A(话题:55 条规则的力量)
Ron Clark is the writer of The Essential 55, a book about teaching students the rules for life.He helped a lot of students and made a big difference in their lives.
Clark started teaching at a primary school in North Carolina, the US.When he started teaching the fifth-grade students, he faced many challenges(挑战).The kids weren’t into learning and often played or slept in class. To help them, Clark wrote 55 rules.Soon, the students started to get better at school and in life. They learnt to love others and to be the best of themselves.
Some Rules from The Essential 55
Rule 1:Look people in the eye when you talk to them.
Rule 2:Do your homework every night.
Rule 3:If someone asks you a question, ask one back.
Rule 4:Learn the names of other teachers and say hello.
Rule 5:Always say “Thank you” when someone gives you something.
Clark didn’t find it difficult to teach his students these rules. He explained each rule and then the students did role-plays.The first week was for practice. If they forgot a rule, he helped them remember.Clark hoped when his students left this classroom, they could have skills that would help them for the rest of their lives.

新素材
中华优秀传统文化 B(话题:技艺之道,贵在熟练)
In the Northern Song Dynasty(960—1127), there was a man called Chen Yaozi. He was quite good at archery(箭术).He always hit the bull’s eye(靶心), and hardly missed the target(靶子).
When he was doing his daily practice one day, many people came around him.And they shouted for him excitedly each time he hit the target. This made him feel happy with himself. But among the people stood an old oil seller(卖油翁),who wasn’t in high spirits like others.
“Doesn’t he think I did well?” Chen thought.“Did you seen anyone better than me before?” Angry and surprised, he called the seller over and asked.
“No,” answered the old man.
“What do you think of my archery then?”
The old man answered, “Nothing special. You became skilled through much practice. That’s all.”
“Is it so? Why not show what you can do?” Chen said.
The oil seller put a gourd(葫芦) bottle on the ground and put a coin with a square hole(方孔钱) in the centre over the top.He then scooped(用勺舀) some oil, held it high in the air and poured it into the bottle, not making the coin wet.People around the old man shouted for him excitedly. But he said, “This is nothing special.I can do it because I practised every day.” With these words, he left.
( D )6.What does the underlined word “missed” mean in Paragraph 1?
A.Thought about. B.Went through.
C.Couldn’t understand. D.Didn’t hit.
根据第一段中“He always hit the bull’s eye, and hardly missed the target.”
( A )7. Which picture shows what the oil seller did in the story?
A. B. C. D.
( B )8. Which is the right story “mountain” for the text?
①Background(背景). ②Chen hit the target. ③The oil seller watched and shared his ideas. ④The oil seller poured the oil into the gourd. ⑤The oil seller left.
A. B. C. D.
( D )9.In the old oil seller’s eyes, what did he and Chen Yaozi have in common?
A.Both were smart.
B.Both were easy to get angry.
C.Both could hit the bull’s eye easily.
D.Both became skilled through much practice.
( A )10.What can we learn from the story?
A.Practice makes perfect. B.No pains, no gains.
C.Never too old to learn. D.Old habits die hard.
。故选A。
