Have you ever wished for a short spring holiday? Some schools in China now offer spring and autumn breaks. Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, has just been part of this change.
In March 2026, Hunan Province introduced the spring break. The spring break in Changsha lasts two days. It falls on April 30 and May 6. These two days connect with the May Day holiday, so students can enjoy a seven-day vacation! Many families were excited about this news.
What do students do during the break? Some go on study trips and visit museums. Others enjoy the spring flowers in parks around the city. In Changsha, students can join more than 100 spring activities. Parents also like this time. “Spring break is the perfect time for outings,” said a parent.
However, some parents have worries. They worry that these holidays might reduce study time. They also find it difficult to come up with meaningful activities for their kids. Besides, student safety is another challenge.

A Chinese motorcycle brand, ZXMOTO, won two races in one weekend at the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP). This was a great success because ZXMOTO is a new company. Its owner, Zhang Xue, was so excited that he cried.
Many people compare Zhang’s story to the popular Chinese film Pegasus (《飞驰人生》) — a story about a person from a poor background who never gives up. Zhang was born in a poor village in Hunan Province in 1987. When he was just 14, he started to work as a motorcycle repair apprentice(学徒). He loved motorcycles so much that he never stopped learning. At 19, he rode his motorcycle for over 100 kilometers in the heavy rain to keep up with a TV group! He just wanted a chance to join a professional (专业的) team. The TV group was deeply moved by his strong will. Later, he became a stunt (特技) rider and a mechanic.
Zhang dreamed of being a racer, but he started training too late. So he made a new dream, “If my own motorcycle can win a world championship, it’s just like I have won it myself.” In 2017, he started another famous brand, Kove Moto. In 2024, he founded his own company, ZXMOTO, and focused on making world-class racing motorcycles with Chinese technology.
For a long time, big Japanese and European brands won all the top races. Now, ZXMOTO has changed this. It shows that Chinese manufacturing (制造) is becoming stronger and can build an excellent racing culture. Zhang Xue’s life shows us that with a true love and a never-give-up spirit, any big dream can come true.
28. What achievement did ZXMOTO make at the 2026 WorldSSP?
A. It won one race last weekend.
B. It won two races in one weekend.
C. It won the second prize.
29. Which of the following is NOT TRUE?

B. Zhang couldn’t be a racer because he started training too late.
C. Zhang’s ZXMOTO shows Chinese manufacturing is becoming stronger.

A. He gives up easily when facing difficulties.
B. He becomes a famous racer at a young age.
C. He is a determined and hard-working person.
31. What’s the writer’s attitude towards Zhang Xue?
A. Respectful. B. Doubtful. C. Uninterested.

These days, an ancient Chinese exercise called Baduanjin has become popular among young people in China. In the past, you might only see elderly people practising this slow graceful exercise in parks, often with relaxing music playing in the background. 32 More and more young office workers and students are turning to this health practice. It has a history of more than 800 years. The movements are easy to learn and remember. People just need to stretch (舒展) the body, turn the head, and move the body forward. Even a beginner can follow the steps without getting tired.
One of the main reasons for this change is its amazing convenience (便利). After spending long hours sitting at desks or staring (凝视) at screens, many young people suffer from neck and back pain. 33 They can follow an online teaching video at home, which requires very little space or special things. A popular video has already been played more than 10 million times online. “I have been doing it for four months,” said one young man. “It helps me a lot. 34 ” Another student shared, “I used to feel tired every afternoon. Now I feel more energetic after just ten minutes of practice.”
Sun Yuxuan, a 21-year-old college student, has been teaching other students to practise Baduanjin for over three years. When her group first started in 2019, it only had 20 members. 35 “I really didn’t expect it to attract so many young people,” Sun said. “I guess that’s because practising Baduanjin really makes them healthier.”
A. It gives me a much healthier lifestyle and better sleep.
B. Every member in the group is very active and talented.
C. However, things are quite different now.
D. Baduanjin helps to ease the pain and it takes little effort or time.
E. Now, the number has grown to 45.

Last year, Aiden Taylor, 46 11-year-old student at Brisbane State High School in Australia, joined the school’s Green Action Club. The club, founded in 2018, focuses on protecting local mountains and forests through regular clean-ups and tree-planting activities. Last month, the Queensland State Government 53 (begin) a new green program. More parks and protected areas will be built to change this situation. Students in our school also take part in green 54 (activity) — such as river clean-ups, recycling drives and solar energy workshops. We try to live a lower carbon life than before.

Growing up is never an easy journey for teenagers. Today, many students have trouble with heavy schoolwork and spend too much time on smartphones, which has become a serious social problem. To support (维护) teenagers’ mental health, schools around the world have started real-world programs.
One true example is at Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, USA. The school runs a Digital Wellbeing Club in partnership with the nonprofit (非营利) LiveMore ScreenLess.
Olivia Kanavati, a junior at the school, used to be deeply addicted (对……上瘾) to her phone. She often stayed up late using social media and games, felt anxious and could not focus in class. “I would look at my screen time and realize: what am I doing with my life?” she said.
Later, Olivia joined the Digital Wellbeing Club. There, students learn to plan their screen time and real life properly. Now she spends free time more meaningfully. She reads in the school library, draws with friends, and joins art and music activities after class. She also talks more openly with her family and teachers when she feels stressed. She spends less than 2 hours on the phones each week now.
Olivia has become a more confident and outgoing girl bit by bit. She understands that growing up means not just study progress, but also a healthy mind and real-world connections. With school and community support, teenagers like Olivia can grow up better and face life bravely.
