注意:both… and…连接主语时,谓语动词用复数形式;either… or…与neither… nor…连接主语时,谓语动词常与离它最近的主语在人称和数上保持一致。

wealth的形容词形式为wealthy(比较级为wealthier,最高级为wealthiest)。常用短语: the wealthy 有钱人;富人。
5.(as) pale as chalk 惨白;苍白。这是一种明喻的修辞结构,虽然英语中把苍白比作chalk(粉笔),但汉语不可直译。
【拓展】汉语中描述不健康的人的面部颜色时常用 “白” 字,如 “煞白;苍白;灰白” 等,英语中则常用pale来表达。

【拓展】call的相关短语
(1)call back 唤回;叫回;回电话;再打电话。
(2)call up 打电话(给某人);征召;使回忆起。
