Wang Zhechun majored in Indonesian at college because of her love for Bali. Her sister told her that
being able to speak the language would make traveling to the popular tourist destination easier."I
imagined having a relaxing vacation in Bali, and quickly decided to study Indonesian at college,"Wang,
28,said.
After graduating in 2020,she received an offer and joined the China Railway Beijing Group and was
employed as a translator and interpreter for the railway. However, she faced a significant challenge,as she
had little knowledge of railways, let alone the technical terms associated with them.
Wang immersed herself in textbooks, learning about equipment, including rail tracks, and signals. In
January 2021,she joined a group tasked with preparing for the railway to open. Her work had a tight
schedule, high standards, and involved numerous railway terminologies."At that time,I began to
understand the importance of acquiring railway knowledge. As a railway interpreter, technical expertise is
essential,"Wang said.
In October 2021,Wang traveled to Indonesia to start work, and in addition to her desk duties, she
served as an interpreter at conferences.Recalling her first international conference as an interpreter, she
said her hands shook, and she struggled to hear herself speak.Afterward, she could barely recall what had
taken place.
Determined to overcome such challenges, she devoted herself to becoming familiar with the material
in advance. For meetings the following day,she stayed up late the previous night to learn words not
commonly used in business discussions.
Now,Wang not only translates railway policies and other material, but also excels as an on-site
interpreter at conferences."As a translator and interpreter,I have witnessed many important moments for
the railway,"she said."I also feel extremely proud and happy when I see many passengers on the
high-speed train applauding and cheering its smooth operation when it reaches a speed of 350 kilometers
per hour."
Although she still hasn't had the chance to visit Bali, she hopes that day will come soon.

In the digital age,the boundary between work and rest has become increasingly blurred.Constant
online connectivity leaves many young people mentally exhausted, and the rise of Asia's "lying flat"
(Tang Ping)movement clearly shows a generation's deep burnout and exhaustion with endless social and
work pressure.In response,a new counter-trend called "Ging,"meaning "going,"is quickly gaining
popularity among young people.
Different from the aggressive hustle culture of the 2010s,"Ging"highlights natural movement and
mental flow rather than forced overwork. Its supporters do not encourage non-stop work but follow a
pattern of"deep cycle":short periods of focused, intense work followed by a full digital detox to reset the
mind.A 2026 survey by the Asian Youth Institute shows that 68%of Gen Z workers reported feeling
more efficient and less stressed after following this balanced rhythm.
Life coach Mei Chen explains,"It's about rhythm, not rest.Your brain isn't meant to turn 'on'or 'off'
like a simple switch. It doesn't recharge slowly like a battery or flow evenly like a river.Instead,it works
in waves:high energy,low energy,high energy,in a natural cycle."
Although some critics warn that this pattern may cause unstable productivity, major companies
including Alibaba and Tencent have launched experimental "Flow Hours"policies. These programs let
employees set aside fixed time for undisturbed work, helping them stay focused and avoid burnout.More
businesses are adopting similar plans, proving that the"Ging"mindset is moving from a personal lifestyle
choice into widely accepted corporate practice.
28.What does the underlined word"Ging"most probably refer to?
A.Constant productivity and long working hours.
B.A rhythmic pattern of intense work and complete rest
C.Complete withdrawal from the workforce.
D.Working during traditional office hours.
29.According to the survey, how did most Gen Z employees feel after adopting the "Ging"rhythm?
A.More anxious but wealthier.
B.Less productive but more energetic.
C.More energetic and less stressed.
D.More productive and less anxious.
30.What does life coach Mei Chen compare the brain's energy to?
A.A battery.B.A switch.
C.Awave.
D.A river.
31.What is the significance of companies adopting"Flow Hours"?
A.It means the "lying flat"movement has come to an end.
B.It proves that traditional offices are outdated.
C.It indicates that companies are ignoring employee burnout.
D.It shows that"Ging"is becoming part of official work structures.

New research challenges the widespread belief that artificial intelligence (AD)is driving a major rise
in global greenhouse gas emissions.Scientists from the University of Waterloo and the Georgia Institute
of Technology analyzed U.S.economic data alongside estimates of how frequently AI tools are used
across different industries.Their aim was to understand what might happen to the environment if AI
adoption increases along its current path.
According to the U.S.Energy Information Administration,83 percent of the nation's economic
activity relies on petrol, coal and natural gas. These fuels release greenhouse gases when burned. The
researchers noted that total energy use from AI in the U.S.matched the electricity consumption of Iceland,
yet this amount remained insignificant when viewed at national or global levels.
"It is important to note that the increase in energy use is not going to be uniform. It's going to be felt
more in the places where electricity is produced to power the data centers,"said Dr Juan Moreno-Cruz,a
professor at the School of Environment,Enterprise and Development at the University of Waterloo and
Canada Research Chair in Energy Transitions."If you look at that energy from the local perspective,
that's a big deal because some places could see double the amount of electricity output and emissions. But
at a larger scale,AI's use of energy won't be noticeable."
"For people who believe that the use of AI will be a major problem for the climate and think we
should avoid it,we're offering a different perspective,"Moreno-Cruz added."The effects on climate are
not that significant, and we can use AI to develop green technologies or to improve existing ones."
To develop their findings, environmental economists Moreno-Cruz and Dr Anthony Harding
reviewed a variety of economic sectors, the types of jobs within those sectors, and the share of tasks that
could potentially be performed by AI.Moreno-Cruz and Harding intend to apply the same approach to
additional countries in order to understand how AI adoption may affect environmental outcomes across
different regions of the world.
32.What is the primary goal of the research?
A.To promote the development of green AI.
B.To measure energy consumption worldwide.
C.To wamn about AI's growing energy demands.
D.To evaluate AI's potential environmental effects
33.What can be said about AI energy consumption in the U.S.?
A.It contributes to petrol-based activities.
B.It will soon reach the global emission target.
C.It has minor influence at the national level.
D.It goes beyond Iceland's electricity consumption.
34.What do researchers plan to do next?
A.Shift focus to AI's economic advantages.
B.Broaden their research to cover more nations.
C.Develop AI applications to stop emissions.
D.Reduce the energy use of AI in data centers.
35.Which of the following is the main idea of the text?
A.AI's impact on climate is much smaller than believed.
B.AI energy consumption urgently needs regulating.
C.Data centers emit more than previously estimated.
D.AI technology drives greenhouse gas emissions.

Here's how to get started.

having a favorite dinner at home or at a restaurant,or going to the movies.Something simple-like
"Way to go!"-covers almost any achievement.Or you can get creative or silly. If you're celebrating
getting your braces (off, for instance, you can write"Brace yourself for a new smile!"Celebrate the
highlights of your life, big and small, with these ideas.
Pay it forward. One of the best ways to appreciate what you've accomplished is to give back.If you
have achieved a personal goal or completed a big project, you can use the knowledge you've gained to
help others. If you passed a recent test, you could offer to help a classmate by tutoring them.40

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文.
Ella and Lily had been best friends since they were in primary school. For years, they were
inseparable-walking to school hand in hand every morning, sharing candies and notebooks, and
whispering secrets under the old banyan tree on the playground.Whenever either of them felt down, the
other would always be the first to comfort her.Their deep and warm friendship was the envy of almost all
their classmates.
But last month,a silly misunderstanding destroyed their close bond.Their school decided to hold a
charity sale to help left-behind children in poverty-stricken areas, and their teacher chose Ella and Lily to
be in charge together, trusting their cooperation.Ella was creative and loved making handmade crafts.
She believed beautiful paper stars, woven bracelets()and painted cards would attract students and
raise more money.More importantly,it would be fun and easy to organize. However,Lily thought
differently. She considered collecting second-hand books more practical and meaningful,so they could
raise money more easily for those children.
Neither was willing to give in.Soon their discussion turned into a sharp argument. They said selfish,
impatient words that they didn't really mean, hurting each other deeply. After that, they stopped speaking
completely.
They avoided each other in the hallway, sat far apart in class, and pretended not to care.Yet both felt
empty and painful inside, regretting their rude behavior, but pride stopped them from saying sorry first.
Their once firm friendship was now as fragile as a cracked mirror.
Several days later, the charity sale was still approaching. The teacher reminded them that they
needed to finalize their plan and start preparing soon.Left with no choice,Ella and Lily had to meet and
talk about the charity sale once more.Embarrassed as they were, both of them were eager to mend their
broken friendship.
Paragraph 1:When they sat down opposite each other,a deep silence fell between them.
Paragraph 2:The day ofcharity sale finally arrived.

A Meaningful Spring Study Tour
Last week,we Grade 1 students, accompanied by our teachers, went on a fascinating study tour to Nanjing
Ginkgo Lake Paradise, themed"Exploring Nature and Appreciating Culture".
Surrounded by picturesque landscapes,we firstly conducted in-depth observations of diverse plants and tiny
wildlife, applying our biological knowledge to real scenarios.Following that, some of us took photos of the
beautiful scenery, while others chatted happily and enjoyed a pleasant picnic by the lake. After lunch,we wandered
along the lakeside paths, appreciating the harmony between nature and humanity.
This immersive experience not only refreshed our minds but also fostered our awareness of environmental
protection.Exhausted as we were,we returned with precious memories and a renewed passion for exploring the
world.
第二节(满分25分)
Para I When they sat down opposite eachother;a deep silence fell between them.Neither dared to look the other in
the eye,yet both could feel the regret floating in the air.Gathering her courage,Ella spoke first in a soft voice,
saying that she had been too stubborn and had not fully considered Lily's kind intention.Hearing this,Lily's eyes
turned red.She quickly apologized too, admitting that she had also been selfish and had said hurtful words out of
impatience. They both poured out their true feelings, and the misunderstanding that had separated them slowly
melted away.Instead of insisting on their own ideas, they started to listen to each other carefully. In the end, they
came up with a wonderful idea:to combine handmade crafts and second-hand books into one warm charity activity.
Paragraph 2:
The day ofcharity sale finally arrived. The beautiful paper stars and delicate bracelets attracted many students,
while the carefully sorted books were warmly welcomed.Passers-by praised the creative and meaningful activity,
and more and more people joined in to show their kindness. Before long, they had raised a surprisingly large
amount of money.Looking at the crowded stall and the smiling faces around them,Ella and Lily looked at each
other and smiled. They realized that true friendship was not about never quarreling, but about understanding,
forgiving, and standing together even when disagreements arose.Hand in hand again, they knew that their bond
had become stronger than ever.
