happy to help others.
C. Li Hua and Wang Fang both learned new skills during the break.
D. Li Hua learned paper-cutting from his teacher and gave up halfway.
26. According to the passage, how can students spend the spring break?
①Having a good sleep. ②Reading for pleasure.
③Taking extra classes. ④Developing new hobbies.
⑤Serving the public. ⑥Spending time with family.
A. ①②③④⑤ B. ①②③⑤⑥ C. ①③④⑤⑥ D. ①②④⑤⑥
27. What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards spring break?
A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Worried. D. Uninterested.
C
When we feel stressed, many of us eat junk food to feel better. But a new study says this might not be a good idea. The study found that eating a lot of fatty foods can change animals’ brains in ways that increase their anxiety levels.
Christopher Lowry, who led the study, says we knew junk food could make us fat, but we didn’t know it could also make us feel more nervous.
In an earlier study, they found that large mice that ate a lot of fat had more signs of brain inflammation (炎症) and acted more nervously. To better understand why a high-fat diet might cause anxiety, the researchers put some mice into two groups. Half got a standard diet of about 11% fat for nine weeks, and the others got a high-fat diet of 45% fat. They looked at the mice’s gut (肠) health and then gave the mice tests to see how they behaved. When compared to the control group, the group eating a high-fat diet, not surprisingly, were heavier. They also had fewer types of good bacteria (细菌) in their guts. And they had more of certain things in their brains, which have something to do with stress and anxiety.
________ Fats from food like fish can be good for our brains. But his research in animals suggests that too much fat, especially at a young age, might make the brain more likely to suffer from anxiety now and later in life.
28. What does the underlined word “anxiety” refer to?
A. Excitement and happiness. B. A type of delicious fatty food.
C. Physical strength and energy. D. Feelings of worry or nervousness.
29. What can we learn about the study?
A. Mice in both groups had the same diet.
B. Researchers tested the mice’s behavior.
C. The study lasted for less than two months.
D. One third of the mice got a standard diet of 11% fat.
30. Which shows the relationship between the weight of a mouse (a) and how much fat it took in (b)?
A. B. C. D.
31. Which of the following can be put in “________” in the last paragraph?
A. Lowry explains that not all fats are bad.
B. Lowry explains that some fats can reduce worry.
C. Lowry believes that high-fat diets hurt the brain.
D. Lowry believes that a healthy diet is the key to happiness.
D
①Plants need to eat just like animals do. However, unlike animals, plants cannot move around to find food. Instead, they have developed special ways to get “food” from things around them.
②One of the main ways plants eat is through photosynthesis (光合作用). This process involves using sunlight, water and CO2 to create glucose (葡萄糖), which is a type of sugar that plants use for energy. Chlorophyll (叶绿素) is responsible for catching sunlight and turning it into energy. Trees are some of the largest and longest-lived photosynthetic plants on the earth. They play an important role in controlling the earth’s climate by taking in CO2 from the air and giving off O2.
③Another way for plants to eat is through their roots. Roots take in water and other things from the soil, which are then sent to the rest of the plant. This process is important for the growth and development of plants, as it offers them the nutrients (营养物) they need to live. For example, some plants are able to live in dry environments. Their roots are used to absorb water from the soil, and they have thick leaves to store water.
④Carnivorous (食肉的) plants are a great example of how plants get their food. Some plants eat insects (昆虫) and other small animals. These plants have special leaves that catch their food. For example, the pitcher plant is a kind of carnivorous plant. Its leaves are in a special shape, with a smooth surface that makes it difficult for insects to climb out once they have fallen in.
⑤In a word, plants need food like animals but cannot move to find it. As a result, they have developed special methods to take in nutrients from their surroundings. Primarily, they use photosynthesis to turn sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy with the help of chlorophyll. Secondly, they absorb water and minerals from the soil through their roots. Also, some special carnivorous plants have been used to catching and digesting insects as another way to get food.
32. Which sentence uses absorb with the same meaning as the underlined word in Paragraph 3?
absorb ①吸收 ②理解,掌握(信息) ③承担(费用等) ④使全神贯注
A. It is difficult for me to absorb what the teacher says in English class.
B. The grass can absorb enough rain water in rainy season.
C. Can you absorb our next month’s travel?
D. He was absorbed in his work.
33. How does the writer prove the idea that “Carnivorous plants have special leaves that catch their food.” in Paragraph 4?
A. By comparing facts. B. By telling a story.
C. By offering an example. D. By listing numbers.
34. What’s the structure of the text? (P1= Paragraph 1…)
A. B. C. D.
35. What’s the writer’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To describe how plants get nutrients and energy.
B. To explain the process of photosynthesis.
C. To talk about the importance of roots in plants’ growth.
D. To tell people why they should learn biology.

Do you often order take-out food? Have you ever tried a “take-out P.E. class”? This new kind of service was popular during 2025s summer vacation.
To have a “take-out P.E. class”, you order it on social media. The coach will then come with all the things needed for the exercise. The classes include simple fitness training and sports like basketball and tennis. One-on-one lessons usually cost 200 to 400 yuan, Guangming Daily reported.
“It’s so convenient,” said a woman surnamed Wang whose child is in 3rd grade. She used to spend an hour taking her child to the gym. “Now, the coach comes to the open area of our neighborhood, and I can watch from the balcony (阳台),” she said.
“Take-out P.E. classes” are not only convenient, but also helpful. “Before, my child often fell down when jumping rope. After three weeks of classes, he improved from 120 jumps a minute to 160,” Wang said. The coach makes a personalized (为个人特制) plan for each child. This is more helpful than big classes.
But this new service also has problems. The Paper reported that most classes take place in neighborhood squares or parks. The ground is often too hard for running and jumping. What’s more, many people walk by, and sometimes cars pass through. This can be dangerous.
Parents who order these classes have children preparing for high school entrance exams (中考). This is an “exam-first” way of thinking, which has changed the true meaning of exercise, noted Xinhua.

根据前文“He was so impolite to his neighbors”,结合语境,此处表示“没有人”,nobody符合语义。

根据原文“No matter how impolite he was, the couple always smiled at him and said hello politely”,邻居一直主动礼貌问好,原本不回应的史密斯先生很难继续不回应,it作形式主语时真正主语需要用不定式结构,not to say符合语义和语法。to say语义相反,to talk不符合say hello的固定搭配,not speaking不符合该句式的语法要求。
【19题详解】
句意:几周之后,史密斯先生总是很开心在大厅见到这对夫妇。

A. Three days. B. Four days. C. Six days. D. Seven days.

A. ①②③④⑤ B. ①②③⑤⑥ C. ①③④⑤⑥ D. ①②④⑤⑥

【答案】28. D 29. B 30. A 31. A

【答案】32. B 33. C 34. B 35. A
【解析】

题目问第四段作者如何证明“食肉植物有特殊的叶子来捕捉食物”这个观点,原文第四段提到“For example, the pitcher plant is a kind of carnivorous plant. Its leaves are in a special shape, with a smooth surface that makes it difficult for insects to climb out once they have fallen in.”,作者通过举猪笼草的例子证明观点。

Every day when Mike and Sally play outside, they see a man walking. He walks with a white stick. He cannot see. He is blind. It always puzzles them. “How can he walk on a busy street?” asks Mike. “It must be very dangerous,” says Sally.
The boy and the girl watch as the man walks. He walks slowly. He walks to the traffic light and then stops. When the light turns green, he starts walking again. He does not hit anything as he walks. “It’s amazing. And it must be scary too,” says Sally. “He knows where to go and where to stop as if he could see.”
One day, the blind man was passing by, and he heard the children talking. He stopped in front of their house. “Hello kids,” he said, “I hear you talking about how I walk.”
“Yes, we always wonder how you know where to go and when to stop on such a busy street. It is safer to stay indoors.”
The man smiled, “I trained myself to listen very well. I listen with my ears for every sound when I am out of the house. I use my cane (手杖) for me too. When my stick bumps (碰到) into something, I know to stop and go around it.”
The man continued, “Yes, it is safer to stay indoors. But I love to walk. I love the hot sun. I love the smell of flowers. I love to hear the birds singing. Most of all, I love to get some exercise.”
Sally said, “Thank you. We have learned something today. We think you are a brave man. We can see. We can walk. We will get some exercise, too. You are a good example for us to follow.”
