My Project: Learn and Protect Against Natural Disasters
My name is Li Ming. I am in Grade 8. Last month, our English teacher asked us to do a Project called "Learn and Protect Against Natural Disasters". Our goal was to find out useful safety tips for natural disasters and share them with our classmates to help everyone keep safe.
At first, I knew little about how to protect myself during floods or storms. For the Project, I joined a group of four classmates. We searched for safety information online, read disaster safety books and even asked a rescue worker for advice. We found that staying calm and preparing emergency supplies in advance are the most important things when facing natural disasters.
We also interviewed our neighbors about their experiences of dealing with small storms. Many of them told us that they used to be nervous during disasters, but now they know how to stay safe by following safety tips. We decided to make a safety video with our collected tips, like "Stay away from windows during storms" and "Prepare a first-aid kit at home".
When we showed our video to the class, our teacher and classmates praised us. She said our Project was practical and helpful. Through this Project, I learned a lot about disaster safety and realized that everyone should master basic safety skills. I hope more people can learn these tips and protect themselves and their families.
