When I was young, I loved paper cutting and I was pretty good at it. As I grew up, I became busy and didn’t have much time for it. Later, I stopped doing it.
However, the news I came across online touched my heart and changed my mind. A little girl from Jieyang, Guangdong was practicing lion dance when a professional lion dance performance team (专业舞狮表演队) passed by. As soon as they saw the girl practicing, they started to beat drums and gongs for her and quickly she did a lion dance in return. People around all cheered for her. Her love for the ancient Chinese culture evoked my strong memories of paper cutting.
I remembered the happy times of making paper cuttings with my teacher and friends in the club. When I was ten, I joined the paper cutting club. Every Monday and Friday, I learned to make paper cuttings there. Our teacher, Ms. Li, was very talented. With a pair of scissors and a piece of paper, she could create lively works (作品). That amazed us. And we learned much from her. Together, we created lots of works. They covered many topics, including animals, flowers and things about Chinese history. Every time we held a paper cutting show, our works attracted many visitors. The girl in the news encouraged me to go on with paper cutting. I want to be an inheritor (继承者) of the ancient Chinese culture. Together with other inheritors, I hope to pass down our excellent culture.
24.What did the girl do after the team began to beat drums and gongs for her?
A.She watched their show carefully. B.She did a lion dance in return.

B.The steps of making paper cuttings.
C.The writer’s happy times of making paper cuttings.
D.The writer’s plans for setting up a paper cutting club.
27.Which of the following is TRUE?
A.The writer wasn’t good at paper cutting at a young age.
B.Now the writer practices paper cutting twice a week.
C.The writer hopes to be an inheritor of paper cutting.
D.After watching the news, the writer decided to learn lion dance.

第二段提到“As soon as they saw the girl practicing, they started to beat drums and gongs for her and quickly she did a lion dance in return.”(他们一看到女孩在练习,就开始为她敲锣打鼓,很快她就跳了一个舞狮作为回报。)
划线词后第三段提到“I remembered the happy times of making paper cuttings with my teacher and friends in the club.”(我记得在俱乐部里和老师、朋友们一起做剪纸的快乐时光。) A. brought back使回忆起;B. took away拿走;C. cut off切断;中断;D. depended on依靠。 故选A。
第三段提到“I remembered the happy times of making paper cuttings with my teacher and friends in the club.”(我记得在俱乐部里和老师、朋友们一起做剪纸的快乐时光。)

Frightening as monsters (怪兽) are, they have always attracted us. From strange combinations of animals to magical beings, creatures have emerged from our imaginations throughout history. Today, they still frequent our cinema screens. Considering how scared we can be of monsters, it seems paradoxical that we keep making them. In fact, there is science behind our love of monsters.
Monsters are imaginary creatures that come from our long history of living with predators (捕食者). Snakes, for example, were among our ancestors’ (祖先) first deadly threats, causing them to develop snake-responsive neurons in their brains. This adaptation allowed them to recognize snakes with just a quick look. That is why we get a thrill seeing snake-like monsters on the screen.
Similarly, our ancestors’ minds were shaped by the need to spot bears, lions and other larger predators in tough environments. With their long teeth and giant claws, these animals have seized our imaginations, appearing in cave paintings over thousands of years, and then on modern screens.
There are psychological benefits to being frightened by monsters. Scary stories with terrifying creatures activate the amygdala, the brain’s fear center, which releases adrenaline With the story ending in safety, adrenaline levels drop, bringing chemicals that fuel the feeling of relaxation. Such controlled fear experience might help us to manage long-term stress or increase our pain tolerance. As a result, some people with anxiety enjoy watching horror films before bed.
The monsters we create today for films and books reflect our deepest fears — whether it’s Godzilla threatening civilization, or aliens growing within us. By understanding our monsters and why we make them, we can learn a great deal about what is going on under the surface of our minds.
28.Which word can replace the underlined word “paradoxical” in paragraph 1?
A.Unnecessary. B.Frightening.
C.Predictable. D.Unreasonable.
29.What is the purpose of paragraphs 2 and 3?
A.To show the origin of monsters. B.To compare different deadly creatures.
C.To honour the wisdom of our ancestors. D.To introduce dangerous animals on screens.
30.How does watching a horror film benefit people with anxiety?
A.It helps people to fight against fear. B.It helps people forget anxious experiences.
C.It helps people feel relaxed with its safe ending. D.It helps people learn how to escape from dangers.
31.What is the author’s attitude towards our love of monsters?
A.Critical. B.Uncertain. C.Supportive. D.Indifferent.

根据前文“Considering how scared we can be of monsters(考虑到我们对怪物有多害怕)”以及后文“we keep making them(我们一直制造怪物)”可知,我们害怕怪物,但是又一直在制造怪物,看起来是不合理的。
根据第二段“Monsters are imaginary creatures that come from our long history of living with predators (捕食者). Snakes, for example, were among our ancestors’ (祖先) first deadly threats, causing them to develop snake-responsive neurons in their brains.(怪物是我们与捕食者长期共存的历史中想象出来的生物。例如,蛇是我们祖先的第一个致命威胁,导致他们在大脑中发展出对蛇敏感的神经元)”以及第三段“Similarly, our ancestors’ minds were shaped by the need to spot bears, lions and other larger predators in tough environments. With their long teeth and giant claws, these animals have seized our imaginations, appearing in cave paintings over thousands of years, and then on modern screens.(同样,我们祖先的思维也受到在恶劣环境中发现熊、狮子和其他大型捕食者的需要的影响。这些动物有着长长的牙齿和巨大的爪子,它们抓住了我们的想象力,几千年来,它们出现在洞穴壁画中,然后出现在现代的屏幕上)”可知,这两段从蛇和大型捕食者的角度解释了怪物的起源,指出它们是基于我们祖先与捕食者共存的历史经验演化得来。由此推知,二三段的目的是说明怪物的起源。故选A项。
根据倒数第二段“There are psychological benefits to being frightened by monsters. Scary stories with terrifying creatures activate the amygdala, the brain’s fear center, which releases adrenaline (肾上腺素). With the story ending in safety, adrenaline levels drop, bringing chemicals that fuel the feeling of relaxation. Such controlled fear experience might help us to manage long-term stress or increase our pain tolerance. As a result, some people with anxiety enjoy watching horror films before bed.(被怪物吓到有心理上的好处。可怕生物的恐怖故事会激活杏仁核,大脑的恐惧中心,释放肾上腺素。随着故事在安全的情况下结束,肾上腺素水平下降,产生了促进放松感的化学物质。这种可控的恐惧体验可能有助于我们管理长期压力或提高我们的疼痛耐受力。因此,一些焦虑的人喜欢在睡觉前看恐怖电影)”可知,观看恐怖电影能让人们在安全的结局中感到放松。故选C项。
31.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Such controlled fear experience might help us to manage long-term stress or increase our pain tolerance.(这种可控的恐惧体验可能有助于我们管理长期压力或提高我们的疼痛耐受力)”以及最后一段“The monsters we create today for films and books reflect our deepest fears — whether it’s Godzilla threatening civilization, or aliens growing within us. By understanding our monsters and why we make them, we can learn a great deal about what is going on under the surface of our minds.(我们今天为电影和书籍创造的怪物反映了我们最深的恐惧——无论是威胁文明的哥斯拉,还是在我们体内生长的外星人。通过了解我们的怪物以及我们为什么制造它们,我们可以学到很多关于我们思想表面下发生的事情)”可知,作者认为对怪物的喜爱能有助于我们管理长期压力或提高我们的疼痛耐受力,以及学到很多关于我们思想表面下发生的事情。由此推知,作者对我们对怪物的喜爱支持的态度。故选C项。
D
It was 3: 30 in the morning. I was holding my baby, scrolling (划屏) through my phone and feeling groggy (昏昏沉沉的). I had a brief out-of-body experience, seeing myself as an outsider. There was my baby, gazing up at me, and there was me, looking down at my phone. I was terrified. It was then that I decided to “break up” with my phone and set better boundaries (界限).
Our most time-consuming apps are designed to take our attention away because that’s how their creators make money. These apps are part of the “attention economy”, where our attention and data are sold. We are not the customers of these apps; advertisers are.
App makers use psychological tricks. These tricks control the release of dopamine (多巴胺), a chemical that motivates us to repeat behaviors. This system can’t tell the differences between good and bad behaviors — it just encourages repetition (重复). Phones and apps are packed with dopamine triggers (触发器). Bright colors, novelty, unpredictability, and rewards like social approval are all dopamine triggers. This is why social media, news, email, games and shopping apps are so addictive.
If we don’t recognize what is happening and fight back, we risk becoming like lab rats. One of the first steps I took was to minimize my exposure to dopamine triggers by turning off most notifications (通知) , hiding or deleting my most time-sucking apps, and turning my phone’s screen to black and white. I also banned my phone from my bedroom and the dining table and charged it in a closet (壁橱) at night.
My relationship with my phone still isn’t perfect — no relationship ever is. But it has improved in ways I never would have anticipated (预料).
32.Why did the author decide to “break up” with her phone?
A.She needed more sleep.
B.She found apps too boring.
C.She wanted to reduce her spending on her phone.
D.She realized her attention was being guided wrongly.
33.Who are the real customers of apps in the “attention economy” according to the author?
A.Phone users. B.Advertisers. C.App creators. D.Data experts.
34.How do app makers make their apps addictive?
A.By limiting user choices. B.By stirring up dopamine triggers.
C.By providing useful content. D.By offering various rewards.
35.What does the author want to convey (传达) in this article?
A.Breaking up with your phone is easy. B.Phones are designed to be addictive.
C.Don’t let your phone steal your attention. D.More time should be devoted to family.
根据第一段中“I had a brief out-of-body experience, seeing myself as an outsider. There was my baby, gazing up at me, and there was me, looking down at my phone. I was terrified. It was then that I decided to “break up” with my phone and set better boundaries (界限) .(我经历了短暂的灵魂出窍体验,将自己视作一个旁观者。一边是我的宝宝抬头凝视着我,另一边的我却低头盯着手机。我感到恐惧,就在那时,我决定和手机“分手”,并设定更好的界限)”可知,作者决定与手机“分手”,是因为她意识到自己的注意力被手机错误引导。
33.细节理解题。根据第二段“These apps are part of the “attention economy”, where our attention and data are sold. We are not the customers of these apps; advertisers are (这些应用程序是“注意力经济”的一部分,我们的注意力和数据被出售。我们不是这些应用程序的客户,广告商才是)”可知,在“注意力经济”中,应用程序真正的客户是广告商。
34.细节理解题。根据第三段“Phones and apps are packed with dopamine triggers (触发器). Bright colors, novelty, unpredictability, and rewards like social approval are all dopamine triggers. This is why social media, news, email, games and shopping apps are so addictive.(手机和应用程序里充满了多巴胺触发器。明亮的色彩、新奇感、不可预测性,以及社交认可这类奖励,都是多巴胺触发器。正因如此,社交媒体、新闻、电子邮件、游戏和购物应用程序才如此令人上瘾)”可知,应用程序开发者通过触发多巴胺释放、利用多巴胺触发器让用户上瘾。
35.推理判断题。根据第一段“It was then that I decided to “break up” with my phone and set better boundaries (界限).(就在那时,我决定和手机“分手”,并设定更好的界限)”、第三段“Phones and apps are packed with dopamine triggers (触发器) . Bright colors, novelty, unpredictability, and rewards like social approval are all dopamine triggers. This is why social media, news, email, games and shopping apps are so addictive.(手机和应用程序里充满了多巴胺触发器。明亮的色彩、新奇感、不可预测性,以及社交认可这类奖励,都是多巴胺触发器。正因如此,社交媒体、新闻、电子邮件、游戏和购物应用程序才如此令人上瘾)”以及倒数第二段“If we don’t recognize what is happening and fight back, we risk becoming like lab rats. One of the first steps I took was to minimize my exposure to dopamine triggers by turning off most notifications (通知), hiding or deleting my most time-sucking apps, and turning my phone’s screen to black and white. I also banned my phone from my bedroom and the dining table and charged it in a closet (壁橱) at night(如果我们意识不到正在发生的一切并予以反击,我们就有可能沦为实验室里的小白鼠。
How to Manage Time for Tests
Timed tests can be kind of tiring, but if you manage your time wisely, you’ll be able to get the best score possible, even if you don’t have time to answer every question. 36 .
Start by reading through all the questions.
Give yourself 1-2 minutes to go through the entire test. 37 . Know how many questions there are and the different types of questions you need to answer before you dive into answering.
38 .
Start with the part you’re most confident about. It can help to start out with a part of the test that you feel like you really understand well. Not only will this increase your confidence, but you’ll likely be able to answer the question in this part more quickly, leaving you extra time for a part you might need to think a little more about.
Go back and work on the hardest questions.
Once you’ve taken care of all of the questions you feel confident about, go back to finish the hard questions you skipped (跳过) the first time. 39 . At the very end of the test, if you still have time, you can look back over the hardest questions that you’re not sure about.

“not just for...but also for...” 故填for。
故填is。
故填which。

故填a。
故填were added。

A Memorable Spring Outing
Last Sunday, all Senior One teachers and students took part in a wonderful spring outing organized by our school.
Early in the morning, we set off for a nearby scenic spot where we were greeted by fresh air and blooming flowers. We participated in various outdoor games, like tug-of-war and relay races, which brought us closer together. After that, some students took a leisurely walk to admire the natural beauty while others flew kites high in the sky.
This activity not only allowed us to get close to nature and relax from heavy study, but also strengthened the friendship between teachers and students.

Born and raised in California, Kenneth’s world was shaped by the state’s sunshine, its beaches, and the friends he’d kept since kindergarten (幼儿园). At 16, however, life took a big turn. His parents found new jobs in Ohio, forcing the whole family to move there. This wasn’t an easy choice — it was tough to leave behind every familiar thing he cared about.
Along with the move, a new school was waiting for Kenneth. Every time he thought about saying goodbye to his old school, a sense of sadness came over him. The changes ahead — like the new city, the new school, and the strangers he’d soon meet — filled him with fear. He had no idea if he’d be able to fit in, or if loneliness would find him once he got there.
Following a long cross-country journey, the family finally arrived in Ohio and settled down. When the day came for him to start at his new school, Kenneth’s mind swarmed with worries. What if the other students were unfriendly — even cold? And what if he couldn’t make a single friend there?
The next morning, Kenneth was driven to school by his parents. The car stopped at the big brick building, and his heart beat fast. He hugged his mom and dad, took a deep breath, and got out. He anxiously walked toward the school gate with every step. It felt like he was stepping into a new world.
A friendly school secretary went to greet Kenneth when he entered. Noticing how nervous and shy he looked, she decided to start by showing him around the school yard. She led him past a modern computer lab, a science lab, and a gym with a basketball court — there, Kenneth imagined trying out for the school team. His mood lifted a little. Kenneth began to think the school was nice, and he started feeling a little better.
Finally, they arrived at the teaching building and walked toward Kenneth’s new classroom, and Kenneth’s heart started to race again. The school secretary took him to the door with an encouraging smile.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;

As the days went by, Kenneth realized his earlier worries were unnecessary._
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With a deep breath, Kenneth entered the classroom. He noticed every pair of eyes turned to him — for a second, the room fell quiet, and he could feel his cheeks growing warm. He tried to calm down, knowing he needed to introduce himself. Even though his voice trembled, he struggled through a short explanation of who he was. When his introduction ended, the class burst into warm claps and cheers. Their happiness at his arrival was both a surprise and a relief for Kenneth. He became a bit less nervous, and started to think he might actually make friends here.
As the days went by, Kenneth realized his earlier worries were unnecessary. The classes were interesting, and the teachers were always ready to help. During breaks, kind classmates crowded around him — they talked about what they loved, and had fun together. After school, some students asked him to play basketball in the school gym. Kenneth saw that change wasn’t always bad. It was scary at first, but it had brought him new experiences and friendships. He also learned something else: he was stronger than he thought, and he could get used to new situations.

A.brought back B.took away C.cut off D.depended on
26.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.The long history of paper cutting.

How to Manage Time for Tests
Timed tests can be kind of tiring, but if you manage your time wisely, you’ll be able to get the best score possible, even if you don’t have time to answer every question. 36 .

Go back and work on the hardest questions.
Once you’ve taken care of all of the questions you feel confident about, go back to finish the hard questions you skipped (跳过) the first time. 39 . At the very end of the test, if you still have time, you can look back over the hardest questions that you’re not sure about.
Practice with timed tests.
Ask your teacher ahead of time if there are any practice tests that would be helpful. Then, work through the practice test exactly how you’d take an exam during class — don’t use your notes, and set a timer. 40 .
You’ve studied, you’ve practiced, you’ve read through the test, you’ve budgeted your time, so there is no reason to rush.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;

C.The writer hopes to be an inheritor of paper cutting.

A.Do the easiest questions first.
B.Take your time once you get started.
C.That way, you’ll know what to expect.
D.If you really feel hard, skip to the next question.
E.The following tips may help you make the most of your exam time.
F.This can help you feel more comfortable working under a deadline
G.As you’re doing this, pay attention to the questions you feel confident.
