M: That’s true. I need to learn that most of all.
W: And here’s another skill: being kind when you speak. When conversations get difficult, people often respond with anger or argue. Instead, we should speak politely and consider others’ perspectives.
M: You do that really well. You always respect what I’m saying, even if you don’t agree.
W: Thanks! I feel the same about you. But I know I don’t always communicate well with my family. Sometimes I lack patience and make them feel embarrassed.
M: Communicating with family can be tough. But the key is to keep trying and improving.

M: Especially Rose, who played the mother. Her performance is quite true to life.
W: Right. I heard she spent time volunteering at a hospital to prepare for the role.
M: That makes sense. It explains why her emotions seemed so genuine.
W: By the way, were you involved in the festival?
M: Not on stage. I helped with the lighting. It was stressful, but also fun.

There, the deaf staff make coffee and customers place orders through the shop’s online platform. The woman behind the cafe is Wang Xian. She quit her job after seeing her aunt and uncle, both of whom are deaf, struggling — they never had formal jobs and sold tofu on the streets. Wang Xian wanted to create better opportunities for the disabled. Wang Jiali works at the cafe. With no prior experience, she had to work hard to handle the full menu. The work comes with unseen challenges and occasional misunderstandings from some customers. However, compared with her previous jobs, the constant interaction has become her greatest source of growth. “It has helped her build courage and improved her communication skills, making her a different person,” Wang Xian said.
A
In today’s global trade, product safety is extremely important. Therefore, labels on products help consumers make informed choices.
The primary function of these marks is to ensure the safety of users and property. For instance, electrical equipment sold in the European Union must carry the “CE” mark. This sign proves that the product meets all relevant EU standards. Unlike an official approval, it is based on the company’s own evaluation. In contrast, the Chinese “CCC” mark requires testing by an official organization, and a certificate must be obtained. Products without the “CCC” mark cannot be sold in China.
Other marks are also important. The French “FR” sign instructs consumers to separate packaging for recycling. The “RoHS” mark shows a product limits harmful materials under EU rules, but as it is merely one part of the CE standard, it does not ensure full compliance (遵守). Codes like “SKC/SKU” are simply used by companies to manage their product storage. Most importantly, products must have clear safety warnings on their labels, or they will be banned from the market.
Below is a product label:
▲WARNING
To avoid danger of choke, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children.
Do not use it in beds, carriages or playpens.
▲WARNING
This product contains a button cell or coin battery.
A swallowed button cell or coin battery can cause Internal Chemical Burns.
Battery liquid is poisonous and can cause dizziness and other serious symptoms.
21.What is a feature of the “CE” mark?
A.Official testing required. B.Self-assessment by the maker.
C.Focus on recycling only. D.Storage code for companies.
22.What is the purpose of the “FR” sign?
A.To limit harmful materials. B.To prove EU safety standard.
C.To guide waste separation. D.To manage product storage.
23.Where is this text most likely taken from?
A.A company storage guide. B.A consumer safety manual.
C.A product delivery label. D.A government trade paper.
根据文章第三段“The French “FR” sign instructs consumers to separate packaging for recycling.(法国的“FR”标识旨在引导消费者将包装进行分类以便进行回收利用)”可知,FR标志的作用是指导消费者将包装分类以便回收利用。故选C。
根据全文内容,结合第一段“In today’s global trade, product safety is extremely important. Therefore, labels on products help consumers make informed choices.(在当今的全球贸易中,产品安全性至关重要。因此,产品上的标签有助于消费者做出明智的选择)”可知,文章主要介绍了不同产品安全标志的含义、功能以及产品标签上安全警告的重要性,旨在帮助消费者理解标签信息,做出安全、明智的消费选择。因此,本文最有可能出自一本消费者安全手册。故选B。

In an age shaped by social media and self-promotion, people admire a visible version of success, the kind that takes center stage and seeks constant applause. For an extended period, I was a willing participant in this illusion (错觉), measuring my own worth by the volume of recognition I received from others, only to feel disappointed when my quiet contributions went unnoticed.
My perspective on value and success shifted greatly during my volunteer time at a small neighborhood library. It was a quiet place with calm yet purposeful daily activities, where the staff worked diligently without expectation of praise or recognition. My responsibilities there were modest and simple: reshelving books, helping a student find a suitable novel, or keeping the reading room quiet and peaceful for everyone. These ordinary and unsung routines, which were easily overlooked by most people, first struck me as trifling, totally lacking the applause and attention I had starved for.
Over time, however, I began to see deeper value in these simple tasks. An elderly man came to the library every week, calling it his only shelter of peace in a noisy world. A small group of young locals depended on its quiet and comfortable atmosphere to take a break from their busy lives. I gradually came to realize that the library’s true significance lay not in great public recognition or praise, but in the steady, silent dedication (奉献) of its staff that made it a warm haven (港湾) for the whole community.
Eventually, I learned that true competence operates quietly. It lies in the work done without an audience: the small, consistent efforts that make life easier for others. Success does not need a spotlight to be real. The most meaningful contributions are often made without expecting applause, yet they are profoundly valuable.
24.What did the author previously believe?
A.Silent work deserved respect. B.Success hid in the dark.
C.Visible efforts earned reputation. D.Recognition measured worth.
25.What does the underlined word “trifling” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Effortless. B.Challenging. C.Insignificant. D.Complicated.
26.How does the author illustrate the importance of the library in paragraph 3?
A.By giving examples. B.By making contrast.
C.By listing statistics. D.By quoting readers.
27.What is the main purpose of the text?
A.To compare different types of success.
B.To show the value of quiet devotion.
C.To describe the experience at a library.
D.To advocate seeking public recognition.
【答案】24.D 25.C 26.A 27.B
根据原文第一段“For an extended period, I was a willing participant in this illusion(错觉), measuring my own worth by the volume of recognition I received from others (长期以来,我心甘情愿深陷这种错觉之中,依靠他人的认可度来衡量自我价值)” 可知,作者从前认为外界的认可可以衡量个人价值。
根据原文第二段“These ordinary and unsung routines, which were easily overlooked by most people, first struck me as trifling, totally lacking the applause and attention I had starved for. (这些不被人知晓的日常琐事很容易被大多数人忽视,起初我认为这些事情trifling,完全没有我渴望的掌声与关注。)” 可知,这些不被人知晓的日常琐事很容易被大多数人忽视,所以trifling表示这些事情是无意义的,不会被人注意的,故表示“微不足道、无意义的”。
26.推理判断题。根据原文第三段“An elderly man came to the library every week, calling it his only shelter of peace in a noisy world. A small group of young locals depended on its quiet and comfortable atmosphere to take a break from their busy lives. (一位老人每周都会来到图书馆,并称这里是喧嚣世界里唯一的安宁港湾。当地一群年轻人依靠图书馆安静舒适的环境,从忙碌的生活中抽身休憩。)” 可知,作者通过列举老人和当地年轻人的事例,说明图书馆的重要意义。
27.推理判断题。根据原文最后一段“Eventually, I learned that true competence operates quietly. It lies in the work done without an audience: the small, consistent efforts that make life easier for others. (最终我明白,真正的能力往往无声彰显。它藏在无人注视的付出里,藏在那些默默坚持、为他人带去便利的微小努力中。)” 可知,文章旨在阐述默默奉献的价值与意义。

A wildfire burns in the hills of a Los Angeles suburb, leaping from one land of dry brush to another as it approaches a group of homes. The landscaping at the first house burns, but the house itself stubbornly refuses to catch fire: any small flames that start along its walls or roof quickly die out. There’s no water in sight — the flames are being stopped by sound waves. This kind of fire suppression may soon play a vital role in fighting wildfires.
The key ingredients for a fire are heat, fuel and oxygen; take one away, and the flames fade. Sound waves can kill a fire by pushing oxygen molecules (分子) away from the fuel, preventing the fire getting the air it needs to continue burning. Geof Bruder, who researched heat energy transformation at NASA, co-founded Sonic Fire Tech to build a sound-generating machine for this purpose. “It’s basically vibrating (振动) the oxygen faster than the fuel can use it, so you block the chemical reaction,” Bruder says.
“The influence of sound on flames is well known,” says Albert Simeoni, head of the department of fire protection engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. “The challenge is to expand the technology without creating disrupting or even damaging sound effects.” Sonic solves this challenge by using infra sound (次声波). While previous efforts used sound waves in the range of 30 to 60 hertz, which can be produced with simpler equipment, Sonic stays at or below 20 hertz. These waves can’t be heard by people, and they travel farther than higher-frequency waves.
“Sound waves can affect fire strongly, but they work only on small flames,” says Arnaud Trouvé, chair of the University of Maryland’s department of fire protection engineering. Nevertheless, homeowners and companies are ready to give it a try: Sonic is working with two California companies to demonstrate its technology. Homeowners have also signed contracts with the company, which is aiming to have 50 pilot tests early in 2026.
28.What does the underlined word “suppression” mean in paragraph 1?
A.Prevention. B.Stimulation. C.Detection. D.Promotion.
29.How does the sound-generating machine work?
A.It cuts off the chemical energy. B.It takes away the essential fuel.
C.It speeds up the oxygen vibration. D.It cools down the heat temperature.
30.How was the problem of sound effects solved?
A.By improving simpler equipment. B.By broadening wave frequency range.
C.By employing lower-frequency waves. D.By promoting production of the device.
31.What can we learn from Arnaud Trouvé’s words?
A.He doubts the economic prospect. B.He implies the technical limitation.
C.He celebrates the potential application. D.He encourages more demonstration.
【答案】28.A 29.C 30.C 31.B
根据第一段中“There’s no water in sight — the flames are being stopped by sound waves. This kind of fire suppression may soon play a vital role in fighting wildfires.(眼前没有水——火焰正被声波熄灭。这种suppression火的方式可能很快在扑灭野火方面发挥至关重要的作用)”可知,眼不见一滴水,而火焰正被声波阻挡,可知这种技术是用于灭火的,即防止火灾的发生或蔓延因此,suppression意为“抑制、阻挡”。故选A。
根据第二段中“It’s basically vibrating (振动) the oxygen faster than the fuel can use it, so you block the chemical reaction.(它基本上是以比燃料使用氧气更快的速度振动氧气,从而阻止化学反应)”可知,声音发生器是通过加快氧气的振动速度来阻止化学反应,从而达到灭火的目的。故选C。
根据第三段中“Sonic solves this challenge by using infra sound (次声波). While previous efforts used sound waves in the range of 30 to 60 hertz, which can be produced with simpler equipment, Sonic stays at or below 20 hertz. These waves can’t be heard by people, and they travel farther than higher-frequency waves.(Sonic通过使用次声波解决了这一挑战。虽然之前的努力使用了30到60赫兹范围内的声波,这种声波可以用更简单的设备产生,但Sonic的声波保持在20赫兹或以下。这些波人类听不到,而且它们比高频波传播得更远)”可知,Sonic通过使用次声波,即低频波,解决了声音效果的问题。故选C。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段中““Sound waves can affect fire strongly, but they work only on small flames,” says Arnaud Trouvé, chair of the University of Maryland’s department of fire protection engineering.(“声波对火势有很强的影响,但它们只对小火有效,”马里兰大学消防工程系主任Arnaud Trouvé说)”可知,Arnaud Trouvé的话暗示了这种声波灭火技术存在技术上的局限性,即它只对小火焰有效。故选B。

New Year’s gifts may contain more surprises than usual this year, as children open presents that can talk back. Toymakers in China have declared 2025 the year of artificial intelligence (AI) and are producing robots and teddies that can teach, play and tell stories. Older children, meanwhile, are glued to viral AI videos and AI-enhanced games. In school, many are being taught with materials created with tools like ChatGPT. Some are even learning alongside chatbot-assistants. In work and play, AI is remaking the very nature of childhood.
AI promises every child the kind of upbringing previously available only to the rich, with private assistants, personalised courses and tailored entertainment. Children can listen to songs composed for them, read stories in which they star, play video games that adapt to their skill level and have chatbot friends cheering them on. A childhood fit for a king could become universal. Yet this future is filled with both opportunities and hidden traps: a tailored upbringing may lead to loneliness and isolation. What’s more, as their subjects often find out, it can create adults who are ill-equipped for real life. As AI changes childhood for better and for worse, society must rethink the business of growing up.
Being brought up by robots has advantages. Tech firms are already showing how AI can enhance learning, especially where teachers and materials are scarce. Early trials have shown it improves language skills significantly. AI assistants free students from one-size-fits-all classes, where bright pupils grow bored and struggling ones fall behind; AI can even rewrite complex content into cartoons or songs for 8-year-old learners.
Yet there are well-publicised risks in letting children loose on an evolving technology. Toys can go off the rails; children can easily misuse AI. Worse still, the technology quickly learns what its master likes and shows more of it. One-sided relationships with chatbots present a similar risk. AI companions that never criticise, nor share feelings of their own, are a poor preparation for dealing with imperfect humans.
Some basic counter-measures are urgent. Parents should think twice before entrusting their child to a machine; chatbots should have age restrictions; However, the longer-term challenge is to think deeply about how to preserve the socialisation that AI could take out of children’s lives. Schools are the best place to do this. They should take advantage of personalised teaching where it is proven to work. But they must also redouble their efforts to teach things that a robot can’t: to debate, to disagree and to get along with — perhaps even to appreciate — people who are not as sycophantic (阿谀) as a chatbot.
32.Why are several examples cited in paragraph 1?
A.To label 2025 as the first year of AI.
B.To demonstrate AI’s widespread existence.
C.To emphasize academic and leisure activities.
D.To exhibit the technological advances AI brings.
33.What does the author think of the AI-supported childhood?
A.It limits children’s range of choices.
B.It may cause drawbacks in adulthood.
C.It is only available to the privileged class.
D.It enables children to become kings in the future.
34.What does the underlined word “this” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Improving chatbots’ emotional ability.
B.Setting AI usage rules for children.
C.Protecting kids’ real-life interaction skills.
D.Balancing AI and children’s social skills.
35.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.AI & Kids’ Growth: A Bright Future Within Reach
B.AI’s Influence on Kids: Negative Impacts on Childhood
C.AI and Childhood: Transformation with Pros and Cons
D.Children and AI Tech: An Indispensable Daily Companion
【答案】32.B 33.B 34.C 35.C

根据第一段“New Year’s gifts may contain more surprises than usual this year, as children open presents that can talk back.

How to choose the right workout partner
The right workout partner can make all the difference in staying motivated and achieving real results. If you’re wondering who to invite to your next session, consider these essential tips for choosing someone who will truly help you level up.
First and foremost, choose someone with similar goals. For example, you may want to run a marathon, while your partner may only want to tone up. 36 This is far from ideal. When you share the same goals, you not only train side by side but also motivate each other more effectively, since you are working toward the same outcome.
It is also vital to find someone with a similar ability level. According to social comparison theory, people tend to mirror the behaviors of those around them. 37 If the gap between you is too large, one of you may feel discouraged, which can quickly hurt motivation. By choosing someone with a similar fitness level, you can challenge each other in a healthy way and make steady progress in strength, speed, and overall performance.
38 You and your workout partner should agree on training frequency and intensity. When your expectations are the same, you can support each other consistently — pushing through tough sessions, staying accountable, and offering encouragement when it’s needed most.
Finally, make sure you both share a long-term vision. 39 Since fitness involves both immediate targets and distant goals, you need a companion who is in it for the entire journey.
Choosing wisely not only boosts your motivation and progress but also makes every training session more effective and enjoyable. 40
A.Simply put, your partner choice is vital.
B.In that case, you may end up training separately.

36.上文“For example, you may want to run a marathon, while your partner may only want to tone up.(例如,你可能想跑马拉松,而你的伙伴可能只想塑形)”说明健身目标不同的具体情况。
37.上文“According to social comparison theory, people tend to mirror the behaviors of those around them.(根据社会比较理论,人们倾向于模仿周围人的行为)”说明社会比较理论的内容。
E选项中的“Furthermore”承接上文,“share the same level of commitment”与下文中的“agree on training frequency and intensity”相呼应。
39.上文“Finally, make sure you both share a long-term vision.(最后,确保你们都有相同的长期愿景)”说明长期愿景的重要性。 F选项中的“a level of ambition that matches yours”与上文中的“share a long-term vision”相呼应。
40.上文“Choosing wisely not only boosts your motivation and progress but also makes every training session more effective and enjoyable.(明智地选择不仅能提高你的动力和进步,还能让每一次训练都更有效、更愉快)”说明明智选择健身伙伴的好处。

Imagine a huge, beautiful island that has just become 56 special “shopping and business park” for the whole world. This is 57 happened to the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), the world’s largest FTP by area. On December 18, 2025, island-wide special customs operations 58 (launch) officially. Don’t let the big words confuse you — this doesn’t mean the island is closed. It actually means Hainan is now 59 (open) to the world than ever before.
Think of it like this: the island is now a unique “world” with two “lines”. The “First Line” is between Hainan and foreign 60 (country). Here, most goods from overseas can enter Hainan with zero tariffs (关税). The “Second Line” is between Hainan and the Chinese mainland. This line 61 (make) sure that the special tax-free goods stay in Hainan’s “world” and are managed properly.
This smart system, 62 (describe) as “freer access at the First Line and regulated access at the Second Line”, allows goods, money, and people to move more freely. This helps businesses save a lot of money and grow 63 (sustainable).
Why is this so important? At a time when some nations are creating more trade barriers, China is opening a huge door wider. Hainan, 64 the full support of China’s vast market, aims to be a leading gateway for China’s opening-up in the new era. It’s not just about doing shopping; it’s about establishing a stable, transparent and predictable institutional system 65 (attract) high-end resources from around the world in the future.

At the library, Nate Jasper noticed a sign for the “First Annual Highland Drawing Contest.” It asked for artwork showing the unique beauty of their town. Noticing his interest, the librarian, Ms. Kim, handed him a flyer. “The winning drawings will be displayed right here in the library,” she added.
Sitting on the library steps outside, Nate was lost in thought. He had always loved art. He could never have too many sketchpads (素描本) and crayons. “I have to enter this contest!” he said to himself.
But something troubled him. Years of living in the small town had convinced him that it was a dull place. “There’s nothing special about it — only ordinary farms, animals, and trees!” he frowned. “What will I draw?”
Just then, Briana Williams, a new girl in his class who had just moved from Houston, a large modern city in Texas, walked out. Spotting Nate, she sat down beside him and noticed the flyer. “A drawing contest? That sounds fun!”
“Not really,” Nate sighed. “Trust me, this town is a big bore.”
Briana looked surprised. “Well, everything here may seem boring to you, but to me, it’s all new! I’d love to see more of it. Show me around sometime. And bring your sketchpad — you might find something worth drawing.”
The next Saturday, they wandered down a quiet lane together. Briana stopped beneath a large maple and gazed up in awe. Nate paused beside her. At first, it felt strange to admire a tree he’d passed a hundred times. But as he followed her gaze, the sun was shining through the branches, turning the red and yellow leaves into a sea of burning gold.
“There’s nowhere this quiet and pretty in Houston,” Briana said softly.
Nate felt something clicked in his mind. Highland wasn’t a big bore — he was just too used to it. He began to wonder what other hidden beauty was waiting to be discovered.

Inspired, Nate suggested they visit his Grandpa’s farm. Briana’s eyes lit up, and the two set off right away. When they arrived, Briana gasped, “This is amazing!” Her wonder was infectious — Nate looked around, feeling as if he were seeing the farm for the first time. Golden wheat fields swayed in the breeze like a rolling ocean, fluffy sheep grazing peacefully in the sunlight. He stood there, completely captivated. Then, Briana gently nudged him. “You should draw this, Nate. It’s a perfect scene.” That was it. Nate pulled out his sketchpad immediately, his pencil dancing across the paper. As his painting took shape, he wondered why he had never thought to draw the farm before.Once he looked closely, it really was a fascinating place. By sunset, his sketchpad was filled with lively drawings.
On the day of the award ceremony, the library was crowded. Local residents gathered around, buzzing with anticipation. Nate stood nervously among them, his heart pounding. Ms. Kim stepped onto the stage. “Every drawing captures the unique beauty of our town,” she said warmly, “but one work truly stood out.” She paused, and then announced Nate’s name. He walked up in disbelief, hands trembling as he accepted the award. The audience applauded loudly, and Briana waved at him from the crowd, beaming with pride. Nate stepped back, looking at his winning piece on the wall — a vivid scene of Grandpa’s farm bathed in golden sunlight. A warm smile spread across his face — beauty had always been there, and sometimes all it took was a pair of fresh eyes to see it.

A
In today’s global trade, product safety is extremely important.

D

C.It is equally important to schedule your training time.
D.In a fitness setting, this relates to the abilities of your partner.
E.Furthermore, ensure you share the same level of commitment.
F.It’s essential to find a partner with a level of ambition that matches yours.
G.In addition, look for a partner who approaches life with a positive attitude.

According to a report 56 (publish) on April, 2026, a new type of temporary work is spreading quickly across the globe. Ordinary people are now being paid to record daily housework at home, 57 (provide) real action data for training humanoid robots.
Most such workers come from countries such as Nigeria, India and the Philippines. They wear small head-mounted cameras and film simple daily tasks, including washing 58 (dish), tidying rooms, handling household objects and preparing basic meals. At roughly 15 dollars per hour, the pay is far 59 (competitive) than most local part-time positions.
Behind this innovative work model 60 (lie) Microl, a tech firm that has recruited thousands of workers across more than 50 countries to gather real-life behavioral data.
Unlike pure computer simulations, which fail to equip robots to handle the messy and unpredictable nature of home environments, real human action videos enable machines 61 (copy) natural movemts with ease. This first-person visual data is exactly 62 makes humanoid robots capable of fitting into daily family life.
Yet this emerging trend also sparks widespread public concerns. Recording private domestic life brings potential privacy risks, and many have raised questions about 63 the collection and use of personal data are properly authorized. 64 these worries, the report stresses that real-world human data has become an indispensable (不可或缺的) part of future home robot development.
As humanoid robot technology continues to advance, these workers will remain 65 indispensable driving force behind the growth of smart home robots worldwide.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
