①Ants are small insects. You can see them almost everywhere on earth. There are more than 8,000 kinds of ants. Most ants live in big groups (群). Each group has one very large queen. Her job is to lay eggs (产卵). And every ant in the group has a special job to do.
②One interesting kind of ants is the driver ant. Driver ants mostly live in Africa. In their group, there are soldier ants (兵蚁). They have big jaws (颌) to protect the queen and other ants. But soldier ants can’t feed themselves because their jaws are too big. Smaller worker ants get food and feed the queen and soldiers.
③Driver ants eat meat. They catch and eat animals that can’t run away. Sometimes they even eat big animals like cows, but mostly they eat insects. A driver ant group can catch over 100,000 insects in one day!
④Driver ants are always moving. They don’t make a home in one place. If the queen is laying eggs, the group stops for a short time. When the baby ants can move, the group travels again.

Our school has an important rule: students can’t bring smart watches to school. Here are three reasons for it.

On a cold night, a little Swallow (燕子) flies over the city. He feels very tired and wants to have a good sleep in the city. When he sees the Statue (雕像) of the Happy Prince, he flies down and gets ready to sleep at the feet of the Happy Prince.
Just when he is putting his head down, he feels some water on him. He thinks it is strange to rain right now. Then he looks up, there are lots of stars in the sky. Suddenly, he sees some tears (眼泪) running down the Prince’s face. He is very surprised.
“Why are you crying (哭)?” asks the Swallow.
“On a small street, there’s an old house. From one of the windows, I see a woman sitting at a table. She’s making new clothes for a rich woman. On the bed, her little boy is ill. He’s asking for oranges. But his mother only has water to give him. The boy has no food to eat, so he is crying loudly. How poor they are! Little Swallow, could you please take the red jewel (珠宝) from my sword to them?” answers the Prince.
The Swallow then takes the jewel from the Prince’s sword (剑) and flies away. He flies into the woman’s room and puts it near the boy’s bed.
After he flies back, he tells the Prince what he does. “It’s strange,” he says, “It’s so cold but I feel very warm now.”
“That’s because you help people,” says the Prince.
The little Swallow keeps thinking about the Prince’s words, and then he falls asleep.

The day passes. Dorothy works very hard in the kitchen. She remembers Uncle Henry and Aunt Em in Kansas. She remembers her friends the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. She’s very sad and she often cries. At night, she goes to see the Lion. The Witch doesn’t give him anything to eat or drink, so Dorothy takes food and water from the kitchen. Then she lies down next to him, puts her head on his warm body and sleeps until the morning.
The Witch watches Dorothy all the time. She’s waiting for the right moment to take the silver shoes. Dorothy wears them all the time. She loves them. The only time she takes them off is when she has a bath. The Witch doesn’t like water, so she’s afraid to go near the girl when she’s in the bath.
One day Dorothy is cleaning the kitchen and she slips on the wet floor. She falls over and one of the silver shoes comes off. The Witch is watching. She picks it up quickly and puts it on.
“Give me back my shoe!” Dorothy says.
“No! It’s my shoe now!” the Witch replies.
“You are a wicked woman!” Dorothy shouts. “I want my shoe!”
