Have you ever wondered what else you can do on the train besides sleeping or scrolling through your phone? Actually, in China, trains have turned into centers which bring together the public and the nation’s intangible cultural heritage. (ICH,非物质文化遗产)
Trains go across China and they are becoming ideal places for introducing local traditional culture. A good example is the K7041 train from Harbin to Mohe in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. On the ICH train, Gulayier, dressed in traditional clothes, sang Oroqen folk songs and his partner played the Oroqen jaw harp, a musical instrument. Tourists on the train, especially those from Southern China, sang and danced excitedly with the two performers together. He thought the train was a good platform for promoting (促进) ICH.
Professor Xiao Fang from Beijing Normal University shares Gulayier’s opinion on the new use of ICH trains. He has pointed out another advantage of this. Beyond cultural promotion, it offers help for tourism. When passengers enjoy local traditions on board, they often develop a deeper interest in exploring the places they pass through.
However, the ICH train journeys still have challenges, including the narrow space on trains and passengers getting on and off at each station. Therefore, some solutions have been introduced: Cultural corners show traditional arts, and QR codes provide digital information. These help passengers to explore ICH at their own pace and continue learning after their journey ends.
The success of ICH trains offers valuable lessons for cultural protection worldwide, proving that innovation (革新) and tradition can work together to keep cultural heritage alive for future generations.

A.Traveling farther north. B.Joining in live shows.

Lin Zhaozhen, a young woman from Guangdong, grew up speaking both Cantonese and Mandarin. After university, she worked as a translator. However, she noticed that her deaf cousin often felt left out during family gatherings because few people knew sign language. This inspired (激发) Lin to learn it, practicing in front of a mirror and attending local deaf community workshops.
She discovered an interest in it. She realized that many deaf people faced communication problems in hospitals, government offices, and even when ordering food. They could hardly get basic services. Lin decided to do something about it. In 2018, she started a volunteer group called Silent Voices. The group’s task was to provide free sign language translation services for the deaf.
At first, it was just Lin and a few friends. They would go with the deaf people to doctors’ visits, help them communicate and often stay late to avoid missing any information. The work was tiring and unpaid, but the gratitude (感激之情) they saw kept them going. Slowly, more and more people joined them. Today, Silent Voices has over 200 volunteers. They also offer free sign language classes to the public, hoping to build a better society.
Lin Zhaozhen believes that communication is a basic human right. “Everyone deserves (值得) to be understood,” she says. Her work has helped the deaf community and built a bridge of understanding between the silent world and the hearing world, making her city a warmer and more friendly place for all.

Chinese researchers have found a new microbial weed (杂草) killer. It can control weeds without polluting the environment and also helps crops (农作物) grow. It may take the place of traditional chemical weed killers in the future.
The discovery was made by a research team led by Sun Juan from Qingdao Agricultural University after years of hard work. The team spent a long time doing research and testing to make sure the new weed killer is safe and useful. Their findings were recently published online in an international magazine called Crop Protection and got worldwide attention.
Alfalfa (苜蓿草) is one of the world’s most important crops to feed animals. However, it has long been a big problem in growing alfalfa. Farmers usually use lots of chemical weed killers to get rid of the weeds. These chemicals not only pollute the land and water but also bring serious risks to food safety and human health.
To solve the problems, the research team found a new kind of fungus (真菌) in the soil (土壤) around alfalfa roots. They named it MXBP304. It can help kill weed seeds but do little harm to alfalfa’s seeds to sprout or the growth of young alfalfa plants. It also keeps the natural balance of the soil, so it can control weeds in a “zero pollution” way.
Now the team is still working hard to improve MXBP304 and related technologies. They want to put the eco-friendly weed killer into practical use soon. If it is successfully used, farmers will have a greener and safer way to control weeds.
66.Who found the new kind of weed killer?
A.A farmer from Qingdao. B.A team from a university.
C.A researcher from Crop Protection. D.A group from a farming company.
67.What problem have farmers had in growing alfalfa for a long time?

A.To introduce an eco-friendly discovery.
B.To warn people about the dangers of weeds.
C.To teach readers the way of growing alfalfa.
D.To advertise some famous Chinese inventions.

My mother’s favorite bowl was not expensive, but it meant a lot to her. It was a simple Chinese bowl that she had used for thirty years. Last month, I dropped it while washing it, and it broke into pieces. I stood there, unable to move. I was worried that she would be angry.
When my mother walked in, she didn’t get angry. Instead, she picked up the broken pieces carefully. “Don’t worry, Alice,” she said. She told me about an ancient Chinese art called ceramic (陶瓷) mending. It is a special way of fixing broken things with small pieces of metal. Instead of hiding the broken lines, this art shows them clearly. It makes the repaired object even stronger. It treats the breakage as a part of history, not something to hide.
A few days later, we watched a worker repair the bowl. He carefully made small holes and put silver pieces of metal across the broken lines. They looked like stars in the sky. “You see,” my mother said in a low voice, “We don’t need to be shy about the broken parts. They show that the bowl has lived through hard times. A bowl that has never been broken is just a bowl, but this one is special because its scars (疤痕) have become art.”
This experience made me think about my own life. Like many teenagers, I used to try to be “perfect”. I felt bad when I failed a test or had an argument with a friend. I thought any mistake made me less worthy. But looking at the bowl, I realized that my experiences—even the painful ones—were my “start”. They hold me together and make me who I am.
70.Why did the writer feel worried after breaking the bowl?
A.Because the bowl cost a lot. B.Because she kept on making mistakes.
C.Because she would pay for her carelessness. D.Because she feared making her mother angry.
71.How did the writer’s mother deal with the broken bowl?
A.By throwing it away. B.By deciding to repair it.
C.By putting it away in a box. D.By replacing it with a new one.
72.What do painful experiences mean to the writer?
A.Correct paths to perfection. B.Key chances to build a strong will.
C.Necessary parts of personal growth. D.Valuable memories of being honest.

I’m a student of Grade 9. During the past holiday, I cycled nearly 400 km with my schoolmates and the headmaster, across half of an island in four days.
In the beginning, I thought it would be impossible to finish the trip, though I always enjoyed cycling. However, I decided to take on the challenge after being encouraged by my family.
Our goal was to traverse (穿过) the coastline of the island. When arriving at the starting point, we were so excited that we couldn’t wait to start the trip. On the first day, we cycled excitedly and stopped to rest in a local hotel. On the second day, every part of my body hurt. Many of us thought about giving up. However, our youngest teammate, an 11-year-old boy, showed his strong will to finish the journey. We all felt ashamed and found new courage for the trip.
In the following days, our headmaster was always the first to take on challenges. The most difficult part of our journey was a very steep incline (陡坡). He led us to go through difficulties and reach the top. There, we were amazed at the breathtaking beauty of nature.
This trip not only gave me a sense of achievement but also helped me realize the importance of perseverance (毅力). For those who want to give up halfway, I would say:

59.What is the fresh experience for passengers on the K7041 train?
A.Traveling farther north. B.Joining in live shows.
C.Wearing traditional clothes. D.Having fun on the phone.
60.What do Gulayier and Professor Xiao both agree on?
A.ICH encourages more local visits.
B.Trains help make ICH more popular.
C.ICH improves the Chinese train journeys.
D.Passengers welcome performers on ICH trains.
61.What is the challenge for ICH activities on trains?
A.Passengers don’t want to join. B.Fixed timetable of trains.
C.Narrow space and passengers’ movement. D.Poor digital information for the tourists.
62.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Trains push China’s cultural heritage further
B.China puts arms around local artists on ICH trains
C.More ICH trains begin running on railways in China
D.Train passengers share different local cultures of China
【答案】59.B 60.B 61.C 62.A
【导语】本文介绍了中国的火车已成为传播非物质文化遗产的中心,在推动文化传承、带动旅游的同时也面临挑战,证明了革新与传统结合能让文化遗产永续传承。
59.根据第二段“On the ICH train, Gulayier, dressed in traditional clothes, sang Oroqen folk songs and his partner played the Oroqen jaw harp, a musical instrument…Tourists on the train, especially those from Southern China, sang and danced excitedly with the two performers together.”,可知乘客的新鲜体验是参与现场表演。
60.根据第二段“He thought the train was a good platform promoting (促进) ICH.”和第三段“Beyond cultural promotion, it offers help for tourism.”,可知两人都认同火车能让非物质文化遗产更受欢迎。
61.根据第四段“However, the ICH train journeys still have challenges, including the narrow space on trains and passengers getting on and off at each station.”,可知挑战是狭窄的空间和乘客的上下车流动。
62.文章核心是中国的火车成为了传播非物质文化遗产的中心,让文化遗产被更多人了解、传承,所以最贴合的标题是Trains push China’s cultural heritage further(火车推动中国文化遗产进一步传播)。

63.第二段提到成立组织目的:“The group’s task was to provide free sign language translation services for the deaf”,这说明林昭珍成立“无声之声”组织是为了帮助听障人士轻松与他人交流。
64.第一段提到“After university, she worked as a translator. However, she noticed that her deaf cousin often felt left out during family gatherings because few people knew sign language. This inspired (激发) Lin to learn it”,第二段提到成立组织“In 2018, she started a volunteer group called Silent Voices”,第三段提到组织发展“Today, Silent Voices has over 200 volunteers”,所以正确顺序是林昭珍毕业后做翻译,然后受听障表亲启发,成立志愿者组织,组织发展到有200多名志愿者,即a-d-c-b。
65.文章整体围绕林昭珍帮助听障人士交流展开,讲述了她受启发学习手语,成立组织提供翻译服务,还开设免费手语课程等,所以文章主要是关于一位帮助听障人士交流的女性。

A.Costing too much. B.Not enough land.
C.Controlling weeds safely. D.Not enough water.
68.What does the underlined word “sprout” probably mean?
A.Die in the soil. B.Be eaten by insects.
C.Turn into weeds. D.Produce new leaves.
69.Why does the writer write the passage?
A.To introduce an eco-friendly discovery.
B.To warn people about the dangers of weeds.
C.To teach readers the way of growing alfalfa.
D.To advertise some famous Chinese inventions.
【答案】66.B 67.C 68.D 69.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了中国研究人员发现的一种新型微生物除草剂,这种除草剂能控制杂草且不污染环境,还能帮助农作物生长,未来或许会取代传统化学除草剂。
66.文章第二段指出“The discovery was made by a research team led by Sun Juan from Qingdao Agricultural University...”,说明是青岛农业大学的一个研究团队发现了这种新型除草剂。
67.
文章第三段提到“However, it has long been a big problem in growing alfalfa. Farmers usually use lots of chemical weed killers to get rid of the weeds. These chemicals not only pollute the land and water but also bring serious risks to food safety and human health.”,表明长期以来农民种植苜蓿草面临的问题是安全地控制杂草。
68.文章第四段提及“It can help kill weed seeds but do little harm to alfalfa’s seeds to sprout or the growth of young alfalfa plants.”,结合语境可知,这种真菌能帮助杀死杂草种子,但对苜蓿种子发芽或幼苗生长危害很小,所以“sprout”意思是“发芽,长出新叶”,与“Produce new leaves”意思相近。
69.文章第一段“Chinese researchers have found a new microbial weed (杂草) killer. It can control weeds without polluting the environment and also helps crops (农作物) grow. It may take the place of traditional chemical weed killers in the future.”点明主旨,介绍了中国研究人员发现的一种环保的新型除草剂,所以作者写这篇文章是为了介绍这一环保发现。

【答案】70.D 71.B 72.C

71.第二段提到处理方式:“She told me about an ancient Chinese art called ceramic (陶瓷) mending. It is a special way of fixing broken things with small pieces of metal.”,说明作者母亲决定修复这个破碎的碗。
72.最后一段提到感悟:“But looking at the bowl, I realized that my experiences—even the painful ones—were my “start”. They hold me together and make me who I am.”,作者意识到她的经历——即使是痛苦的经历——都是她的“开始”,它们将她凝聚在一起,使她成为她自己,说明痛苦的经历是个人成长的必要部分。
