Our planet is facing many problems, like pollution and climate change. But don’t worry! Even young people like you can make a big difference. Let’s learn from a boy named Yao Keyi.
Yao is a high school student who loves our planet and wants to protect it. He joined the “Carbon (碳) Discovery Plan” project. Its purpose is to create a greener and cleaner world. Yao visited factories and learned that many factories released (释放) lots of CO2 into the air. So, he looked for projects that used clean energy, like wind power. “They come from nature and produce electricity without polluting the air,” Yao said.
Yao didn’t stop there. He worked with experts to study how to store (储存) CO2 safely in rocks. This way, CO2 won’t go into the air. He even shared his ideas with experts. Because of his hard work, he got praise from his teachers.
Yao’s story shows us that even teenagers can make a difference to the environment. You might think, “What can I do as a student?” But every little action is important! You can start by learning about the environment, as Yao did. You can also save energy by turning off lights and using less water. Maybe you can plant trees or recycle more. Remember, our planet is our home. We need to take care of it so that humans and nature can live together in peace.

The Chinese animated movie Ne Zha 2 has been a big hit since it came out during the Spring Festival this year. It has not only broken box-office records but also opened a door to China’s rich ancient culture.
What makes Ne Zha 2 so special is that it weaves (编) parts of ancient Chinese culture into its fantastic story. In it, many ancient cultural things come alive on the big screen. For example, the seven-colored sacred lotus (荷花) in the movie, which helps rebuild Ne Zha’s and Ao Bing’s bodies, is like the Boshan censer (博山炉) in the Hebei Museum. The Boshan censer was used for burning incense (香) in the Western Han Dynasty. The funny barrier beasts (结界兽) look like the relics (遗物) from the Sanxingdui culture. And the Tianyuan tripod (天元鼎) is designed like the bronze tripods from the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Moreover, the sword (剑) of Ao Guang gets the idea from real-life ancient swords, and the scene of the Yuyu Palace is inspired by a famous painting of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty.
Ne Zha 2 not only brings an exciting story but also serves as a bridge between the modern movie and ancient Chinese culture. Traditional culture can shine brightly in modern cinemas. Reading under big trees may sound simple, but it’s a wonderful way to help students enjoy reading and get close to nature. At Yangliu Primary School in Dongcheng, Lichuan, the “Reading Under Big Trees” activity lets children read in the arms of nature, making the reading experience more fun and relaxing.
School leaders said many students feel stressed when reading in classrooms. They hope this activity can break the limits (限制) of traditional reading spaces. Under the thick and green trees, the students sit together, holding their favorite books. The wind blows softly, making the leaves rustle (沙沙作响)—this sound mixes with the turning of book pages, creating a piece of beautiful “reading music”.
Some students read aloud and share wonderful parts of their books. Others lose themselves in the stories, smiling or thinking deeply from time to time. Zhao Jiayue, a Grade Four student, said reading under big trees makes him feel like he’s part of nature and the stories. Wu Jianhua from Grade Five also loved the activity, as he found more interesting books and made new friends through communication.
This activity not only helps students develop good reading habits but also deepens their love for nature. It shows that reading can happen anywhere, and nature is the best reading partner.
66.What is the main purpose of the “Reading Under Big Trees” activity?
A.To let students have more exams.
B.To help students make more money.
C.To ask students to clean the big trees.

Siberian tigers (西伯利亚虎), also known as Amur tigers, mainly live in eastern Russia, Northeast China, and the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. At the beginning of the 20th century, Siberian tigers were widely found in Northeast China. However, the tigers disappeared from the area for different reasons in the 1970s. They are on China’s first-class protection list.
In order to protect Siberian tigers, China has been taking action. In Northeast China and Leopard National Park in Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces, a high-tech system(高科技系统) has been used to provide real-time(实时的) protection for the plants and animals. The system has taken more than 4,000 pictures of Siberian tigers and Amur leopards, according to Hou Ling, director of the park’s office. Besides, some people would like to join the teams to protect wild tigers. Dong Hongyu, the 55-year-old from Heilongjiang, has been working to protect Siberian tigers for 22 years. Although it was difficult sometimes, this protector never thought about giving up.
Luckily, all these efforts have paid off. Now there are more than sixty Siberian tigers in our country. More importantly, the survival rate of young Siberian tigers has increased from 33 percent in 2016 to 50 percent now.
Not only Siberian tigers but also many other kinds of endangered animals have been protected. Over the past tens of years, China has made great achievements in wildlife protection. One of the most successful examples is the giant panda. The population of the wild giant panda has grown from 1,114 in the 1970s to over 1,864 now.
China will continue to protect wildlife. In the next five years, China will build more protected areas for wildlife and improve their living places. Special scientific research will also be done on endangered animals, including giant pandas and Siberian tigers.

Dear John,
How is everything going? I’m excited to share a meaningful activity with you.
Last Wednesday, our school held “Farms of Every Class” at the back of the classroom building. Each class got a small piece of land. We planted vegetables like tomatoes and carrots, and some fruits like strawberries. Everyone had great fun.
This activity aims to make our school life colorful and let us experience the joy of labor. Though I felt tired after working, I was happy to see the seeds in the soil. I learned that hard work brings happiness.

Yours,
