They have simple shapes and bright colours, and express wishes for good luck and a happy life. The figures on your right are made by hand. They usually show popular scenes from traditional operas.

Chinese Chess
Chinese chess, also known as Xiangqi, is a classic traditional board game handicraft with a history of over two thousand years.
The main materials for making Chinese chess sets include wood, stone, and ivory (though the use of ivory is now restricted). What's really special about Chinese chess is that it's full of fun strategies (策略). Each piece moves in its own way, just like soldiers on a battlefield (战场). When you play it, you need to think hard and plan your moves.
Chinese chess is really popular because it has a long history and a lot of culture behind it. It's a big part of traditional Chinese culture. It's not only a fun game but also shows how smart the Chinese people are.
