In China, safety education is becoming more and more important now. The day of safety education for primary and middle school students falls on Monday in the last week of March each year. It helps students learn more about what they should do to keep themselves safe. What are the accidents at school? Take a look.
A stampede always happens in crowded places. When students around you begin to push, just stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around.

When there’s a fire, leave the classroom quickly. It’s better to put something wet over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won’t breathe in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them cough and they can’t breathe. That’s very dangerous! So when you want to get out, you should make yourself close to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air. Remember, the most important thing is to stay calm in a fire.

You may feel maths is difficult and boring. Is it because the way you look at maths is not right? Here’s the beauty of maths.
Many people today want to have beautiful looks. But there is maths in beautiful human bodies. The length from your head to your belly button (肚脐) and the length from your belly button to your feet have a ratio (比率) that is always around 0.618. This is the golden ratio, and we can see it everywhere, like in nature, music, and drawings.
In Chinese poems, we can also see the beauty of numbers, which reminds (使想起) us of a line, “ __▲__ ” — the number shows how fast Li Bai travelled and how happy he felt.
Besides numbers, beauty can also be found in curves (曲线). Just like sine curves, they go to the two opposite (相反的) directions and never stop. While the tangent curve is like a waterfall. That really “going down three thousand feet from on high”. If you do a maths problem and get that curve, you’ll feel excited and fun.
What’s more, formulae (公式) can also be beautiful. Take a look at Euler’s Formula:
eiπ+1=0. The number “e” is an irrational number (无理数), whose digits (位数) go on and on and never stop. “π” is also such an irrational number. However, when these two numbers come together, things become different!
1. Which line can be best filled in “ __▲__ ”?
A. 碧玉妆成一树高 B. 千里家书动隔秋 C. 轻舟已过万重山 D. 百万雄师过大江
2. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to this passage?
A. Maths can lead to beautiful human bodies. B. Beauty can only be found in maths curves.
C. An irrational number’s digits will stop. D. The golden ratio can be found in bodies.
3. Which picture shows the tangent curve?
A. B. C. D.
4. What can be inferred from the passage?
A. eiπ isn’t an irrational number. B. Li Xing thinks maths is difficult and boring.
C. We seldom see the golden ratio in the drawings. D. The tangent curve is always three thousand feet high.
5. Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
A. This Is How Maths Like B. Doing Maths Problems
C. Beauty in Maths D. Numbers in Poems

From May to November, six beach houses have fallen down in North Carolina’s Outer Banks — a troubling sign of how erosion (侵蚀) continues to put a toll on the state’s coastal villages.
The most recent collapse (倒塌) happened between last Thursday and Friday after a storm caused powerful waves along Rodanthe. The house was empty, and officials have been in contact with the house owner. Less than a mile away, three other homes had fallen down in September. Since 2020, a total of 11 houses in the area have been washed away into the ocean.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore said strong winds, large waves, as well as rising sea levels — which are caused by climate change — are causing beaches on the Outer Banks to wash away. “Many buildings close to the beach in Rodanthe are either partially or fully covered with ocean water on a regular basis,” the Seashore said.
It’s a problem faced by coastal communities around the country. In North Carolina, over 750homes along the state’s beaches are considered in danger from erosion, according to an August report released by the state’s Department of Environmental Quality and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Erosion in these coastal villages affects tourism (旅游业) and destroys sea turtles’ home, and when homes fall down, it leaves ruins (废墟). The situation is expected to worsen as a result of rising sea levels and more coastal storms.
National Seashore officials have warned owners of unsafe houses to either strengthen their home’s supports or move to a safer location if possible.
1. What does the underlined phrase “put a toll on” in paragraph 1 mean?
A. Cause damage to. B. Give way to.
C. Bring more people to. D. Make more contributions to.
2. What can we know about the most recent collapse?
A. Six houses were washed away. B. It happened because a storm hit.
C. It resulted in many people missing. D. Police failed to contact the house owner.
3. What might put the beach houses in danger?
A. The daily effects of winds and waves. B. The loss of wildlife’s home.
C. The ruins of houses left on beaches. D. The weak structure of the houses.
4. What should be done according to the local officials?
A. Take measures to control rising sea levels.
B. Solve the problem by protecting the ecosystem.
C. Reduce the effect on tourism by clearing the ruins.
D. Strengthen the house structure or move to new places.
5. What is the best title for the text?
A. New Houses were Built for Safety B. Tourism Worsens in North Carolina
C. Rising Seas Put Coastal Towns at Risk D. Climate Change Leads to Stronger Storms
D
Mary began to like her life here. Every morning, she went outside after breakfast and spent most of the day in the grounds. The cold wind brought pink to her face. And she finished all of her food each evening. She was much healthier. After dinner, she liked sitting near the fire and talking to Martha.
“Why does Mr. Craven hate the locked garden?” Mary asked once.
“It was Mrs. Craven’s garden and she loved it. She looked after the flowers together with Mr. Craven. No gardeners were allowed in.”
“But what happened?” Mary asked.
“There was an old tree in the garden with a branch (树枝) like a seat. Mrs. Craven often sat there, reading and talking. One day, the branch broke and she fell down. She was badly hurt and died soon. Mr. Craven locked the garden and never talked about it.”
Mary seldom felt sorry for anyone, but now she understood how sad her uncle must be.
The wind roared (咆哮) around the house, and the doors and windows banged (砰砰作响). Mary listened, and through the noise she thought that she heard a child crying.
“Can you hear someone crying?” she asked Martha.
Martha seemed pretty nervous. “No,” she answered. “It’s only the wind or the servant who works in the kitchen. She’s got a toothache. Perhaps she’s crying. I’m going to check if she needs any help.” After the words, Martha left the room quickly.
When Martha let her alone, Mary decided to explore (探索) the house. She went quietly along corridors (走廊) and up and down stairs. In the silence of the house she heard again the sound of a child crying. She stopped to listen at a door, but then another door opened and Mrs. Medlock came out. “What are you doing here?” she said, and she took Mary by the arm and pulled her away, “Get back to your room at once.”

六、阅读与表达。
On November 25, 2025, “Lucky Horse” was introduced. It is the mascot (吉祥物) for 2026 Happy Chinese New Year events around the world.
Its design gets ideas from two famous Chinese cultural items: the Eastern Han bronze sculpture (青铜雕塑) “Galloping Horse Treading on a Swallow” (马踏飞燕) and the “Five-Flower Horse” (五花马) of the Tang Dynasty — a symbol of beauty and energy in old China.
The mascot (吉祥物) is bright Chinese red, with traditional patterns like clouds and “ruyi” (a symbol of good luck). This colour and these patterns show the cheerful spirit of Chinese New Year. Thin gold lines on its body stand for good luck and success, and its bright eyes look friendly and full of hope.
The China Tourism Group sells Lucky Horse products in other countries to help share Chinese culture. You can find soft toys, blind boxes and fridge magnets, as well as traditional festival things like couplets, red envelopes and lanterns. These products will be used in 2026 Happy Chinese New Year events worldwide, from New York’s Chinatown to London’s Trafalgar Square. They bring fun to Spring Festival celebrations around the world.
The Happy Chinese New Year Program started in 2001. In 2026, it will be 25 years old. In 2023, the program began a mascot series based on the Chinese zodiac (生肖). This lets people share New Year wishes with the world using cultural symbols. As 2026 is the Year of the Horse, “Lucky Horse” carries wishes of peace, success and happiness.
【答案】CDCAC

2. 细节理解题。根据第2段“The length from your head to your belly button (肚脐) and the length from your belly button to your feet have a ratio (比率) that is always around 0.618. This is the golden ratio, and we can see it everywhere, like in nature, music, and drawings.(从你的头部到肚脐的长度与从肚脐到脚部的长度之比总是大约为 0.618。这就是黄金比例,我们可以在自然、音乐和绘画中随处看到它。)”可知,从你的头到肚脐的长度和从肚脐到脚的长度之比总是大约0.618,这就是黄金比例。所以黄金比例可以在身体里被发现。A. 数学可以塑造美丽的人体;B. 美只能在数学曲线中找到;C. 无理数的数字将停止;D. 黄金比例可以在身体中找到。故选D。
3. 细节理解题。根据第4段“While the tangent curve is like a waterfall. That really “going down three thousand feet from on high”.”可知,正切曲线就像瀑布一样。真是“飞流直下三千尺”。图片C与之相符,故选C。
4. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“eiπ+1=0. The number “e” is an irrational number (无理数), whose digits (位数) go on and on and never stop. “π” is also such an irrational number.(eiπ+1=0。数字‘e’是一个无理数,它的数字会一直延续下去,永远不会停止。π也是这样一个无理数。)”可推知,eiπ的数值为-1,为具体的数值,而不是无理数。A. eiπ不是无理数;B. 李星认为数学既难又无聊;C. 我们很少在图纸上看到黄金比例;D. 切线总是三千英尺高。故选A。
5. 标题归纳题。本文主要展示了数学在黄金比例、诗歌、曲线和公式中的美。A. 这就是数学的样子;B. 解数学题;C. 数学之美;D. 诗歌中的数字。故选C。
