Lu You is celebrated as one of China’s most famous patriotic (爱国) poets. In fact, he also played many other different roles in his times. It is true that Lu You is not only a great poet but also a man full of love for life.
He lived during the Southern Song Dynasty. Experts find it amazing that about 9,300 of his poems have survived to this day, making his collection one of the largest in China.

Part 1: Read and Explore
Chen-Ning Yang was a famous physicist and a Nobel Prize winner. Sadly, he passed away in Beijing on October 18th, 2025, at the age of 103. He was an important person and helped the development of science in China.
Yang was born in Hefei, Anhui. He studied hard and later went to the United States to learn more about physics. In 1957, he won the Nobel Prize with his friend TD Lee for their new ideas in science, which made the world look at Chinese scientists in a new way.
What made Yang special was his deep love for China. In 1971, he was one of the Chinese scientists who were studying abroad and later returned to China. He really wanted to help his home country. He often came back to give speeches at universities and told young students, “China needs good scientists.” Yang did many things for China. He helped Tsinghua University build a research center for physics. He also started a prize for young scientists in Asia to encourage them to work hard. Many Chinese students consider him to be a true hero.
Yang was also famous around the world. He wrote many important papers and got special degrees from top universities. But he always said, “My heart is in China.” His love for his country was clear to all. His spirit will always live in the hearts of Chinese people.

Chen-Ning Yang was a famous physicist and a Nobel Prize winner. Sadly, he passed away in Beijing on October 18th, 2025, at the age of 103. He was an important person and helped the development of science in China.
Yang was born in Hefei, Anhui. He studied hard and later went to the United States to learn more about physics. In 1957, he won the Nobel Prize with his friend TD Lee for their new ideas in science, which made the world look at Chinese scientists in a new way.
What made Yang special was his deep love for China. In 1971, he was one of the Chinese scientists who were studying abroad and later returned to China. He really wanted to help his home country. He often came back to give speeches at universities and told young students, “China needs good scientists.” Yang did many things for China. He helped Tsinghua University build a research center for physics. He also started a prize for young scientists in Asia to encourage them to work hard. Many Chinese students consider him to be a true hero.
Yang was also famous around the world. He wrote many important papers and got special degrees from top universities. But he always said, “My heart is in China.” His love for his country was clear to all. His spirit will always live in the hearts of Chinese people.
