DNA is a special part inside every cell (细胞). It tells the cell what to be—part of a human, an animal, or a plant. Here’s a way to see your own DNA!
What you’ll need
◈A clear cup ◈A spoon ◈Salt
◈Dish soap (洗洁精) ◈Isopropyl alcohol (异丙醇)
The most important! Ask adults to help deal with alcohol!!!
What to do
Put on your safety glasses—we’re about to do some chemistry!
❖ Put a half spoon of salt into a glass half full of water.
❖ Take a mouthful of the saltwater and keep it in your mouth for a minute, but don’t swallow (吞咽) it.
❖ Pour the saltwater back into the glass. The mixture now has some cells from your mouth!
❖ Add one drop of dish soap to the saltwater mixture and mix it gently. Try not to make suds (泡沫).
❖ Next, ask an adult to slowly pour some drops of isopropyl alcohol down the side of the cup so that it sits on top of the salty soapy water. Don’t shake.
❖ In about a minute you should see tiny white, thread-like (线形的) things forming on the top of the alcohol. This is your DNA!

At the 2025 Spring Festival Gala, the “Yang-BOT” performance amazed everyone. People were surprised to see robots dancing so well. However, in 2026, the new show “Wu-BOT” took technology to a whole new level. It was not just a dance; it was a breathtaking martial arts (Kung Fu) show.
In “Wu-BOT,” robots performed with students from a famous martial arts school. These robots did things that even many humans find difficult. For example, they performed single-leg backflips and jumped nearly three meters high into the air. They even used “dexterous hands” to wave wooden staffs (棍) just like real Kung Fu masters.
How did they become so “smart”? Wang Xingxing, the founder of Unitree Robotics, shared the secret. He said these robots practiced over 100 million times in a computer simulation (模拟) before they stepped onto the real stage. This is called “Reinforcement Learning.” It helps robots find the best way to keep their balance and complete difficult moves. “Wu-BOT” is more than just a show. It shows that Chinese robots are becoming faster, stronger, and more flexible. In the future, this technology could help robots work in factories or even help people at home.
From “Yang-BOT” to “Wu-BOT,” we can see that the dream of “man and machine working together” is coming true. The future of technology is truly exciting!
51. Which of the following is difficult for many humans according to the passage?
A. Dancing to music with robots. B. Performing single-leg backflips.
C. Jumping far. D. Making wooden staffs.
52. What is “Reinforcement Learning” according to the passage?
A. Training robots so that they can be real Kung Fu masters.
B. Training robot that can work in factories and at home.
C. Teaching robots to communicate with humans.
D. Learning through lots of virtual practice in a simulated world.
53. Which of the following may happen in the future?
A. Robots will replace humans at the Spring Festival Gala.
B. Robots will be further developed.
C. Humans will become faster and stronger by using “dexterous hands”.
D. Computer simulations will be more important than real-life practice.
54. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The history of the Spring Festival Gala.
B. How Wang Xingxing trained Unitree Robots.
C. The amazing performance of “Wu-BOT”.
D. The differences between Yang-BOT and Wu-BOT.

Tree-ear, a thirteen-year-old orphan, lived under a bridge in Ch’ulp’o, a village of potters (陶工) in medieval Korea. He shared his home with Crane-man, an old man with a lame (跛脚的) leg who had cared for him since he was a baby. Tree-ear’s greatest wish was to learn how to make celadon (青瓷) pottery, the beautiful green ceramic (陶瓷作品) that made the village famous.
Every morning, Tree-ear slipped away to watch Min, the most skilled potter in the village, work at his wheel (制陶转轮). He stood hidden behind a bamboo screen, breathing in the smell of wet clay and listening to the hum of the spinning wheel. One day, Min caught him watching. “Begone!” the potter shouted, waving his hands. Tree-ear bowed deeply and left, but he did not stop coming.
Weeks later, Tree-ear made a mistake. He reached out to touch a newly finished celadon vase, and it slipped from his fingers, shattering (破碎) into a dozen pieces. He froze, then knelt to gather the shards (碎片). “I will work for you without pay,” he said to Min, “until I have made up for the damage.”
Min stared at him for a long time. Finally, he nodded. For the next three months, Tree-ear did the hardest work in the potter’s yard: chopping wood, carrying water, and digging clay. He never complained, even when Min refused to teach him a single thing about pottery. Crane-man noticed his tiredness and said,
“Patience, Tree-ear. The potter who rushes to shape the clay will only make a flawed (有瑕疵的) bowl.”
One evening, Min’s wife, Min Jeong, found Tree-ear sitting by the kiln, studying the way the fire changed the clay’s color. She smiled and handed him a warm bowl of rice. “He sees your heart,” she said quietly. Tree-ear looked up, hope rising in his chest.

①Stand in front of a mirror. How much do you really know about the person looking back at you? This question goes far beyond simple looks—it asks about our true selves, our hidden strengths, and our blind spots we never notice.
②That’s not an easy job. To help students complete this important task of self-discovery, schools across China are now offering more classes and activities on self-knowledge. One popular tool they use is the Johari Window, which has helped many middle school students gain a clearer understanding of themselves.
③The Johari Window, a useful tool to know ourselves better, was created by two American psychologists, divides one’s self-concept into four clear areas: the open area (known to everyone), the hidden area (known only to oneself), the blind spot (known to others but unknown to oneself), and the unknown area (unknown to anyone). This simple but powerful way helps people see themselves from a completely new angle, making it a key resource for personal growth and better relationships.
④The open area needs little explanation, as it includes facts and traits shared by all, like our names or hobbies, and never gets in the way of self-understanding. For example, many students know they are good at playing basketball and that their classmates also see this ability clearly—this is exactly what the open area represents.
⑤The blind spot, however, holds surprising truths. Many students don’t realize small habits or moods that others see clearly. For instance, 13-year-old Li Hua from Chongqing once thought he was a patient person, but his classmates’ feedback made him realize he often gets annoyed quickly when group projects go wrong—a flaw he never saw before. This honest feedback lets him fix these problems and grow.
⑥The unknown area is the most exciting part, as it holds hidden abilities we haven’t found yet. A student who once hated math might practice hard and find a hidden talent for numbers. Take Wang Yu as an example: he used to get low scores in math exams, but after setting daily practice goals and asking teachers for help, he not only improved his grades but also discovered a strong logical thinking ability he never knew he had, turning a weakness into a strength.
⑦The hidden area often stays quiet. Many students fear sharing their real hobbies or feelings, worried they’ll seem silly. But when one student bravely shared that they loved reading classic cartoons instead of just “serious” books, it encouraged others to open up about their own hidden hobbies.
⑧In the end, the Johari Window helps students understand themselves better. By exploring their blind spots, unknown talents, and hidden sides, they learn to accept themselves and connect with others more deeply.
59. What is the main purpose of the Johari Window?
A. To remind people of the importance of self-knowledge.
B. To help teachers understand their students better.
C. To help people improve their personalities.
D. To help people know themselves better.
60. Why does the writer mention Li Hua and Wang Yu in the passage?
A. To show how helpful the Johari Window is.
B. To tell readers their poor school grades.
C. To ask students to take more after-school classes.
D. To explain how to work in group projects.
61. Which of the following is NOT true?
A. When a student is shy to show his love for drawing in public, it is in the hidden area.
B. When everyone knows a student is good at singing, it is in the open area.
C. When a student is careless but he never realizes it himself, it is in the blind spot.
D. When a student knows he is quiet and others know it too, it is in the unknown area.
62. The writer writes the passage following a certain logic. If we divide the passage into 4 parts, which of the following best matches the structure?
A. ①② → ③④ → ⑤⑥⑦ → ⑧ B. ① → ②③④ → ⑤⑥⑦ → ⑧
C. ①② → ③ → ④⑤⑥⑦ → ⑧ D. ① → ②③ → ④⑤⑥⑦ → ⑧

Giving Aspirin to Dogs
Ivana_88 (a new dog parent)

Hello everyone! I was wondering if it’s safe to give aspirin (阿司匹林) to my 2-year-old dog. I think she hurt her leg, and she’s in so much pain right now. I’ve been trying to reach the vet (兽医), but they aren’t picking up the phone, and I can’t get her until next Monday. So I just want to give her something to make her more comfortable until I can go to the vet. Thank you for your help!

I’m not 100% sure if aspirin is safe for dogs, so I never ever give my birds any medicine without double-checking with my vet first. Some drugs that are totally harmless for humans can be truly dangerous for animals, even in a tiny amount. It’s better to wait for professional advice.

I once gave an aspirin to my dog when she was hurt, and she was totally fine afterward. The next day I took her to the vet but she was already better. I think it might be dangerous if you give too much, so don’t exceed the dose limits (剂量上限)! I hope your dog gets back on her feet soon.

Hi there! Before giving your dog any medicine like aspirin, you must consider her age and health first—aspirin can be more harmful for young or unfit dogs. Before seeing a vet, just keep her warm, quiet and comfortable.

In a noisy world where everyone seems in a hurry to speak and share their own ideas, a simple but powerful skill called “quiet listening” is gaining popularity among teenagers. It doesn’t mean staying silent all the time, but rather giving the speaker your complete and undivided attention.
Take 14-year-old Lily as an example. Last month, her best friend, Mia, failed an important exam and was on the edge (边缘) of tears. In the past, Lily would have shared her own exam struggles (困境) or rushed to give tips. But this time, she practiced quiet listening. She put her phone in her bag, looked Mia in the eyes, and just let her talk about her disappointment. She didn’t interrupt (打断), didn’t judge, and only nodded to show she understood. This small act made Mia feel much better and strengthened their friendship.
When people are not listened to carefully, they often end up feeling ignored (被忽视) or even unimportant. Quiet listening, on the other hand, makes others feel truly understood and deeply respected. What’s more, it reduces the pressure of having to “fix” problems right away, making it much easier to build true and long-lasting friendships.
However, some worry quiet listening is too hard to master. In fact, it is a skill that can be learned through small daily actions: make eye contact with the speaker, keep your phone in your pocket during conversations, and force yourself to wait at least three seconds after the speaker finishes before you start talking. These simple steps will train you to focus fully on what the other person is saying, rather than your own response (回答).
In short, quiet listening is never a sign of weakness. In such a fast-paced world, choosing to listen quietly is the most sincere way to show your respect for others and the easiest way to get closer to each other.
“Quiet listening” is getting popular among teenagers. It means that ____77____. It helps build better relationships for two main reasons: it makes people feel valued and understood, and it strengthens true, long-term relationships because ____78____. This skill ____79____ through some daily actions: practice eye contact, keep your phones out of sight, and wait three seconds before talking after the speaker stops. In a word, quiet listening can help show your sincere respect and ____80____.

【原文】Anger is like a knife. It is easy to hurt people around you and lead to fights. Sometimes you get so angry that you feel like you are going to burst. It may seem like your anger will be the boss of you. You may shout at others, say hurtful words, or even do something impolite without thinking. What can you do to control your anger? Here are some ideas to help you. First, take a deep breath. Count from one to ten slowly in your mind before you open your mouth. Then count another ten. Think about what to do or say before making a choice. Second, walk away from the place that makes you angry. Go to a quiet place where you can make yourself calm down quickly, or stay somewhere else until you’ve thought about what you can do. Third, use proper words to tell your feelings. Speak calmly and clearly about what is making you upset. Instead of fighting with others, let others know how you feel in a gentle way so they can understand you better. Last, do something to let those angry feelings out. For example, doing a chore that you hate is a very good idea. You can put your time and energy into the chore, and when the chore is done, you may feel better. I hope these suggestions can help you when you feel angry. With practice, you will learn to stay calm and not to fight with others.

48. According to the passage, which of the following isn’t needed?
A. A spoon. B. Some salt. C. Some juice. D. Dish soap.
49. What is the correct order of “see your DNA”?
①
②
③
④
⑤
A. ①⑤②③④ B. ①②③⑤④ C. ①②④⑤③ D. ②④①③⑤

——Excerpt from A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park

【答案】59. D 60. A 61. D 62. C
【解析】
【导语】本文介绍了Johari Window这一自我认知工具,它将自我概念分为四个区域:开放区、隐藏区、盲点和未知区,并通过实例帮助学生更好地了解自己。
【59题详解】
第③段指出:“a useful tool to know ourselves better”,说明Johari Window的主要目的是帮助人们更好地了解自己。
【60题详解】

Giving Aspirin to Dogs
