A new study showed how to deal with wrong information. 152 students joined in the study. They all read one article with wrong information. They also read another article which gave correct information.
The students were tested on what they knew about fluoride (氟化物) in water. Then they read two articles. One article said fluoride is harmful. The other said fluoride is safe and good for teeth. All the students read the same wrong information, but different groups of students either read an article with the correct information in facts or read one that first refuted (否定) the wrong information and then in facts. The study also tested the effects of letting the students read the correct article before or after the wrong information.
The result showed that all the students learned under four conditions, but the worst-performing group was the one that read the wrong information first and then in facts. Those students who had read the refutation article either before or after the wrong information had fewer mistakes. They also had more positive feelings toward the subject.
With large amounts of information online, it can be hard for people to tell right from wrong. This can cause problems. Researchers are looking for ways to help people to avoid the bad effects of wrong information. This study proves that the way of refutation has a bright future.

We often say something is “as white as snow”, but do you know that snow isn’t really white?
Snow is ice crystals (冰晶). When temperatures are below 0°C, water vapor (水蒸气) in clouds turns into ice crystals. These crystals grow by taking in more water vapor and finally become snow crystals that fall to the ground.
The snow looks white because of sunlight. Sunlight has all colors, like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The ice in snow acts like tiny mirrors. When the sun shines on it, these “mirrors” spread every color of light in all directions. Because all the colors mix together perfectly, our eyes see the snow as white.
But snow can also appear in different colors. For example, heavy wet snow that is packed very tight (紧的) can appear blue. This is because the snow takes in most colors of light but sends out blue light more easily. Also, when the sun is low in the morning or evening, snow can look golden or pink because the sunlight itself is warm-colored at that time.
34.Paragraph 2 is mainly about ________.
A.the different colors of snow B.the way snow is formed
C.the temperature of the clouds D.the beauty of winter weather
35.Why does heavy wet snow look blue?
A.Because it reflects all colors of light.
B.Because the ice crystals are very small.
C.Because the sunlight is blue in the morning.
D.Because it keeps most light but lets out blue light.
36.How does the writer describe why snow appears in different colors?
A.By telling a story about a scientist.
B.By giving examples and reasons.
C.By asking readers many questions.
D.By comparing snow with rain and wind.

I am from Beijing. Every Spring Festival, I go to the Baiyun Temple for its Miaohui, or temple fair (庙会). It’s a fun event. My favorite activity is “da jin qian yan.” People throw coins at a large wooden coin. At the center of this coin, there is a bell. They say hitting it brings good luck.
This Miaohui is only one of many in China. 37
It had to do with religion (宗教). Long ago, Buddhism and Taoism (佛教和道教) both wanted to attract more people. They built temples (庙宇) to do so. As more visitors came, shops opened near the temples. 38 This is how Miaohui began.
Later, cultural activities were held at Miaohui. These included god worship and folk performances. The most famous was Xingxiang. People put Buddha statues on floats and paraded them.
39 People would go to Miaohui to buy and sell goods. This was the most popular during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. People also went to Miaohui to celebrate Chinese New Year and some other holidays.
Today, people have more to enjoy at Miaohui. For example, Longfusi Miaohui shows folk crafts (技艺) and organizes different cultural events, such as Beijing opera. 40 These activities help people experience traditional Chinese culture in a fun way. 【详解】句意:汤姆躺在床上,他的妹妹把她所有的照片摊开在他的床上。真是一团糟。
考查动词辨析。lay放置(动词原形)、躺(lie的过去式);laid放置(lay的过去式)。根据“It was really a mess.”可知,时态是一般过去时;根据“Tom...in bed”可知,此处表示“躺在床上”,所以第一空应用lie的过去式lay;根据“his sister...out all her pictures”可知,此处表示“摊开照片”,所以第二空应用lay的过去式laid。故选B。

【详解】句意:我几乎不怀疑,如果你参观无锡,鼋头渚值得参观。
考查宾语从句以及动名词用法。当“doubt”用于否定形式时,后面通常接“that”引导的从句,表示“毫不怀疑”,因此第一个空用that,排除A、B选项;be worth doing sth.“值得做某事”,因此第二个空用visiting,排除D选项。故选C。

考查介词的用法。in在……里面;on在……上面。表示“在某一层楼”要用介词on;表示“在某栋建筑物里”要用介词in,根据“Which floor is your flat ... the tall building?”

分析“Who...sport in your family?”可知,此句的主语是Who,当who作为主语时,谓语动词应使用第三人称单数形式,所以第一空应选likes;答语中应用助动词代替前句中的实义动词以避免重复,主语My father and I表示复数,所以第二空应用助动词do。故选D。
7.—Grandma, I want to tell you something about my new school life.

The name Miaohui is still fitting today as most fairs still happen near temples.
A.Would you like to go and visit the temple fair?
B.For this reason, temples became fewer and fewer.
C.Some fairs even hold traditional wedding celebrations.

The name Miaohui is still fitting today as most fairs still happen near temples.

B.For this reason, temples became fewer and fewer.
C.Some fairs even hold traditional wedding celebrations.
