One day, a curious student went to his teacher and asked, “Madam, what exactly is greed (贪婪)?” The teacher, with a kind smile, replied, “Let me show you. Come with me to the chocolate factory.”
As they stepped into the chocolate factory, a rich and inviting smell filled the air. There were chocolates of all shapes and sizes everywhere. Some were in the shape of hearts, some were stars, and others were just big, round balls. The student’s eyes shone with excitement.
The teacher then told the student, “You can pick the biggest chocolate you see, but remember, once you move forward, you can’t turn back.”
The student started walking slowly. At first, he saw a large heart-shaped chocolate. He thought, “Maybe there’s an even bigger one ahead.” So he kept going. A little further, he saw a huge star-shaped chocolate. But again, he was not sure, believing there was a better choice waiting for him.
As he walked on, he noticed that the chocolates were getting smaller. He felt a feeling of sadness in his heart. He had missed those big chocolates he saw earlier. In the end, he had no choice but to pick a small, round chocolate.
The teacher, looking at the student, said gently, “This is greed. You always want more and more, but sometimes you end up with less. We should be satisfied with what we have and make wise choices. Don’t let greed prevent us from seeing clearly.”
In our lives, we often face many choices. If we are always looking for something better and never satisfied with what we have, we might lose the best things. Therefore, it’s important to value what is in front of us and not be too greedy. Wise people always know when to stop and take chances.

Choking (窒息) happens when something gets stuck in the throat and blocks the movement of air. For adults, food is the most common cause. Young children may choke on small objects. Choking is very dangerous. A choking person can die within four minutes if no one acts to help.
Recognizing the signs of choking is the first step to help others in the right way. You must make sure that people are truly choking and not experiencing another health problem, such as a heart attack. You can look for the following signs: they have trouble speaking, and they look scared, shocked or confused; their skin and lips may turn blue or grey, and they may put one or both hands on their throat. If the person cannot cough strongly on their own, you must take action at once.
Call 120 immediately. At the same time, you can try to help the person by using a first-aid method called Heimlich Maneuver (海姆立克急救法).
Give five back blows. First, stand behind the choking person. Place your arms across his or her chest (胸部) to support the person’s body. Bend the person forward so that the upper body is facing the ground. Then, hit five times hard between the person’s shoulder blades (肩胛骨) with the heel (手掌根) of your hand.
Give five abdominal thrusts (腹部冲击). Stand with one foot in front of the other for balance. Wrap (抱紧) your arms around the person and gently bend him or her forward. Make a fist (拳头) with one hand and place it just above the person’s navel (肚脐). Hold your fist with your other hand. Press into the person’s abdomen with a quick, upward thrust, as if trying to lift the person up. Repeat five times.
Repeat the steps. Continue alternating between five back blows and five abdominal thrusts until the object is out or professional help arrives.
It’s important to remember that in case of choking, staying calm and acting quickly can make a big difference. Knowing how to deal with such dangers is important for everyone.

Moving from “scores first” to “health first”, China is making its education healthier and more sustainable (可持续的). This change is an important step for students’ overall development. 36
A primary school in Nanchang turned roof tops into “sky playgrounds”. 37 In Beijing, all primary and middle schools started class sports activities, with plans to hold 400,000 matches this year.
Letting students get enough rest is also important. A middle school in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, has stopped morning reading. 38 This gives them more time for sleep and breakfast.
39 Shandong Province has seen students’ myopia rate drop by 4.27 percentage points over the past three years. The provincial education department uses students’ physical health and myopia rate to check local government work. This is to make local governments care more about students’ health.
These steps are taken under China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for our country’s development. Earlier in March, Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng, stressed two goals: sweaty bodies and sparkling eyes (身上有汗,眼中有光). 40 He also said myopia rates have dropped for four straight years. A new round of student mental (心理) health programs will also begin, using sports, arts, labor (劳动), outdoor activities and reading to improve mental health. In the future, the “health first” education idea will be spread more, and students will have a better educational environment.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺,内容完整。
A. Myopia (近视) is another big problem.
B. Students no longer need to arrive before 7:50 am.

D. He said we need to create PE classes that students enjoy and that make them sweat.
