take out of“取出”、take pride in“为……骄傲”、take care of“照顾”均不符。

Each year on Feb 21, UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) holds an International Mother Language Day (IMLD). The event is to help people to pay attention to the disappearance of the world’s languages; many of them are disappearing each year. UNESCO sees this as a terrible fact. What happens when a language dies out? Something great is lost-not just sounds and marks but the way that people understand the world and communicate with each other. We keep different cultures and traditions through languages. Kill a language and all these are killed too.
Through IMLD, more and more people come to realize the terrible situation and try to stop it. Google’s 2018 Endangered (濒临灭绝的) languages Project is a good example. Many speakers and protectors of endangered languages upload (上传) texts, audios and videos to the project website. They want to introduce the way that people communicate and express themselves around the world.
The Myaamia Project is the same kind of effort to revive the language spoken by the Miami tribes (部落) of the United States. Project members work to encourage people to study and communicate with this language, which died out in the 1960s.
These activities give life to those endangered languages. People who work to keep Languages alive are not limited to the past. Many young people design apps and use social media to support their activities. They “spread the word” to save the world. So, while the problem of disappearing languages remains a very serious one, there is hope. We all have a special feeling of our mother language. This is why we should remember the wise words of late President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his own language, that goes to his heart.”
11.UNESCO holds IMLD every year in order to help people to ________.
A.learn and use endangered languages
B.show their talents in learning languages
C.practice reading skills of mother languages
D.realize the situation of endangered languages
12.What did people do in Google’s 2018 Endangered Languages Project?
A.Discuss how to make good use of Google.
B.Offer online courses on endangered languages.
C.Share materials about endangered languages online.
D.Translate endangered languages into mother languages.
13.What does the underlined word “revive” mean in Paragraph 4?
A.create B.study C.recover D.clear
14.What can we infer from Paragraph 5?
A.It is more difficult to protect endangered languages.
B.The disappearance of languages has already stopped.
C.Young people don’t care about endangered languages.
D.Young people have creative ways to protect languages.
15.The writer mentions Nelson Mandela’s words in order to ________.
A.tell the importance of one’s mother language
B.show his contributions to language protection
C.tell the trouble in learning endangered languages
D.show the possibility of protecting mother languages

You may have already forgotten the days when you had to learn how to use chopsticks. Every Chinese kid manages to use them for some time. But chopsticks are not just simple tools to pick up food. They come with their own special rules and traditions. Generally, people should not make noise with chopsticks. Playing with chopsticks is seen as bad manners, just as playing with forks and knives in a Western country would be rude.
There are also some superstitions (迷信) related to chopsticks. For example, some people believe that chopsticks should not be left standing upright in a bowl. It looks like the incense (香) that Chinese use to honor the dead. Doing it at the dinner table is believed to bring bad luck.
You should not tap (敲) chopsticks on the edge of the bowl either, as beggars (乞丐) do this to ask for food. Parents might get angry if children do this as they don’t want their children to be as poor as beggars in the future.
Besides, chopsticks can also be a great gift. In Chinese, “chopsticks” are known as “kuaizi”, so newlyweds (新婚夫妇) feel happy to receive chopsticks as a wedding gift. Skilled craftsmen (手艺人) paint beautiful pictures on chopsticks to make them look like fine artwork. Today, even people from Western countries are learning to use chopsticks and like to collect them as souvenirs (纪念品).

Fashion isn’t very environmentally friendly because it makes people buy things they don’t need, just because they’re new. We want to take care of the environment. We don’t want to pollute the air and we don’t want to waste energy and resources. But we also want to be fashionable. How can we buy fashionable clothes and protect the environment?
Old styles are fashionable again, so one way is to buy second-hand clothes—recycled clothes. Another way is to buy fair trade clothes. (A) These clothes are either recycled or made in a way that protects the environment. They also protect the people who make the clothes.
Surprisingly, white cotton is one of the least environmentally friendly crops of all. To protect the cotton, the growers use chemicals that pollute water, make farm workers ill and kill wildlife. New materials, such as bamboo, grow quickly and are more environmentally friendly. These materials are very soft, and look fantastic. The best materials are coloured using natural dyes made from plants.
Environmentally friendly clothes are practical but until now they are often dull. Now fashion designers are working with these materials and the clothes are beautiful as well. So now we can buy fashionable clothes that are also environmentally friendly.
40.回答问题Why do people often buy things they don’t need?

42.选出正确答案Material is bad for environment? 只填写序号。

42.根据文章第3段“Surprisingly, white cotton is one of the least environmentally friendly crops of all.”可知,白棉花是所有作物中对环境最不友好的作物之一。故填 (4)。
