Scientists call these things natural debris (残骸), which also includes dead trees and other plant parts. Though many people think these things are useless waste in nature, they are very important for keeping ecosystems balanced. Natural debris helps recycle nutrients (营养物). When it falls to the ground, it starts to break down because of living things like microorganisms (微生物) and insects. These living things turn complex organic materials (复杂有机物质) into simpler ones. They set free nutrients into the soil. This process is very important for keeping the soil rich. Natural debris provides homes and food for wild animals. From small insects to bigger animals, many living things depend on debris for places to live and produce their babies. And they also depend on organic materials that break down for food. This forms a good food chain that keeps many kinds of living things alive. Another important effect of natural debris is that it can control water movement and help the ground hold more water. It works like a wall to reduce soil loss. Fallen leaves and sticks slow down water on land, so the ground can take in more water. By reducing soil loss, natural debris helps keep riverbanks and riverbeds in good condition. However, human activities harm this balance. When people clear forests for farming or building cities, they take away important materials that form natural debris. This causes weaker nutrient recycling, poorer water control, fewer living places for wild animals, and more CO₂ emissions(排放) into the air. Natural debris is an important part of our lives, so we should protect forests and reuse natural debris. For example, we can collect fallen leaves in parks to make nutrient-rich soil for plants. In this way, we can keep ecosystems healthy. 1.Which of the following is natural debris? A.Dead flowers. B.Living animals. C.Useless waste. D.Green plants. 2.What helps break down natural debris? A.Fresh air. B.Clean water. C.People in forests. D.Microorganisms and insects. 3.What are the advantages of natural debris? a. Helping recycle nutrients. b. Increasing forest areas. c. Helping the ground hold more water. d. Providing places and food for wild animals. A.a,b,c B.a,b,d C.b,c,d D.a,c,d 4.Which is the best structure (结构) of this text? (①= paragraph 1,……) A. B. C. D. 5.What is the main purpose of the text? A.To tell people to protect water. B.To ask people to clean fallen leaves. C.To show why natural debris is important. D.To introduce different kinds of wild animals. 1.原文第1段明确提到“fallen leaves and dry sticks”和“dead trees and other plant parts”都属于自然残骸,说明自然残骸的核心特征是死亡的植物部分,因此A选项“Dead flowers”符合定义。 2.原文第2段明确说明“When it falls to the ground, it starts to break down because of living things like microorganisms (微生物) and insects.”,直接指出分解自然残骸的是微生物和昆虫。 3.原文第2段“Natural debris helps recycle nutrients (营养物)”对应a;原文第3段“Natural debris provides homes and food for wild animals”对应d;原文第4段“it can control water movement and help the ground hold more water”对应c。 B In many communities in Tianjin today, a new kind of machine is appearing near the gates. It is called the “Smart Recycling Station”. This system is changing the way people deal with their old clothes and waste. The recycling station has a high-tech screen and different doors for different items (物品) , such as old clothes, paper, and plastic bottles. When someone wants to recycle something, they can scan a QRcode (二维码) with their phone or use a special card. Then, the right door will open automatically (自动地) . Inside the station, there are sensors (传感器) and cameras. They can “see” and “weigh” the items. For example, if people put a bag of old clothes into the “Clothes” bin, the system will weigh the clothes and give “points” or money. These “points” can be used to buy daily things such as salt and tissues (纸巾) in a nearby shop. The system can send messages to the phones of workers in recycling companies when a bin is nearly full. In this way, workers don’t have to check every community, which saves a lot of time and energy. “It makes recycling much more interesting,” says Wang Fang, a student from Tianjin. “In the past, my mother used to throw away old clothes or just leave them lying around. But now, she enjoys ‘selling’ them to the smart station. It helps keep our home tidy and protect the environment.” Smart recycling is a great step for a “Green City”. It not only encourages people to recycle correctly but also makes our world a cleaner place to live. 6.According to the passage, people can recycle _________ at the Smart Recycling Station. A.salt and tissues B.old clothes and plastic bottles C.special cards and phones D.high-tech screens and doors 7.How can people open the doors of the Smart Recycling Station? A.By calling the worker. B.By knocking on the door. C.By scanning a QR code. D.By putting in some money. 8.People can use their “points” to _________. A.get new clothes for free B.pay for the recycling C.open the station doors D.buy daily things 9.In Wang Fang’s opinion, the Smart Recycling Station _________. A.makes recycling much more interesting B.is too difficult for her mother to use C.is more expensive than the nearby shop D.takes her too much time to clean the home 10.Which of the following is the correct order of the recycling process? a. The system weighs the items. b. Workers come to clear the bin when it is nearly full. c. The user gets “points” or money. d. The user opens the right door to recycle. A.a-c-d-b B.d-c-a-b C.d-a-c-b D.a-d-c-b 【答案】6.B 7.C 8.D 9.A 10.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 6.原文第二段提到“The recycling station has a high-tech screen and different doors for different items, such as old clothes, paper, and plastic bottles.”,说明人们可以在智能回收机回收旧衣物、纸张和塑料瓶等物品。 7.原文第二段提到“When someone wants to recycle something, they can scan a QR code with their phone or use a special card. Then, the right door will open automatically.”,说明人们可以通过扫描二维码或使用专用卡来打开回收机的门。 8.原文第三段提到“These ‘points’ can be used to buy daily things such as salt and tissues in a nearby shop.”,说明获得的积分可以用来在附近商店购买盐、纸巾等日常用品。 9.原文第四段提到“‘It makes recycling much more interesting,’ says Wang Fang, a student from Tianjin.” The user opens the right door to recycle.),随后系统会对物品称重(a. The system weighs the items.),之后用户会获得积分或现金(c. The user gets “points” or money.),当垃圾桶快满时,工作人员会前来清理(b. Workers come to clear the bin when it is nearly full.),因此正确顺序为d-a-c-b。 Buy less, recycle more—it’s easy to say, but what does it mean? Conscious consumption (环保型消费) is all about making smart choices that benefit both the planet and you. To practice it, you can follow a few key rules. Suppose you are at a supermarket now. After you pay for your things, remember to choose 11 receipts (收据). Today many stores don’t offer printed receipts and have them emailed to you instead, which can greatly reduce the waste of paper. When it comes to fashion, before heading to the store for new clothes, give your old clothes a second 12 . You can fix a broken jacket or a broken bag. In addition, many stylists also suggest taking photos of your own clothes. When you are not sure whether a new item is necessary, a quick check on your phone can help 13 buying items you already have. Buying new digital products usually costs a lot. The best way to prevent this is not to 14 the latest model. Shop to meet your everyday needs—not just to keep up with fashion. In addition, you can look after your equipment in daily life, which helps lower the risk of damage and make it last longer. For example, laptops and headphones should be cleaned 15 so that they can stay in good condition even after years of service. Sometimes, if the shop offers a longer warranty (保修期), just pay for it. Such a choice allows you to get repairs done for free or at a very low price for several years. These rules might seem too challenging to follow at first. But in 2021, a research team found that people who practice conscious consumption feel more satisfied with their decisions. 16 , conscious consumers are often happier. So start small, even with just one environmentally-friendly habit. 11.A.usual B.special C.simple D.electronic 12.A.chance B.look C.hand D.time 13.A.recommend B.collect C.avoid D.order 14.A.look for B.worry about C.go after D.think of 15.A.directly B.regularly C.separately D.immediately 16.A.By the way B.After all C.Above all D.In other words 【答案】11.D 12.A 13.C 14.C 15.B 16.D 【导语】本文围绕环保型消费展开,介绍了践行环保消费的几条关键原则,包括选择电子收据、循环利用旧衣物、理性购买电子产品等,阐述了环保消费对个人和地球的益处,鼓励人们从点滴小事做起,养成环保的消费习惯。 11. “look for”寻找,“worry about”担心,“think of”想到,均不符合语境。 15. “By the way”顺便说一下,“After all”毕竟,“Above all”最重要的是,均不符合上下文逻辑。 World’s Smelliest Fruits Could Be Used to Charge Electric Cars Durian is a fruit that looks like a spiky pineapple. It is a delicacy in some Asian countries, but its smell is so unpleasant that some of those countries have banned it from p 17 places. Scientists in Australia have discovered that they can use the world’s smelliest fruits to make devices that could p 18 electric cars. Vincent Gomes and his colleagues at the University of Sydney used a durian and jackfruit (菠萝蜜) to make energy-storing devices called supercapacitors (超级电容器). Supercapacitors are an alternative to batteries. They can’t store as much energy as a n 19 battery does, but they are much quicker to recharge. In many electric cars, movement energy is changed into electrical energy when the vehicle brakes (刹车). This can be stored in a supercapacitor and released as a source of extra power for acceleration (加速). Durians and jackfruits contain some of the chemicals used in supercapacitors, which gave Gomes the i 20 . To make the fruit-based devices, the team heated and then freeze-dried the cores of the durian and jackfruit to make a special kind of material called an aerogel (气凝胶). Aerogels are one of the world’s lightest solid materials. Often called “frozen smoke”, they are made by removing the liquid from a gel and r 21 it with air. They have many scientific uses, but one of their special properties (性质) is the ability to conduct electric currents, which makes them an important part of supercapacitors. The aerogels made from durians and jackfruits both w 22 well when placed inside a supercapacitor, although the durian aerogel was found to be the better of the two. The discovery is important because the materials currently used to make supercapacitors are expensive. Using natural foods like durians and jackfruits, Gomes says, could reduce environmental pollution, as well as c 23 . 【答案】17.public/ublic 18.power/ower 19.normal/ormal 20.idea/dea 21.replacing/eplacing 22.worked/orked 23.cost/ost 【导语】本文主要讲述了澳大利亚科学家利用榴莲和菠萝蜜制成气凝胶超级电容器,可快速充放电并为电动车提供加速动力。 结合首字母提示及“but its smell is so unpleasant that some of those countries have banned it...” 根据首字母提示及“they can use the world’s smelliest fruits to make devices that could...electric cars.” 结合首字母提示及“Supercapacitors are an alternative to batteries...” 结合首字母提示及“Durians and jackfruits contain some of the chemicals used in supercapacitors…” 结合首字母提示及“the team...to make a special kind of material called an aerogel. Aerogels are one of the world’s lightest solid materials...” 根据首字母提示及“Using natural foods like durians and jackfruits…could reduce environmental pollution...” A Have you ever been to the Songhua River? We need it to drink, keep our bodies and clothes clean, and cook food. Without water, we would not live. Although around 75% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water, not all of it is safe to drink. Freshwater (淡水), which is mostly found in lakes or rivers, only makes up 2.5% of the Earth’s water. Glaciers provide water for drinking, farming, industry, and healthy ecosystems. They are like natural “water towers” that store about 70% of the Earth’s freshwater. However, because of climate change, glaciers are melting (融化) faster than ever before. Billions of people depend on glacial water, and their water safety is in great danger now. In fact, there are many other water problems. But there are also lots of things we can do to save water in our home, like turning off the water while brushing our teeth, only washing our clothes when we have a lot to wash, and so on. Every drop of water we save can not only help solve global water problems but also keep the Earth’s water system healthy. Let’s make small water-saving actions our daily habits! 29.What percentage of Earth’s water is fresh water? 30.What does the theme of World Water Day 2025 show? 31.Why are glaciers called natural “water towers”? 32.What conclusion (结论) can we get from Chart II? 33.Why should we save water? What can you do to save water in your daily life? 29.2.5%. 30.It shows us how important glaciers are and why we need to protect them right away. 31.Because they store about 70% of the Earth’s freshwater. 32.There are serious water problems including shortage, pollution and waste in the world. 33.We should save water because every drop we save can help solve global water problems and keep the Earth’s water system healthy. I can save water by turning off the tap while brushing teeth, taking shorter showers, and reusing water to water plants. 29.第二段提到“Freshwater, which is mostly found in lakes or rivers, only makes up 2.5% of the Earth’s water.”,说明淡水资源仅占地球水资源的 2.5%。 30.图片Chart I提到“The theme for World Water Day 2025 is ‘Glacier Preservation’. It tells us how important glaciers are and why we need to protect them right away.”,说明2025年世界水日的主题展示了冰川的重要性以及保护冰川的紧迫性。 31.第三段提到“They are like natural ‘water towers’ that store about 70% of the Earth’s freshwater.”,说明冰川被称为天然“水塔”是因为它们储存了地球上约70%的淡水。 32. C In June 2025, people talked about an event in which foxes moved onto a rooftop in central London. The roof belongs to a large new office building, but it is not a normal one—this rooftop is a 300-meter-long garden. Built with 40,000 tons of soil and 250 trees, this space shows how modern buildings can include nature. Such roofs are called “biodiverse (生物多样的) green roofs.” Unlike common roofs, they support different native plants and create living spaces for wildlife. These plants attract bees, butterflies, and other small animals. In this way, biodiverse roofs help bring nature back to the city. Expert Chris Roddick calls them “a real lifeline for biodiversity.” The foxes proved that if you create the right environment, nature will come. Since early 2024, the UK has had a new rule called Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). It requires new building projects to improve biodiversity by at least 10%. This has helped the UK catch up with countries like Germany, where one in ten flat roofs is already green. Green roofs also help create “pollinator corridors (传粉者走廊).” Butterflies and other pollinators can only fly short distances to find food. If green spaces are too far apart, insect groups can become separated. “Having even small green rooftop spaces means pollinators can move from roof to roof, helping them spread and survive,” says Roddick. The benefits of green roofs go beyond helping wildlife. Not only do they make buildings look better and keep them warmer in winter and cooler in summer, but they also help reduce noise—something especially helpful for schools and hospitals. Additionally, some green roofs have “blue roofs” under them that collect rainwater and reduce flooding risk. In the end, the foxes will still have to leave when the building opens to 7,000 workers. But the green roof will stay, providing a home for insects and birds. As more cities add green roofs, our urban environments can become greener and more wildlife-friendly for everyone. 34.What event does the writer use to show that modern buildings can include nature? 35.What does the UK’s new rule require building projects to do? 36.How do green roofs help create “pollinator corridors”, according to Roddick? 37.Describe a place or a thing in your neighborhood that helps improve biodiversity. How is it different or similar to the idea in the passage? (Please give two points.) 34.Foxes moved onto a rooftop garden in central London in June 2025. 35.To improve biodiversity by at least 10%. 36.By providing small green rooftop spaces that allow pollinators to move from roof to roof, helping them spread and survive. 37.In my neighborhood, there is a community park with many trees and flowers. Similarity: Both provide living spaces for wildlife, such as birds and insects. Difference: The park is on the ground, while the green roof is on top of a building. 34.文中明确提到“In June 2025, people talked about an event that foxes moved onto a rooftop in central London.”,因此作者用“狐狸搬进伦敦市中心的屋顶花园”这一事件,说明现代建筑可以融入自然。 35.文中提到“Since early 2024, the UK has had a new rule called Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). It requires new building projects to improve biodiversity by at least 10%.”,因此英国新规要求新建建筑项目将生物多样性提高至少10%。 36.文中引用专家Chris Roddick的话:“Having even small green rooftop spaces means pollinators can move from roof to roof, helping them spread and survive.”,说明绿色屋顶通过为传粉者提供连续的栖息地,帮助它们在屋顶间移动、扩散和生存,从而形成传粉者走廊。 37. In my neighborhood, there is a community park with many trees and flowers. B In many communities in Tianjin today, a new kind of machine is appearing near the gates. A.a-c-d-b B.d-c-a-b C.d-a-c-b D.a-d-c-b Buy less, recycle more—it’s easy to say, but what does it mean? 11.A.usual B.special C.simple D.electronic 12.A.chance B.look C.hand D.time 13.A.recommend B.collect C.avoid D.order 14.A.look for B.worry about C.go after D.think of 15.A.directly B.regularly C.separately D.immediately 16.A.By the way B.After all C.Above all D.In other words World’s Smelliest Fruits Could Be Used to Charge Electric Cars Durian is a fruit that looks like a spiky pineapple. A Have you ever been to the Songhua River? It’s famous as the “Mother River of Northeast China”. The Songhua River runs through Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces, and passes through Harbin in the south of Heilongjiang. With its south source from Tianchi (天池) of Changbai Mountain, it is about 1,927 kilometres long. It is the largest tributary (支流) of the Heilongjiang River and one of the most important rivers in Northeast China. Every year, thousands of tourists from all over the world come to Harbin in order to enjoy the beautiful sights along the Songhua River. With the development of our society, protecting the Songhua River has become a hot topic. In fact, people of Harbin are trying to improve the environment of the river. On the one hand, they set up Sun Island National Wetland (湿地) Park. If you go there, you can see birds flying and wild ducks swimming. On the other hand, factories mustn’t put wastewater into the river. Fishes are living in the clean water. At the same time, they plant colourful flowers and green trees along the Songhua River. It is nice for people to go there when flowers come out and leaves turn green. The Songhua River is the mother river in Heilongjiang Province. Each of us should try our best to protect it. 24.How many provinces does the Songhua River run through? 25.Why do many tourists come to Harbin every year? 26.Are people of Harbin trying to make the environment of the Songhua River better? 27.What can you see if you go to Sun Island National Wetland Park? 28.As a middle school student, what can you do to protect the Songhua River? B Water is one of the most important resources (资源) on Earth.
