Many people wear face masks (口罩) when staying out these days. But do you know that they have a history of thousands of years?
The earliest face mask-like objects date back to the 6th century B.C. in Persia. According to the study, religious priests (宗教祭司) needed to wear masks when they honored ancestors. They thought the masks could cover their mouths and noses when they held outdoor ceremonies in front of the holy fire altar (圣火坛) to prevent from spitting out (吐口水) when they spoke, which showed their respect (尊敬) to the ancestors. Some people in the drawings of that time were wearing a piece of cloth over their faces. In the 14th century, a serious illness called the Black Death spread to many European countries. French doctor Charles invented a special mask. The mask looked like the head of a bird. It completely covered the wearer’s face. The wearer had to see through the glass in the mask. The medicine in the mask protected the wearer from illnesses. The face masks we use today were invented in China. In 1910, a serious illness spread in northeastern China. The Chinese medical scientist Wu Liande carried out research with very careful medical methods. He discovered that the illness could quickly spread through people’s breath. Then he invented “Wu’s mask” and advised people to wear it. Within four months, the illness was under control. Since it was cheap and easy to make, the mask was widely praised by the experts in the world.
Over the past few years, some scientists have tried to develop the face mask. Today, face masks are among the world’s best-selling products.
根据短文内容,判断句子正(T)、误(F)。

38.In the early 20th century, a serious illness spread in northeastern China.

A team of engineers from a famous technology company in China has developed a new type of wearable health monitoring bracelet (手环) .This bracelet is not only fashionable in appearance but also has powerful functions. It is made of lightweight and skin-friendly materials, so people won’t feel uncomfortable even when wearing it for a long time.
The bracelet can continuously monitor various health indicators of the wearer, such as heart rate, blood pressure, sleep quality and the number of steps taken. What’s special about it is that it can send real-time data to a mobile phone app via Bluetooth. If there is any abnormal change in the health indicators, the app will send an alarm to remind the wearer and their family members in time. This is very helpful for the elderly and people with chronic diseases (慢性病) .
Compared with traditional health monitoring devices, this bracelet is more convenient to use. It doesn’t need to be charged frequently because it has a long-lasting battery that can work for up to 14 days after being fully charged. In addition, it is waterproof, so people can wear it when washing their hands or even swimming.

Yuan Longping, a great scientist, is the first person to develop a kind of hybrid rice (杂交水稻) which helps fight hunger in China.
Food was a big problem in China in the past. This was because China had 22 percent of the world’s population, but only 7 percent of its farmland. In the 1960s, China suffered serious hunger. Millions of people died because they had no food. As an agronomy (农学) teacher, Yuan was very sad to see this. “How can I help them have enough food?” he thought.
