D. When did you start to feel uncomfortable?
E. What’s wrong?

E 7. D 8. C 9. F 10. B
A: Excuse me, I am new here. ____11____?
B: Yes, there is. Go along this street and turn left at the second crossing. You will see the supermarket on the right side of the road.
A: ____12____ is it?
B: It is only about 300 meters. You can simply walk there.
A: ____13____.
B: You are welcome. By the way, ____14____?
A: I am from Australia. Have you been to Australia before?
B: ____15____. But I hope to go there one day.
11. Is there a supermarket near here
12. How far
13. Thank you
14. Where are you from
15. No, I haven’t
下文B的回答以“Yes, there is.” “Is there a supermarket near here”与下文的“Yes, there is”形成完美呼应。
下文B的回答“It is only about 300 meters.”说明了超市的距离,因此此处A需用“How far is it?”(它有多远?)
下文B回应“You are welcome.”,因此此处A需表达感谢,填“Thank you”,符合问路后礼貌致谢的情景交际逻辑。
下文A的回答“I am from Australia.”说明了自己的国籍,因此此处B需用“Where are you from?”(你来自哪里?)
上文A以“Have you been to Australia before?”提问,下文B补充“But I hope to go there one day.”,表明B从未去过澳大利亚,因此此处需给出否定回答,填“No, I haven’t”。
A student put a note on his classmate’s back during a break between classes one day. The note said “I’m ____16____”. He asked the rest of his classmates not to ____17____ the boy. The other students started laughing at the boy, but wouldn’t say why.
Soon, it was time for their math class. Their teacher wrote a problem on the blackboard. ____18____, it was so difficult that no one was able to solve it except the boy who was labeled (贴标签) stupid.
Paying no ____19____ to the laughter, he walked toward the blackboard and solved the problem. The teacher asked the class to clap for him and took the note off his back. She told him, “It seems that you didn’t know about the note your classmate ____20____ on your back, but you didn’t seem to care anyway.”
Then the teacher looked at the rest of the class and said, “Before I ____21____ you all, let me tell you two things. First, all of you will be labeled at one point or another by other people who don’t want you to be ____22____. All you have to do is to ignore (忽略) these labels. You have to take every chance to learn, grow and improve.”
Then the teacher added, “And it seems that none of you are friends with this boy, since none of you were ____23____ enough to tell him about the note. If that’s true, then you’d better hope that you have some good friends yourself. Or you might be the one with a ____24____ on your back someday with no one to tell you.” Hearing what the teacher said, all the students were lost in ____25____ thought.
16. A. pale B. careful C. stupid
17. A. touch B. joke C. tell
18. A. However B. But C. Widely
19. A. visit B. attention C. secret
20. A. stuck B. climbed C. stood
21. A. praise B. introduce C. punish
22. A. succeed B. unsuccessful C. successful
23. A. quiet B. kind C. smart
24. A. suggestion B. list C. note
25. A. deep B. wild C. simple
16. C 17. C 18. A 19. B 20. A 21. C 22. C 23. B 24. C 25. A
后文“except the boy who was labeled (贴标签) stupid.”
后文“the other students started laughing at the boy, but wouldn’t say why”表明,学生们被要求不告诉男孩纸条的事,应用tell。
“Paying no ... to the laughter”表明是不理会同学们的笑声,pay no attention to表示“无视、不注意”,为固定搭配。
前文“put a note on his back”表明是贴在背上的纸条,应用stuck。
此处呼应前文“A student put a note on his classmate’s back”的情节,应用note。

DeepSeek was founded in July 2023 and focuses on developing advanced large language models (LLMs) and related technologies. Its latest model R1 is special. It ____29____ a new method called Reinforcement Learning (RL) to teach AI how to ____30____ and reason on its own. This is different ____31____ traditional methods and has made DeepSeek stand out in the AI industry.
One of the most surprising things about DeepSeek is ____32____ cheap it is to make. The cost of creating DeepSeek-V3 is about $5.57 million. The cost is ____33____ less than that of ____34____ companies. Famous US economist Jeffrey Sachs praised DeepSeek for its breakthrough, which shows the possibility of advanced AI at much lower costs than those ____35____ believed in the United States.
28. I 29. A
30. J 31. H
32. E 33. B
34. C 35. D
much less than是意为“比……

In Xiangtan, Hunan Province, there’s a toy company making 3D plastic food toys based on the movie, and ▲ ! Yang Zhenlin, assistant to the company’s chairman, said the first batch (一批) of Ne Zha-themed “blind box” toys sold out before the Spring Festival. With a blind box, you can’t see which toy figure is inside until you open it, so it’s a fun surprise.
The company has produced toys, based on six main characters in the movie, that sell for 11.5 yuan each. By Monday, they had sold over 450,000 sets of Ne Zha-themed toys through livestreams on Douyin, making 30 million yuan! That’s the top seller in the board game and collectibles category (类别) on the platform.
The company is also talking to get the rights to make toys about two more characters from the movie. “We thought the toys would be popular, but Ne Zha 2 is even more popular than we imagined!” said Yang. “We think sales will keep growing, and we could make 200 million yuan from these related products this year.”
Other products are also selling like hotcakes. Chen Qi, who runs Guangdong Henglitai Crafts Co. in Dongguan, said they made over 300,000 sets of such products in early January and all have sold out. They’re working hard to make more to meet the public demand.
“The success of Ne Zha 2 shows that Chinese animation can compete with that of the Japanese and American giants,” said Chen.
Li Baochuan, an expert in cartoon history at Hangzhou Normal University, said these products are more than just toys. For younger people, they’re a way to show who they are and to connect with others.

Have you seen the clay soldiers (士兵) in Xi’an’s terracotta museum? Do you know the true colors of them?
More than 2,000 years ago, Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, ordered people to build the Terracotta Army. He hoped that the army would guard him after he died.
In 1974, some farmers found several clay soldiers by accident in Xi’an. After that, about 8,000 more were found by archeologists Today, the clay soldiers in Xi’an’s terracotta museum are light brown. But they weren’t always this color. When they were made, they had the colors of white, green, blue, red, purple and yellow. Sadly, most of the colors disappeared today.
An area with more than a hundred clay soldiers was discovered by archeologists a few years ago. Many of them still had black hair, pink faces and black or brown eyes when they were found. If they were not protected well, their colors would disappear, too. After a clay soldier was found, archeologists used two steps to keep its color. First, they sprayed (喷) a special “water” on it. Then, they covered it in plastic.
Archeologists are facing a new challenge now. They are going to find a way to put the colors onto the clay soldiers again. If they succeed in doing it, people will be able to see what the clay soldiers originally (最初) looked like. It must be very amazing.

What comes after the success of a Chinese animation (动画片)? Toys and other collectible products, of course.
Sales of character-themed products related to the movie Ne Zha 2 have been red-hot. The movie has made over $1 billion in a single market worldwide, which is amazing! Toys, clothes, and collectible cards are flying off the shelves. Cities across China even want to be known as Ne Zha’ s birthplace.
The huge sales of Ne Zha 2 products are great news for the animation industry too.
