China has a special system of 24 solar terms (节气) that help people understand the cycle of seasons and changes in weather. Chunfen, or the Spring Equinox, as the 4th solar term, usually falls around March 20 or 21. During Chunfen, the sun shines straight on the equator, so day and night are of the same length all over the world.
Chunfen holds a more important position than many other solar terms. There is a well-known saying in China, which goes, “Chunfen divides the spring and balances (平衡) the yin and yang.” In ancient times, it was highly paid attention to. It is a period when all things come back to life, a bit like a lively celebration for the arrival of spring.
In northern China, it is a common custom for people to fly kites on Chunfen. Many families go out together to fly colorful kites, sharing a comfortable and joyful feeling. Since kites fly high in the sky, flying kites is believed to help people get good luck and keep bad luck away in the new spring. In the south of China, eating spring vegetables is also the traditional food for this day, usually cooked with fish slices into a soup called “spring soup”. Eating spring vegetables symbolizes good health and a new start.
Some areas have a custom of worshipping the sun during Chunfen. People present sacrifices and pray for good luck and peace—hoping everything goes well in the coming farming season. Another activity is standing eggs, which is a popular folk game on this day. As Chunfen marks the balance of day and night, people believe it is the easiest day to stand an egg upright, expressing their hope for a happy and prosperous year.
To sum up, Chunfen is not just a solar term. It is also a necessary part of Chinese culture. It makes people feel a strong sense of connection with nature and take pride in their culture during the lively spring.
21. Which solar term is Chunfen?
A. The 3rd. B. The 4th. C. The 21st. D. The 22nd.
22. What do people in southern China traditionally eat on Chunfen?
A. Cakes. B. Tangyuan.
C. Dumplings. D. Spring vegetables and spring soup.
23. What is the right order of the following ideas from the passage?
①People pray for peace and good harvest.
②Chunfen becomes an important part of Chinese culture.
③Families fly kites together outdoors.
④Day and night are in balance on Chunfen.
A. ④→③→①→② B. ①→③→④→②
C. ④→①→③→② D. ③→④→①→②
24. Which of the following is TRUE about Chunfen?
A. It is the 5th solar term in China.

25. What is the main idea of the passage?

In China, there is an exciting race between robots and people. For the first time, robots join a half-marathon (半程马拉松)—It is 21 kilometers long. More than 20 robots run with 12,000 runners, making the marathon very special. This race is not only about running but also a big test for China’s robot technology.
Six robots finish the 21-kilometer race. Tiangong Ultra, a robot that is 1.8 meters tall and looks like a strong young man, wins the race. It takes 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds to cross the finishing line. However, the fastest human runner finishes the race much faster— in just 1 hour and 2 minutes. The robots are slower than people and need some help during the race. Because it’s hard for them to keep balance (平衡), some robots need people to walk with them. And a few even have to stop to change their batteries (电池) because they run out of power.
Although the robots don’t win, the race is an important test for robot technology. Scientists want to see if robots can finish long-distance (长距离的) running like people. This race shows that robots still need improvements to run as fast as people.
This robot half-marathon is really a big step forward for the development of China’s robots. Maybe robots will take part in more races and games in the future. Would you like to see robots race against people again?
26. Which of the following robots wins the race?
A. B. C. D.
27. What’s the main way the writer develops the second paragraph?
A. By saying why robots joined the race. B. By listing what people did to help robots.
C. By talking about the robots that won prizes. D. By showing how robots and people ran differently.
28. Why do some robots need people to walk with them during the race?
A. Because some robots run too fast. B. Because some robots get tired easily.
C. Because some robots want to talk to humans. D. Because some robots need help to keep balance.
29. What can we infer about the robots from the race?
A. They will soon replace human runners in marathons.
B. They don’t need any human assistance in future races.
C. Their battery life is long enough for all long-distance races.
D. Their long-distance running ability still needs technical support.
30. Which can be the best title for the passage?
A. How to Make Robots Run Faster. B. Tiangong Ultra, the Half-Marathon Winner.
C. A Special Half-Marathon: Robots VS People. D. The Problems of Chinese Robot Technology.

第一节 任务型阅读 (共5小题,满分10分)
阅读短文,用英语填空或回答问题 (请注意每小题的词数要求)。
Life is always full of changes. Some changes are nice and bring us joy, like joining a new club or making a close new friend. However, other changes may make us feel worried or uncertain (不确定的). They can be big events, such as moving to a new school or losing touch with an old friend. They can also be small daily things, like parents changing their work hours or having a new teacher for class. All these changes bring strong feelings, and it is completely normal to feel this way.
People often find change difficult to deal with mainly because it brings uncertainty. Emily Hanlon is a child psychologist (心理学家). She says, “Our brains prefer daily plans and fixed habits, as they make us feel safe and comfortable. When something unexpected changes, it is just like taking a surprise trip without a map. We will feel nervous or worried because we have no idea what will happen next.” Besides, change is also hard to accept if we are not ready for it or feel we cannot control the situation.
Is change always a bad thing? Of course not. Life would be really boring if nothing ever changed. Trying new things and facing changes help us know our own likes and dislikes better. For example, if you never try a new kind of snack, you will never know you actually love it. Change also helps us grow as a person and learn new useful skills. As Hanlon puts it, “Although change can feel scary at first, it often brings us new experiences, new friends and more self-confidence.”
