Federica Brignone tilted her head toward the sky and watched the Italian Air Force's flying unit leave behind
a trail of her country's colors above the snowy peaks of the Dolomites.Moments later, with Italy's president
watching, she stepped onto the stage and received a gold medal. It was a fairytale ending to her super-G victory
at the Milan Cortina Olympics-one she herself could hardly believe.
Just ten months earlier, the Italian skier had broken multiple bones in her left leg in a terrible crash. She
could not walk for three months and needed two operations.A metal plate and seven or eight screws()still
hold her leg together."I didn't know if I would be able to walk again.Or ever ski again,"she said."For me,it
was just special to be here.
Yet on race day,Brignone delivered a near-perfect run.She finished 0.41 seconds ahead of the silver medalist-a
huge gap in Alpine skiing. Many competitors struggled with the difficult course, made even harder by fog and
flat light,.but the35-year-old“Tiger,”known for her fighting spirit and the animal design on her helmet(头a盔),
was unstoppable.
This victory gave Brignone the one big prize missing from her long career:an Olympic gold medal. She
became the oldest woman to win an Alpine skiing gold at the Olympics. It was her fourth Olympic medal, tying
the record for the most by an Italian woman skier.
Her journey back was anything but easy. After her crash in April, she did not compete again until late
January-just weeks before the Olympics. The team doctor said that for a normal person, recovery would still be
going on."But it's the champion that makes the difference.

In January,OpenAI began to introduce a new feature to ChatGPT in certain countries. This feature, called
ChatGPT Health,is designed for users to upload their medical data and ask for health advice.
However,a new study has found that ChatGPT Health regularly fails to recognize the need for emergency
medical care, raising serious safety concerns. The study, which has been published in Nature Medicine, found
that in over half of the cases that were real emergencies,ChatGPT underestimated the seriousness and urgency of
the situation.
The researchers created 60 realistic medical scenarios (that ranged from mild health problems to
medical emergencies. They also had doctors look at each scenario and decide what type of medical care was
needed in each case. The researchers then asked ChatGPT Health for advice for each of these scenarios. They
varied the patients'personal details and other factors, such as comments from family or friends, each time they
asked.Altogether,the researchers received 960 responses.
In 52%of cases where people should have been advised to go to the hospital immediately,ChatGPT Health
suggested staying at home or making a regular medical appointment. On the other hand,in almost 65%of non-urgent
cases,ChatGPT Health advised people to get immediate medical care.ChatGPT Health was also 12 times more
likely to take symptoms()less seriously and suggest less urgent care if informed that a friend or family
member thought the situation wasn't serious.
Responding to the findings, some health experts have warned that using ChatGPT Health could lead to
people not getting the urgent medical care they need,as well as an increase in people asking for unnecessary
medical care.
The researchers say their results suggest that AI systems such as ChatGPT Health are not adaptable enough
to respond to serious medical inquiries, and that humans may still be needed to oversee such important medical
decisions.
28.What could users do with ChatGPT Health?
A.Treat all emergency medical conditions.
B.Access others'personal details.
C.Get real-time help from human doctors.
D.Upload medical data for health advice.

Inspired by the thunderous footsteps of the huge dinosaur in Jurassic Park,a German startup called
IMENSUS has designed a rover()that could change the way we explore the Moon. The rover generates
scismic()waves that travel deep into the ground, creating artificial quakes to map what lies bencath.
"We're shaking the ground,"said David Frey, head of engineering.
On Earth, this technology helps mining companies locate valuable materials such as copper and gold.
Seismic waves slow down when passing through dense,mineral-rich rocks.By measuring wave speeds with
surface sensors, prospectors can identify underground resources without digging. But Frey believes, the real
potential lies beyond our planet. As space agencies set their sights on the Moon, accessing local resources-such
as ice at the lunar South Pole and regolith(for construction-will be essential."Everyone's just thinking,
"Let's go,dig, and use the material. But there might be a huge rock underneath. You want to know this before
you go,because it's super expensive,Frey explained.
Unlike past scientific missions that relied on unpredictable natural moonquakes, this method would let the
rover generate controlled seismic events on demand.Lunar seismologist Dr.Nicholas Schmerr from the University of
Maryland noted that such seismic sounding can effectively locate structures within the top kilometer of the
subsurface, including lava tubes or buried ices.
However,Schmerr also warned that extreme temperatures, solar radiation, and sharp, rough regolith on
the Moon could easily destroy machinery. While IMENSUS's Earth-based pilot phase is set to begin in 2027,
applying the same technology on the Moon will require careful engincering to ensure survival in such harsh
conditions.
Still, both experts agree that seismic exploration will be vital for future lunar missions.Whether
IMENSUS's concept reaches the Moon depends on the progress of programs like NASA's Artemis. But as Frey
sees it,the same technology could one day be used on Mars or even asteroids. One thing is certain:if humans are
to build a lasting presence beyond Earth,we must first understand what lies beneath the surface.
32.What do surface sensors do in the seismic technology?
A.Locate ice at the lunar South Pole.
B.Analyze underground resources.
C.Measure the speed of seismic waves.
D.Dig out mineral-rich rocks directly.
33.How is the new seismic method different from past missions?
A.It needs underground sensors.
B.It relies on natural seismic activities.
C.It produces controlled moonquakes.
D.It investigates deep lunar structures.
34.What does the underlined word "harsh"in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Calm.
B.Severe.
C.Mild.
D.Normal.

Cross-cultural communication can feel challenging at first due to various cultural differences.36.Here
are four key strategies for better cross-cultural connection.
Learn about the culture beforehand to avoid simple mistakes.Understanding basic rules and customs of
the culture shows your respect.37.Knowing what is polite and rude prevents awkward moments and boosts
your confidence.Small efforts like learning some polite phrases also leave a good impression on others.
Speak clearly and stay away from slang()or difficult idioms.Slow down your specch a little when
talking to non-native speakers and never shout-it often seems rude.38,as slang hardly translates well and
can cause offense.Politely ask them to explain again if you notice confusion, for clear communication builds trust
and ensures your message is understood correctly.
Pay close attention to non-verbal signals like gestures and eye contact.Body language varies worldwide,
so what scems normal to you may offend others.39.Use open-handed gestures at first.Observe locals'
personal space and rules about physical contact, and adjust your behavior to show cultural sensitivity.
40.Cultural differences may lead to confusion, but anger is useless.Accept that conversations won't
always go smoothly.Honestly admit your confusion and ask for clarification gently, and encourage the other
person to do the same.Being open-minded helps you learn from these interactions, and patience creates a positive
environment where both sides feel valued.
A.Tell others your own culture is better to show confidence
B.For example, pointing with one finger is rude in some places
C.Remain patient and open-minded when misunderstandings happen
D.You can easily find such relevant information online or in guidebooks
E.But good communication skills alone cannot solve all cultural problems
F.However,it becomes much smoother with targeted and practical methods
G.Use standard words instead of casual expressions that may confuse others

My Low-carbon School Life
Annie Byrne,a single mother, lived in a small house with a small backyard in a Canadian town.Having lost
her full-time job,she had to work several part-time jobs to make ends meet.Money was always tight, and she
often skipped meals to save for Simon's school supplies and utility bills.A cold wind blew through the broken
kitchen window, but since she couldn't afford to fix it,Annie had stuffed old towels into the gaps to keep out the
cold.Every night,Annie tossed and turned in bed, worrying about putting food on the table for the next day.
Simon, who pretended to be asleep, hated seeing his mom bury her face in her hands and cry quietly.
One day,Simon overheard his mom talking to a friend about the vegetables she'd been growing."I planted
them to save on groceries,"Annie sighed, wiping sweat from her forehead-she'd just rushed home from her
cleaning job."Now,I'm wondering if I could sell the extras for a little money. But I'm just too worn out to do
anything else after work.
The idea stayed with Simon, but soon,a better plan occurred to him.He remembered how his classmate
had mentioned that the farm's fresh produce sold fast.
"Mom,I've got a better idea,"Simon said after her friend left."One of my classmates'families runs an
organic farm. After school,I can go there to buy fresh vegetables and sell them at the street comner.Could I use
our emergency savings to buy supplies? The produce is organic, and people around here care about that.I
promise it won't get in the way of my studies."
"Are you sure,Simon? It might take up all your free time, and you'll miss out on hanging out with your
friends.”
"I'm sure,Mom.I don't mind at all. What matters is that you don't have to work so hard. You come home
so tired every day that you can barely speak,"Simon said firmly.
Reluctantly, his mother agreed and gave him the small amount of money for the purchase.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
The next afternoon,Simon rode his bike to the farm.
The steady income began to ease the family's burden().

W:I've finished all my research, but I haven't been able to organize it,so I haven't begun the paper yet.

W:Just enough to get by really.

W:I'm on my way to you now.I should be there in about half an hour.
M:Oh,don't worry.Take your time.It's only seven forty-five now.
W:Perfect! Then we can still leave your place before eight thirty, right?
(Text4)
M:Linda,I didn't see your homework.Did you forget to do it?
W:Sorry,Mr.Green.I didn't feel all right last night and I went to sleep early.
M:Oh,no wonder you look pale. You should see a doctor after class.
(Text 5)
W:You're 30 minutes late!What happened?
M:I'm so sorry. There was an accident on the bridge this morning.
W:Oh no!
M:Yeah, all the cars were moving really slowly because of it.
(Text 6)
W:Hi,John.I'm so stressed out.I have to get everything ready for the party tonight, and there's still so much to do.
M:Oh,is it for your brother's birthday?I remember it's coming up.Don't worryI can help if you like.
W:Yes!That's great, thanks.I've already ordered the cake online, but I haven't even started cooking yet.
M:I'm not a great cook, but I can definitely help you clean the apartment if you want.Just tell me what needs doing.
W:Really?Huge help! The living room is a bit messy right now,so that's the main thing.
M:No problem.I'll come over an hour earlier to help you tidy everything up.
(Text 7)
W:Mike!Long time no see!Hardly recognize you. What are you doing in this building?
M:Sarah! What a surprise! It must be five years since we graduated from college, right? How have you been all this time?
W:Great, thanks.I just gave a presentation on the new marketing plan in the conference room upstairs.
M:Oh,was that you speaking?I actually caught the last part of it on my way out.I thought the structure and data were very clear
and easy to follow-really impressive work.
W:Thank you!I really appreciate that, especially coming from you.Listen,I have a meeting at 1:00 pm that I need to prepare for,
but I've got some time now.Would you like to grab a quick coffee in the cafeteria downstairs?
M:I'd love to,but unfortunately I have a client call in about ten minutes. How about planning a proper lunch next week to catch up?
(Text 8)

M:Yes,Lisa.I really need a quiet place to finish my lengthy history paper before tomorrow's deadline.
W:Me,too.I have to prepare for my biology exam. But didn't you say last week you had overdue library novels?
M:Oh,right!I completely forgot to return them with all my assignments.
W:You should probably take care of that first,or you might get a late fee added to your account.

M:Lena,I know you've been dancing for years.Did you start directly with contemporary dance when you were young?
W:No,not really. My mother put me in ballet classes at age six and I've carried that with me ever since. That's really been my true
foundation as a dancer.
M:I see.So what eventually led you to join a national dance academy? Was it mainly your teacher's recommendation?
W:Not really,it came more from my own feeling.I needed to improve my skills further and reach a truly professional level. So it was
a very personal decision.
M:That makes sense.Speaking of creating and not just performing, have you ever tried to plan the dance for a full show?My friend
tried it recently and found that it wasn't just about teamwork;in fact, creating original work was far harder than he ever expected.
W:I completely agree with that. It's a huge challenge to build a whole routine from nothing, with no one else's steps to follow.
M:I can imagine. And on a different note, you've joined a lot of international competitions, right?I've always heard they are great
events for making professional connections and meeting people.
W:That's true. You certainly can meet a lot of people there. But what impresses me most is that the atmosphere is just intensely
competitive-everyone's mainly there to win.

kind to each other.I always notice everyone's caring behaviour towards other classmates, and we can all learn to treat each other
better. We all want to live in a happier world, right?I'm talking about being polite and how it makes life better for everyone.
When I was your age,my dad told me some simple rules. These rules improved my life in school and work,so I want to share
them with you all as well.
First, never laugh at others when they make mistakes.Second, always let people speak and listen to them closely. And most
importantly, treat others the way you want to be treated. No need to write these down.Instead,I'll share a paper with these rules
listed. Before we review the next rules,I'd like some of you to present a story with the class about a very polite person you know.

根据since the Spring Festival holiday可知,句子要用现在完成时。主语“The park's
8,O00-square-meter‘sunset ice rink(冰场)”是单数,故填has seen.
“allow sb.to do sth.”
6l.frozen考查非谓语动词。
62.which
Many visitors also lie
on the
(freeze)lake in warm red outfits to take photos”,关系词在从句中作主语,所以用which引导。
events
“cooperate with sb.”
attractive.

One possible version:
The next afternoon,Simon rode his bike to the farm. With the money his mom had given him,he bought some fresh lettuce,
tomatoes, and carrots, and set up a small stand at the street corner. He greeted passers-by politely, explaining that the vegetables
were fresh from a local organic farm. His honesty and the quality of the produce quickly won people over.As demand grew,he even
invited a few friends to help him out on weekends. What began as a one-person operation turned into a small weekend business.
The steady income began to ease the family's burden ()For the first time in months,Simon's mother no longer skipped
meals or dragged herself home completely exhausted. She even set aside money each week to fix the broken kitchen window.Simon
noticed his mom smiling more often, and the quiet tears at night became a thing of the past. His heart was filled with relief-and a
quiet pride in knowing he'd made a difference.
