Holidays are very popular among young students. They expect to relax and do something they like. However, what do holidays really mean to them? Many students face assignments from teachers and pressure from parents to read books, complete extra exercises, or attend extra lessons.
A survey done by a junior high school shows that holidays often become busier for students rather than a time for relaxation. This problem comes from both the large number of tasks and poor time management. Instead of enjoying their break, many students find themselves staying up late to complete homework. They describe it as a painful experience.
The survey findings explain this situation. Chart I reveals that many junior high students have late bedtimes during the holidays. They don’t realize that enough sleep matters for their health and grades. Chart II shows that over 80% of students get involved in reading during their breaks, and 60% participate in extra lessons. These all point out that learning activities occupy their holiday time. In contrast, activities like housework and sports receive less attention.
To make things better, teachers should give homework which students need to do and are interested in. On one hand, teachers need to make sure students practise the key skills and knowledge when they are out of school. While on the other hand, it’s important to make sure that students have enough time for something they like or want to explore.
Parents also play an important role in helping their children plan their holidays well. By giving good advice and encouraging them to join different activities, parents can help students find a balance between having fun and growing personally. Finding this balance is necessary for a happy and satisfying holiday experience.
28.What does the underlined word “occupy” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.start B.are in control of C.are in need of D.check
29.What can we learn from Chart I and Chart II?
A.Half of the students go to bed before 9:30 pm during holidays.
B.Most students stay up late after 12 pm during holidays.
C.Less than 50% of the students play sports regularly on holidays.
D.Less than 50% of the students choose to read and have lessons on holidays.
30.What is the writing purpose of this passage?
A.To call on parents and teachers to help students with a better holiday.
B.To plan activities that students prefer to do during their holidays.
C.To explain the reasons why students have trouble finishing their homework.
D.To encourage students to keep a better sleeping habit during their holidays.

A recent study suggests that 65% of our daily behaviors are automatic These habitual behaviors can be helpful (e. g., handwashing) or unhelpful (e. g., nail-biting) . Understanding how habits form and how to change them is important for improving health and productivity.
However, studying habits isn’t easy, as habitual behaviors happen automatically, and we can’t always see or measure (衡量) them directly. In the past, scientists studied habits in animals, but humans are more complex (复杂的), as we can control habits if we are determined. For example, we can avoid eating chocolate after dinner every day if we are truly willing to, but if we aren’t thinking about it, we might eat a lot without noticing.
Researchers have used methods like computer games or quick-response tasks to measure habits, but these often fail to reflect real life and all its complexities. Real-world studies study habits by asking people how often they do something or how automatic it feels. Although these questions can measure habits over time, they don’t tell us much about what’s happening in the brain. So, there’s a trade-off. Lab studies are controlled but not realistic. Real-world studies are realistic but hard to control.
That’s where virtual reality (VR) comes in. It can allow for interaction with a realistic 3Denvironment.
Researchers at the University of Surrey aim to develop a method in the VR lab in which they can create habits similar to real-world actions. In their VR environment, participants will wear VR headsets and act as hospital workers preparing rooms for patients. They must follow a specific order of tasks— for example, making the bed, then emptying the bin. By repeating this order many times, they start to form habits.
The researchers can test the strength of these habits by changing the instructions in the VR environment. For example, participants are asked to do the tasks again while having to finish another task, or to complete them in a new order. If they accidentally return to the old routine or take longer to adjust, it can show how strong the habit is.
The promise of VR is great. Nearly any environment can be recreated, allowing for more research opportunities. Using VR to measure habits could help answer many important questions: What’s the best way to add a new habit to a routine? And how can we replace bad habits with better ones? By using VR, we may gain new insights into how to build and break habits—a key to promoting positive behaviour change.
31.What does the example of eating chocolate show in Paragraph 2?
A.The importance of a strong will. B.The difficulty in studying human habits.
C.The negative effect of bad habits on health. D.The advantage of humans as study subjects.
32.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Studying unhelpful habits is of little importance.
B.Lab studies can better measure habits than real-world studies.
C.Studies using VR can help us understand how to improve habits.
D.Human habits are too complex to measure in any research setting.
33.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Virtual Reality: A Novel Method to Study Habits
B.Virtual Reality: A Creative Way to Measure Human Brain
C.Habit Research: A Bridge to Leading a Healthy Lifestyle
D.Habit Research: A Key to Promoting Positive Behaviour Change
D
The question of whether it is possible to separate the artist from their work has been debated for a long time. Even though positive critical reviews about an artist’s behavior can improve their artistic achievements, people should treat artists as people who live apart from their work.
One of the reasons is that even artists have shortcomings. Like any other human being, an artist can make mistakes, and we cannot be judgmental of every person that makes mistakes. Cancel culture with endless criticism is related more to how we should disregard the artists when they make mistakes than with how their weaknesses can be used by the artists to create art that is unique.
Perhaps Kevin Hart’s words support this thought. He asks, “When did we get to a point where life was supposed to be perfect? Where were people supposed to operate perfectly all the time?” When people start seeing artists as human beings, they’ll see them for who they are and review their behavior not on the basis of their art but on the basis of their humanity.
It should also be noted that there are works of art that are inspired by the artist’s experience. For example, the themes in the Harry Potter books are so connected with J. K. Rowling’s wicked worldview that it is virtually impossible to tell the two from each other. Since canceling artists based on their worldview would mean the reception to their art will suffer, artists become nervous and unwilling to express themselves, which will kill creativity, eventually leading to the death of art. Comedians, singers or painters who should be integrating contemporary issues with their works become bored, and art stops functioning as the social mirror it ought to be.
An artist who makes mistakes still has art with intrinsic (内在的) value, benefiting entire communities or cultures. For example, when Kendrick Lamar launched his album and frequently used the F-slur in one of his songs, there was much-heated discussion. He was entirely mistaken in using the F-slur, but as an artist, he still had a wide-reaching impact on society. Similarly, one can respect the late Michael Jackson because of how he impacted pop music and the presence of black musicians in mainstream media despite his personal weaknesses, opinions, worldviews and associations.
While these artists may engage in their terrible behavior, the art they produce today may serve as an example for others to produce outstanding work in the future. Some would refer to this process as a cycle. Good art should, therefore, be judged due to its value and not the value of the artist.
34.Which would Kevin Hart probably agree with?
A.People should perform perfectly all the time.
B.Artists’ shortcomings might be their inspiration.
C.If artists have weaknesses, we’d better cancel them.
D.Artists should be evaluated based on their humanity.
35.Why will “cancel culture” lead to the death of art?
A.Artists will be unwilling to create any artwork.
B.Artists will stop concerning themselves with contemporary issues.
C.Artists will lose their desire for expression and creativity.
D.Artworks are unavoidably inspired by artists’ experiences.
36.How can an artist with mistakes benefit others?
A.The artist may make some new words popular.
B.The artist’s opinions may spark heated discussion.
C.The artist will benefit entire communities or cultures.
D.The artist’s work may give others ideas for artistic creation.
37.Which would be the best title of the passage?
A.Judge Art Due to Its Value B.Separate the Art From the Artist
C.Regard Artists as Human Beings D.Stop Criticizing Artists’ Behavior

Ever felt like your walk to school or the park is a bit… boring? What if you could turn it into a treasure hunt (寻宝)? That’s what many people are doing with the latest trend (潮流): the color walk!
The idea is simple: You pick one color, go for a walk and find as many things in that color as you can.
I first started this last year. Some colors, like green, are easy. You can find it in traffic lights, grass and other things. Other colors, like gold, are hard to find. But I have enjoyed every color walk I’ve tried. When you look for a color, you start to notice things you wouldn’t normally have paid attention to.
Recently, I looked for the color blue while on a walk in the Beijing Olympic Forest Park. I found myself really taking the time to look at things, like the decorations on trees, the details on signs and even the color of people’s clothes as they walked by. In the end, I was amazed by how many blue things I could find, and I felt a real sense of satisfaction.
Xu Gaoyang, a therapist (治疗师) from Beijing, said that color walk fixes your attention on something outside and sets up a small, manageable (易办到的) goal. This keeps you present in the moment (专注当下), making you feel calm and relaxed.
Next time you go for a walk, give the color walk a try. You’ll realize how colorful our world truly is.

15.A 16.C 17.B 18.C 19.D 20.B 21.B 22.A 23.D 24.A
后文“Even their husbands had no idea”直接印证这是“秘密”;report“报告”、question“问题”、mistake“错误”均与“丈夫不知情”的语境无关。
consider sb. sth.
pay for sth.

28.第三段指出“learning activities occupy their holiday time”,从表格可以清晰地看到学习相关的活动占比非常大,可以理解“occupy”的意思为“占据、占用”,与“are in control of”(控制,支配)意思相符。
C“Less than 50% of the students play sports regularly on holidays.”相符。
C
【答案】31.B 32.C 33.A

32.最后一段提到:“By using VR, we may gain new insights into how to build and break habits—a key to promoting positive behaviour change.”。
33.文章前三段分析了传统习惯研究方法(实验室研究与现实世界研究)的局限性,第四段通过“That’s where virtual reality (VR) comes in.”

35.原文第4段提到“Since canceling artists based on their worldview would mean the reception to their art will suffer, artists become nervous and unwilling to express themselves, which will kill creativity, eventually leading to the death of art.”,说明“取消文化”会让艺术家失去表达和创作的欲望,从而扼杀艺术。
36.原文第6段提到“While these artists may engage in their terrible behavior, the art they produce today may serve as an example for others to produce outstanding work in the future.”,说明犯错的艺术家的作品能为他人提供创作灵感。

59.What do people look for in the color walk?
