Sitting all day may make you feel awful. What can you do about it? Maybe you can turn to Animal Flow.
A famous fitness coach Mike Fitch created Animal Flow, a fun way to exercise, in 2015. You move your body on the ground as different animals do when you practise Animal Flow. You don’t need any equipment (器材) for it, but it helps you become stronger.
When practising Animal Flow, you get your body to move in different ways, such as walking like a duck and jumping like a frog. The actions look easy. In fact, they help you get full-body exercise. Take Crab Reach as an example. Start from sitting on the ground. Lift your hips (臀部) up off the ground and balance on one arm. As you rise up, try to extend (伸展) the other arm backward. The action can make your tired body relaxed after you sit for long.
Here are some tips to get Animal Flow started in the right way. Find a quiet place. Don’t choose beaches because they make you feel tired quickly. Also, you’d better not wear shoes. It’s good for you to improve balance. Warm up your wrists (手腕). They hold the weight of your body in many Animal Flow actions. Remember to do some easy actions first if you’re too fat, or you’ll easily get hurt.
Take your time and move slowly to get the most from Animal Flow.
( )19. What can we learn about Animal Flow from Paragraph 2?
A. It depends on equipment.
B. A famous doctor created it.
C. People practise it with animals.
D. It needs practising on the ground.
( )20. Which picture shows Crab Reach?
( )21. What should people do to start Animal Flow?
A. Lose weight before it.
B. Find places like beaches.
C. Practise without shoes.
D. Protect the wrists with medicine.
( )22. Why does the writer write the text?
A. To tell the history of Animal Flow.
B. To show how to practise Animal Flow.
C. To share the benefits of Animal Flow.
D. To encourage people to practise Animal Flow.

It makes our hands look ugly. It’s dirty. It can hurt a lot. But many people just can’t stop doing it: biting their nails (指甲).
Up to 45 per cent of teenagers bite their nails, American Academy of Dermatology reported. Some people bite a nail not because it’s too long, but because they are driving, feeling stressed out, or just have nothing else to do.
In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association thought nail biting as a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) (强迫症症状). People with it may wash their hands too many times or have to put their shoes in a certain way.
Although nail biting has some things in common with other symptoms of OCD, it is different from other OCD behaviours (行为) in at least one way. “In OCD, the behaviour is really not wanted,” said psychiatrist Carol Mathews. People with OCD don’t want to wash their hands over and over again. There is no fun in it. They just fear that if they aren’t busy doing something, something bad might happen to them.
But nail biters enjoy this activity. “When you get the right nail, it feels good,” said Mathews. So some people argue that most nail biters do not have any kind of serious illness.
However, it’s still a bad habit. So what can we do to stop it? Since most people bite nails as a way of reducing stress, finding another way to reduce that stress could be useful, suggested Rochelle Torgerson, a doctor at Mayo Clinic in the US. For example, some people might play with a pen instead.
“Nail biters feel the urge (冲动) to bite if they find a small ugly part of the nail,” said Mathews. So always keep your nails beautiful.
( )23. Which of the following behaviours is a symptom of OCD?
A. Keeping your nails beautiful.
B. Cutting nails to make them short.
C. Putting things in a certain way.
D. Washing your hands before each meal.
( )24. What does the writer try to tell us in Paragraphs 4 — 5?
A. The common behaviours people with OCD often show.
B. Nail biters don’t have any kind of serious illness.
C. People with OCD enjoy doing things over and over again.
D. The difference between nail biting and other OCD behaviours.
( )25. Which suggestion for how to stop nail biting is mentioned in the text?
A. Keeping your nails short.
B. Giving up nail biting and working hard.
C. Finding another way to reduce your stress.
D. Biting your nails instead of playing with a pen.
( )26. What is the best title for this text?
A. How to Stop Biting Nails
B. Biting Could Be Worrying
C. The Cause for Nail Biting
D. Keep Your Nails Long

① What is the reason for pain? Pain hurts us, but could it be good for us? Is pain in fact helpful?
② Pain is the body’s way to tell us that something is wrong so that we stop what we are doing to protect the body. For example, if you break your leg, pain stops you from walking on it. If you didn’t feel any pain, you would continue walking around and you could hurt your leg more. But why does it continue to hurt even after you stop walking on your hurt leg? It is because your body needs you to rest so as to have the energy to mend (愈合) the broken leg.
③But how does pain work? We have special cells (细胞) in our eyes, and inside our bodies too. When something goes wrong, these cells send messages to the brain (脑). The brain then makes us feel pain, so we will stop doing things causing the pain. Put your hand on a hot pan, and your hand’s cells tell your brain. You are able to quickly move your hand away from the heat. At the same time, your brain gets the message that something is wrong and you need to care for your hand. It all happens in less than a second.
④But did you know that the brain itself cannot feel pain? In fact, when doctors cut into the brain, they do not let the person sleep. Because the person does not feel any pain in the brain, it is thought to be much safer if the person is awake (醒着的) while the doctor works.
( )27. Why is pain helpful sometimes according to the text?
A. It teaches us about the way our bodies move and grow.
B. It reminds us to keep awake when doctors cut into the brain.
C. It tells doctors about problems with the body so that they can fix them.
D. It makes us stop the wrong things that we’re doing to protect us.
( )28. What might happen to people who couldn’t feel pain after they fell?
A. Their lives would be easier.
B. They would stand up quickly.
C. They would get hurt more.
D. They would not be afraid of falling.
( )29. Which of the following shows the structure of the text?
( )30. What is the text mainly about?
A. How pain hurts our brains.
B. How doctors work on the brain.
C. How the brain moves our bodies.
D. How pain works to protect our bodies.
