In my free time, I’m a volunteer firefighter. The volunteers here 51 professional firefighters, so I have to get to the fire scene pretty early to get in on any action. I remember my first fire. It was a real 52 against the other volunteers to get to the captain in charge to find out what our assignments would be. When I found the captain, he was having an engaging conversation with the barefoot home owner. The other volunteer who had arrived just five seconds earlier than me was asked to save the home owner’s dog. The dog! I was 53 . For the rest of his life, he’d forever be proud of 54 a burning building to save a living creature. Well, I was next. The captain waved me over. He said, “I need you to get the home owner a pair of shoes.” It was not exactly what I was hoping for, but off I went — up the stairs, down the hall, past the “real” firefighters, who were pretty much done 55 the fire at this point, into the bedroom to get a pair of shoes. Yes, I’m no 56 . When I went back with the shoes, I met my rival and the precious dog by-the door where, 57 , his “treasure” received much more attention than mine. Weeks later, though, the home owner sent a thank-you letter. The act of kindness she noted 58 all others: someone had even gotten her a pair of shoes. In both my job at the Anti-Poverty Fund and volunteer firefighting, I am witness to acts of generosity and kindness on a monumental scale, but I’m also witness to acts of grace and courage on an individual basis. Here’s what I’ve learned: they all 59 . Not every day is going to offer us a chance to save somebody’s life, but every day offers us an opportunity to 60 one. So get in the game. They need to maintain tight contact between the solid electrolyte (电解质) and the lithium metal electrode (锂金属电极). Now, Chinese scientists have made a breakthrough. They developed a self-adaptive layer, called an interface. This layer can actively attract lithium ions (锂离子), which then automatically fill all tiny gaps and holes, much like self-healing. This maintains tight contact between the electrode and electrolyte without needing external pressure. It decisively overcome a major bottleneck toward commercialization. Traditional methods required heavy equipment to press the parts together constantly, making batteries too big and heavy for practical use. The researchers from the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the CAS and Huazhong University of Science and Technology found that the contact between the lithium electrode and the solid electrolyte in all-solid-state lithium batteries is not ideal. There are numerous tiny holes and gaps present. These issues not only shorten battery lifespan but may also pose safety risks. To address this challenge, the team of researchers introduced iodide ions (碘离子) into the solid electrolyte. During battery operation, these ions move to the electrode interface under the electric field. They form an iodine-rich interface. The interface can actively attract lithium ions to fill all gaps automatically, ensuring tight contact like a self-repairing process. Test batteries made with this technology showed stable, high performance even after hundreds of charge-discharge cycles — far better than similar batteries today. This advance could lead to batteries with energy density (密度) over 500 Wh/kg and could double the battery life of devices. The breakthrough will speed up the development of high-energy all-solid-state batteries for use in human-like robots, electric planes, electric vehicles and other fields, providing safer and more efficient energy solutions. “This study fundamentally solves the key bottleneck problem that was holding back the commercialization of all-solid-state batteries, marking a decisive step toward their practical application”, said Wang Chunsheng, a battery expert at the University of Maryland. 66.What has been the main difficulty in developing all-solid-state lithium batteries? A.Their very high production cost. B.Making them work without any electricity. C.Finding enough lithium metal sources. D.Keeping their internal parts tightly together. 67.What is special about the new self-adaptive layer? A.It is made from extremely rare minerals. B.It can repair gaps by itself during use. C.It works only under very high pressure. D.It replaces the need for lithium ions. 68.What is a key advantage of the new battery design in testing? A.It can be fully charged in just seconds. B.It stays stable over hundreds of cycles. C.It can work without any electrolyte material. D.It is made from much cheaper raw materials. 69.Which statement best reflects expert Wang Chunsheng’s view of the breakthrough? A.It is only a small step in battery research. B.It is too expensive for real-world application. C.It solves the main barrier to commercial use. D.It is the final step before mass production. 70.What is the main purpose of the passage? A.To introduce a breakthrough in battery technology. B.To explain how lithium batteries are produced. C.To compare different kinds of energy storage. D.To warn about safety risks in old batteries. C The Tradition of Zongzi Zongzi is a traditional Chinese food that is especially popular during the Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place near the summer solstice. It is made of glutinous rice(糯米)and various fillings, which are wrapped in bamboo leaves. The rice is often mixed with ingredients such as meat, beans, or nuts, and then it is secured with a string before being cooked. The history of zongzi is rich and dates back to the Warring States period of ancient China. It is said to have originated as a way to commemorate the famous poet Qu Yuan. When Qu Yuan died, the local people wrapped rice in leaves and threw them into the river as an offering to his spirit and to feed the fish so they would not eat his body. Making zongzi is an art that has been passed down through years. Each family may have its own way of preparation. The process involves carefully selecting the bamboo leaves, washing them, and then filling them with the sticky rice and fillings. The art lies in folding the leaves to encase the rice and securing the zongzi so that it holds its shape during cooking. Zongzi comes in different shapes and sizes. Some are triangular, while others may be rectangular or cylindrical. The shape often depends on the region and the family's tradition. After they are wrapped, zongzi are boiled or steamed for several hours until the rice is soft and the flavors are well combined. Today, zongzi is enjoyed not only in China but also in many other parts of the world where Chinese communities celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. It symbolizes unity and remembrance and has become a part of the festival's celebration. 71.What can we learn from Paragraph 1? A.Zongzi is only eaten during the winter. B.Zongzi is a traditional food for the Dragon Boat Festival. C.Zongzi is made with non-glutinous rice. D.Zongzi does not require any fillings. 72.What does the underlined word "commemorate" in Paragraph 2 mean? A.To forget. B.To celebrate. C.To criticize. D.To remember and honor. 73.What is special about making zongzi? A.It is very easy and requires no skill. B.It is a lost art that few people know. C.It is a traditional art that has been passed down through years. D.It involves using machinery to wrap the zongzi. 74.Zongzi comes in different shapes and sizes, __________. A.but they all have the same filling. B.and they are only cooked by machine. C.which often depends on the region and family tradition. D.but they are always wrapped in the same way. 75.Why is zongzi important during the Dragon Boat Festival? A.It is a traditional Chinese dessert. B.It symbolizes unity and remembrance. C.It is the favorite food of Qu Yuan. D.It is used to predict the weather. Scientists from China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University are developing a robot “guide dog” to help blind people. The robot dog is about the size of an English bulldog but a little wider. It has six legs instead of four. The extra legs make it more stable and help it move faster. The robot is being tested in Shanghai. With the help of cameras and AI, the robot dog can see, listen and speak with blind people. It can help them during daily trips outside and be their “friend” at home. Blind people can also use a cane (手杖) to control the robot’s walking and running speed. The robot can even recognize the traffic lights — real guide dogs are unable to do that. Li Fei and Zhu Sibin are helping test the robot. Li is totally blind and Zhu can only see a little. Zhu often uses a cane to move around. “The robot dog will make it easier to get into public places than with real guide dogs. I am happy to join in the test. It could change our lives in the near future,” Li said. In China, there are about 17.31 million blind people, but there are only about 400 guide dogs. The new robot is trying to solve this problem. “We believe our robot will act as ‘a pair of eyes’ for blind people,” said Professor Gao Peng, one of the scientists. He thinks there could be a large market for these robot dogs. 76.Scientists develop the robot dog to improve AI technology. 77.Paragraph 2 mainly tells about what the robot dog can do. 78.Li Fei helps to test the robot dog. 79.Professor Gao Peng’s opinion about the robot dog is that it has taken the place of real guide dogs. 80.Shanghai Jiao Tong University spent a lot of money to develop the robot “guide dog”. There’s something magical about the way imagination works. Around the world, kids are using imagination in ways that were once only found in science fiction. Take the story of Mark Lee. He loved biking around his neighbourhood but grew upset seeing that many plastic bottles littered the parks and sidewalks. Instead of simply complaining, he decided to do something about it. Using an old 3D printer, Mark started experimenting. He melted (熔化) plastic bottles down and tried shaping them into small bricks. At first, everything went wrong — the plastic broke, the printer jammed, and the pieces didn’t fit together. Friends laughed a little, and even Mark’s parents thought he should just forsake. But Mark had a different idea. He redesigned the bricks to lock together like puzzle (拼图) pieces and adjusted the heating temperature carefully. After months of trial and error, he succeeded. With a little help from his school and the local community centre, Mark used his bricks to build a small bike shelter for his neighbourhood. And he’s not alone. Thirteen-year-old Sally Carter loved reading fantasy books. Inspired by magical maps in her stories, she wondered: what if we could build a real-world app that helps people explore hidden places in their own cities? She gathered friends, learned some basic programming, and together they created an app that maps small local parks and gardens few people knew about. Their app quickly grew popular in town and even won a local youth innovation award. Next time you see a young person lost in thought, don’t rush to pull them back. They might just be imagining the next great idea. 81.What problem did Mark decide to solve? (no more than 8 words) 82.What does the underlined word in Paragraph 3 probably mean? (1 word) 83.How does the app created by Sally and her friends help? (no more than 20 words) 84.What quality helped Mark succeed finally? However, they have long faced a challenging problem. 根据第一段“However, they have long faced a challenging problem. (no more than 10 words) 85.What is the text mainly trying to tell us? (no more than 20 words) 【答案】81.Plastic bottles littered the parks and sidewalks. 82.Quit/Give up/ Abandon. 83.It helps people explore hidden places in their own cities by mapping small local parks and gardens. 84.Persistence/Not giving up easily. 85.Young people can create great ideas with their imagination. 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了Mark和Sally等年轻人通过发挥想象力,用创意和行动解决身边问题的故事。 81.考查细节理解。根据第二段“He loved biking around his neighbourhood but grew upset seeing that many plastic bottles littered the parks and sidewalks. Instead of simply complaining, he decided to do something about it.(他喜欢在附近骑自行车,但看到公园和人行道上散落着许多塑料瓶,他感到很沮丧。他没有只是抱怨,而是决定做点什么)”可知,Mark决定解决的问题是公园和人行道上散落着许多塑料瓶。故答案为Plastic bottles littered the parks and sidewalks。 82.考查词义猜测。根据第三段“Friends laughed a little, and even Mark’s parents thought he should just forsake.(朋友们笑了笑,甚至Mark的父母也认为他应该forsake)”和第四段“But Mark had a different idea. He redesigned the bricks to lock together like puzzle (拼图) pieces and adjusted the heating temperature carefully. After months of trial and error, he succeeded.(但Mark有不同的想法。他重新设计了砖块,使它们像拼图一样拼合在一起,并仔细调整了加热温度。经过几个月的反复试验,他成功了)”可知,Mark没有放弃,而是重新设计了砖块,经过几个月的反复试验,他成功了,所以forsake意思是“放弃”。故答案为Quit/Give up/ Abandon。 83.考查细节理解。根据第五段“She gathered friends, learned some basic programming, and together they created an app that maps small local parks and gardens few people knew about.(她召集了朋友,学习了一些基本的编程知识,然后他们一起创建了一个应用程序,可以绘制出鲜为人知的小型本地公园和花园的地图)”可知,Sally和她的朋友们创建的应用程序可以绘制出鲜为人知的小型本地公园和花园的地图,帮助人们探索城市中隐藏的地方。故答案为It helps people explore hidden places in their own cities by mapping small local parks and gardens. 84.考查细节理解。根据第四段“But Mark had a different idea. He redesigned the bricks to lock together like puzzle (拼图) pieces and adjusted the heating temperature carefully. After months of trial and error, he succeeded.(但Mark有不同的想法。他重新设计了砖块,使它们像拼图一样拼合在一起,并仔细调整了加热温度。经过几个月的反复试验,他成功了)”可知,Mark重新设计了砖块,仔细调整了加热温度,经过几个月的反复试验,他成功了,所以是坚持不懈帮助Mark最终取得了成功。故答案为Persistence/Not giving up easily。 85.考查主旨大意。根据最后一段“Next time you see a young person lost in thought, don’t rush to pull them back. They might just be imagining the next great idea.(下次当你看到一个年轻人陷入沉思时,不要急于把他们拉回来。他们可能只是在想象下一个伟大的想法)”以及文章内容可知,文章主要讲述了Mark和Sally等年轻人通过发挥想象力,用创意和行动解决身边问题的故事,所以文章主要告诉我们年轻人可以用他们的想象力创造伟大的想法。故答案为Young people can create great ideas with their imagination. 第四部分 书面表达(共两节,满分 20 分) 第一节:英汉互译 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 86.We don’t have good solid information on where the people are.(英译汉) _______________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】我们并不掌握有关这些人在哪儿的确切消息。 【详解】考查固定短语和宾语从句。solid翻译为“可靠的”。have good solid informaiton翻译为“有可靠的信息”。on翻译为“有关……的”。where the people are是宾语从句,翻译为“这些人在哪儿”。故翻译为:我们并不掌握有关这些人在哪儿的确切消息。 87.The city was spread out beneath us in all its glory.
