2. The best time to visit Beijing is ________ autumn.
A. on B. in C. at D. to

How much多少,修饰不可数名词;How old多大,询问年龄;How often多久一次,询问频率;How long多长,询问时间段。根据答语中的“once a week”可知,此处问的是频率,故选C。

A. supports B. is supported C. supported D. was supported
【答案】B
【解析】
【详解】句意:这个新计划现在被公司里的大多数人支持。

10. This problem ________ at tomorrow’s class meeting.
A. will discuss B. discusses
C. will be discussed D. is discussed
【答案】C

At lunch time, we threw out some ideas. “We could read five books by writers from different countries,” ____14____ Lisa. “Or maybe we can read some different kinds of books,” suggested Gary.
I looked to our fourth friend, Kate. “Do you have ideas for us?” I asked her. “Why would I give you guys ideas?” she said unhappily. “I’ll ____15____ that for my team...whoever that is.”
Gary, Lisa and I all felt embarrassed (尴尬的). “Kate, come on,” I said. “It’s teams of three. If Ms. Reed said teams of four, then the four of us would be together.”

C
Have you agreed to help someone when you don’t really want to? Trying to please others because you’re afraid to say no isn’t the same thing as being kind.
Doing a good deed like helping your friend with their homework or sharing a snack can make you feel happy. Studies show that kindness is good for your well-being. However, if you often agree to do things you don’t want to do, or feel sorry about saying no, you could be falling into a people-pleasing trap. It’s not always easy to tell when this happens but one sign (迹象) is that it’s difficult to stop. Pleasing other people may feel good for a short while but the feeling doesn’t last. This is why it’s a good idea to set limits (限制) on what you’ll do for others. These are called “boundaries”.
Spending too much energy (精力) on someone else can stop you doing things you want or need to do. Research has found that trying to please others can leave us feeling anxious (焦虑的) and uncomfortable. We can also feel angry and frustrated with ourselves and our friends. “There’s nothing wrong with being kind to other people,” says Dr. Toru Sato, a writer and expert in thoughts and feelings, but we need to be sure we’re doing it out of kindness, not because we’re worried about what other people think.
Taking on so much that you end up letting yourself down doesn’t make you a better friend. Boundaries include taking time alone when you need it and being able to explain your needs. When someone asks you to do something, give yourself time to think about it before answering. Put time aside every day just for you and spend it doing something you enjoy, like reading a book or listening to music. If saying no feels hard, practise with small things, like if someone offers a candy in a restaurant. This can help you feel more confident. Thinking about how to say no also helps you to communicate what you want clearly and calmly. Remember, you don’t need an excuse to say no; you don’t need to give anyone an explanation. The good people in your life will respect (尊重) this boundary.
28. The underlined word “trap” is closest in meaning to ________.
A. terrible mistake B. difficult situation C. surprising result D. special attention
29. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. How people please others. B. How people set boundaries.
C. Why boundaries are important. D. Why people like to please others.
30. What can we learn from the passage?
A. We can get lasting satisfaction from pleasing others.
B. We’d better give an excuse when we refuse someone.
C. We should save some time for our own pleasure every day.
D. We should answer immediately when someone asks for help.
31. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To lead people to build better boundaries.
B. To encourage people to try to be kind to others.
C. To help people to communicate with others well.
D. To make people see the true meaning of people-pleasing.
【答案】28. B 29. C 30. C 31. A

Keeping an Old Sport Alive
Though the FIFA World Cup came to an end in December 2022, the people in a special city in China were busy making football history of their own.
Zibo in Shandong Province is called “the home of football”, being the birthplace of the ancient Chinese sport of cuju. Cuju won recognition (认可) from football’s governing body, FIFA, as the earliest form of football in 2004.
“Side-flicking”, “chest-down”, and “shoulder-stopper” are some of the key moves mastered (掌握) by cuju players. Li Weipeng, from Linzi district of Zibo City, is a seventh-generation inheritor (传承人) of cuju. He has been practising these skills for 18 years.
Mastering different cuju skills is not easy. “At the beginning, I spent eight hours a day practising juggling (颠) a ball. It was tiring,” Li told China Daily. He is now able to juggle a ball with his foot over 10,000 times in a row.
Teaching students cuju moves is part of Li’s job. The traditional Chinese sport cuju is now popular at primary and middle schools in Linzi. Its moves have been adapted (改编) into dances and morning exercises.
“Students show great interest in playing cuju, which encourages me to spread the ancient sport,” Li told China Daily.
Moreover, cuju has also become a platform for cultural exchanges. During the World Cup in Qatar, Li introduced cuju at a China-Qatar youth exchange activity held in Doha. During the exchange activity, Chinese and Qatari youth players wore traditional cuju clothing and experienced the ancient game.
“As soon as we started, many football fans gathered around us. When we played out the different moves, they cheered for us and gave us the thumbs-up,” said Li, adding that many people were curious and wanted to communicate with the cuju players. Cuju has become a kind of sport that promotes (促进) international communication.

A Rewarding Career: Event Organiser
Many students, like me, often think about future careers. My dream job is to be an event organiser. It’s a challenging yet amazing career that needs various skills.
First, strong communication skills are necessary. As an event organiser, I’ll talk to clients (people who want to hold a party) and suppliers (those who provide food or decorations). Clear communication helps me understand what they need and makes sure everything goes well.
Also, being good at ____50____ (organise) is a must. I need to plan events step by step—from booking a venue (场地) to preparing small details like chairs and music.
Moreover, speeches ____51____ (require) sometimes. For example, when I introduce event ideas to clients, a good speech can make them excited and say “yes” to my plan!
Great chances can ____52____ (provide) to learn and grow. Every event is a new challenge, which always reminds me to improve myself. Working with different people brings benefits too—I make friends, learn from others’ experiences, and even develop new hobbies!
In short, being an event organiser needs hard work and skills. But it’s worth trying. It not only lets me help others have ____53____ (forget) events but also helps me become a better person. Maybe one day, you’ll see my amazing events around the city!

二.阅读理解(6分)
Sophia is smart, talented and incredibly nice. As a team leader, she wishes Nathan, a member of her history project, to do his part as required. But rather than criticising (批评) him, Sophia offered polite encouragement, trying to push him instead, only to find that Nathan kept falling behind. It ended up that other team members, who had to take on more work, complained about both Sophia and Nathan, while Nathan himself complained that he was not treated fairly.
How did poor Sophia get into this mess? The primary reason was that Sophia failed in a key aspect of leadership—the duty to provide clear feedback (反馈) for team members. This isn’t simply a duty but correctness.
Failing to question or criticise Nathan’s work, Sophia was in fact unkind. Many people are not a failure, like Nathan in this case; they’re just in the wrong place and still left in the dark. What they really need is feedback from their leaders. However, Sophia, in this case, withheld (拒绝给) a gift from Nathan.
“You’d better use open, honest, continuous and clear feedback,” says Harry Kraemer, a professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University, “to help figure out (弄明白) someone’s best fit — in their particular job or in the organisation.”
This approach also prevents surprises. It’s not uncommon to see someone suddenly removed from a team. They may have deserved (应受) it, but with a kind leader, they wouldn’t have been caught off-guard, because they would have been receiving open, honest, continuous and clear judgment of their performance.
Then why is it so hard for leaders to give good feedback? “We like to be liked,” Kraemer says. So we avoid anything that may cause unpleasantness, but that kind of feedback usually helps members find the right place for them. “If you like to be liked, the chance of being respected is extremely low. However, if you start off focusing on being respected, you have a chance of being liked,” Kraemer adds. The most difficult part for the leader, of course, involves criticising someone. That is what a nice leader finds hard.
Back to Sophia’s case. Not telling Nathan how he was on the team only made a hard situation worse. But with a different mindset (思维模式), she could have set herself and Nathan up for success.
54. The writer probably agrees that ________.
A. praise and encouragement from leaders bring out better team performance
B. open and honest communication is a must for leaders and team members
C. criticising team members results in serious complaints to the leader
D. being nice to team members is likely to win leaders great respect
55. According to the writer, Sophia should ________.
A. patiently encourage Nathan to try his best
B. wisely let Nathan drop out of the project
C. politely show Nathan the improvement he made
D. clearly tell Nathan her judgment of his performance
56. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. To be nice or to be kind?
B. Is it helpful for leaders to be motivating?
C. To be liked or to be respected?
D. Is it important for leaders to be pleasing?
【答案】54. B 55. D 56. A
【解析】
【导语】本文通过Sophia的故事探讨了领导者应如何提供清晰反馈,指出“友善”不等于“仁慈”,真正有益的反馈需要开放和诚实。
【54题详解】
文章第四段提到“‘You’d better use open, honest, continuous and clear feedback,’ says Harry Kraemer, a professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University, ‘to help figure out (弄明白) someone’s best fit—in their particular job or in the organisation.’”以及后文强调清晰反馈的重要性,说明作者认为领导者与团队成员之间开放和诚实的沟通是必要的。
【55题详解】
文章第二段指出“The primary reason was that Sophia failed in a key aspect of leadership—the duty to provide clear feedback (反馈) for team members.”,Sophia失败的关键原因是未能提供清晰的反馈,第三段进一步指出Nathan真正需要的是来自领导的反馈。
因此最合适的标题是“To be nice or to be kind?”。
