In recent years, environmental problems have become more and more serious around the world. From melting glaciers to plastic pollution, our planet is facing great challenges. However, we don’t need to wait for governments or big companies to take action—every ordinary person can make a difference with small daily actions.
One of the most important ways to protect the environment is waste sorting. Many cities in China, such as Shanghai and Shenzhen, have introduced smart waste sorting systems. These systems use colored bins: green for food waste, blue for recyclables like paper and glass, and black for non-recyclables. People who sort their trash correctly can get points through mobile apps, and these points can be exchanged for small gifts. This not only makes waste sorting fun but also encourages more people to join in.
Proper waste sorting and recycling bring great benefits. A study shows that recycling can reduce landfill waste by 40%. Recycled plastic bottles can be turned into fibers for clothes, and food waste can become fertilizer for plants. This cycle saves natural resources and cuts down air pollution caused by burning trash.
Besides waste sorting, there are many other small things we can do. For example, we can use reusable shopping bags instead of plastic ones, turn off the lights when we leave a room, and walk or ride a bike for short trips instead of taking a car. These small actions may seem unimportant, but when millions of people do them together, they can make a big difference to our planet.
However, there are still some challenges. Some people, especially the elderly, find waste sorting rules confusing. To solve this problem, communities often organize workshops to teach people how to sort trash correctly. Students also act as “green volunteers” to help their neighbors remember the rules.
Protecting the environment is not a one-person job—it needs teamwork between citizens, companies and governments. As one volunteer said, “Every small action counts. When we work together, we can build a greener and healthier future for our planet.”
23. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Governments should take action to protect the environment.
B. Big companies are responsible for environmental problems.
C. Ordinary people can protect the environment with small actions.
D. Waste sorting is the only way to protect the environment.
24. According to the passage, what can recycled plastic bottles be made into?
A. Fertilizer. B. Food. C. Clothing fibers. D. New plastic bottles.
25. Which of the following is NOT a small action to protect the environment?
A. Using reusable shopping bags.
B. Driving a car for short trips.
C. Turning off the lights when leaving a room.
D. Riding a bike to school.
26. Why do communities organize workshops?
A. To help people exchange points for gifts.
B. To teach people how to sort trash correctly.
C. To encourage students to be green volunteers.
D. To collect recyclable waste.

The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala featured a hugely popular program called “Wu BOT”. In the show, humanoid robots perform traditional Chinese kung fu alongside young martial artists, making it one of the most talked-about performances of this year’s gala.
The robots are designed and produced by Unitree (宇树) Technology, a leading Chinese robotics company. These Unitree G1 robots perform difficult movements, including drunken boxing, nunchaku (双节棍) and parkour (跑酷). They cooperate on stage with students from Tagou Martial Arts School, one of China’s best-known traditional kung fu schools. With high-precision (高精度的) control and stable motion design, the robots move smoothly and work naturally with human performers.
The performance shows clear progress in just one year. In the 2025 gala, they could only perform simple group dances, but they were not able to do difficult kung fu moves. This year, however, they completed complex kung fu movements easily. This change shows the rapid development of robot motion control and group cooperation technology.
“Wu BOT” is more than just an entertaining stage act. It combines traditional Chinese culture and modern technology in a creative way, helping young students understand kung fu from a new perspective. It also shows the public the latest developments in China’s humanoid robots. In the future, such technologies may be widely used in fields like education, public services and daily life.
27. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The history of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
B. A popular robot kung fu show at the 2026 gala.
C. Different kinds of humanoid robots in China.
D. How to develop robot motion control technology.
28. Why could the robots move smoothly on stage according to Paragraph 2?
A. Because they learned from famous martial artists.
B. Because they practiced for a long time.
C. Because they have high-precision control and stable motion design.
D. Because they are simple in design.
29. What progress did the robots make in a year?
A. They could work with foreign performers.
B. They could create new kinds of kung fu moves.
C. They changed into different kinds of robots.
D. They could complete difficult and complex kung fu movements.
30. What is the writer’s purpose in writing the last paragraph?
A. To show the meaning and future use of the program.
B. To advise readers to pay more attention to kung fu.
C. To tell people to widely use robots in daily life.
D. To introduce China’s education and public services.

How to Make Quick Decisions for Your Life
We make decisions every day. 31.______ When it comes to making decisions, choosing the right one can at times be stressful, especially if the decision must be made quickly. Indecision often weighs us down, but there are some useful tips for making quick decisions more easily.
32.______ Sometimes the key to making a quick decision comes down to planning ahead of time (提前) for just such an occasion. We all know we’re going to come to an important decision-making point sooner or later, so having a plan already in hand can put our mind at ease when that time comes.
Overcome fear. 33.______ While it may seem difficult to overcome the fear of making the wrong choice, many experts agree that we shouldn’t be afraid to make the wrong decision, even if it seems important. The vast majority of wrong decisions can be corrected, while delaying decisions can often lead to more problems.
Write down all the advantages and disadvantages of your decision. Even if you don’t have all the information, writing down all the pros and cons (优缺点) is a good starting point for figuring out what to do. In cases where there simply isn’t enough time to write things down, make a mental list in your mind. Thinking of the pros and cons can help you organise your thoughts. 34.______
Determine criteria. Remember that every decision you make should come with a certain list of criteria. 35.______ But once you know the requirements you’re looking for, making a decision will become easier. Look for the choice that satisfies the list you’ve made, and once that choice is found, you should move ahead with it.

B. The list may be short or quite long.
C. Communicate your decision to others.

During the May Day holiday, my best friend and I decided to go on a trip to a quiet coastal town (沿海小镇) to escape the busy city life. We booked (预订) a cheap but cozy (舒适的) hotel near the beach and set off early in the morning by train. When we arrived, the warm wind blew gently, carrying the smell of the sea. The sky was bright blue with soft white clouds, and the streets were lined with green trees and colorful flowers.
In the following days, we wandered around (闲逛) the old town every day.
