1. Write down the word that matches each definition. Make a sentence with each word.

Suggested answers to the above questions:
1) It is an advertisement. It talks about Thailand’s iconic attractions, such as its islands, beaches, activities, and elephants.
2) Islands with long sandy beaches and clear blue water, diving, kayaking, rock climbing, Chiang Mai, and elephants (the national animal and proud icon of Thailand).
3) The purpose is to persuade tourists to visit Thailand. We know this because it uses positive descriptions (“premier holiday destination,” “amazing selection,” “proud icon”), lists attractive activities, and subtly warns about peak season while still encouraging travel.
4) Yes, it attracts me. The islands attract me most because I love clear blue water and beach activities like kayaking and diving. The idea of escaping to a sandy beach away from crowded cities sounds very relaxing.
5) The last sentence (“Visitors can see these amazing creatures… and also sponsor an elephant to preserve its health and liberty”) makes me think about responsible tourism. It shows that we can enjoy wildlife without harming it, and that sponsoring animals is a meaningful way to help protect endangered species.
6) Limit the number of visitors during peak seasons, charge entrance fees that go directly to conservation, educate tourists on how to behave responsibly, create protected areas (like the elephant parks mentioned), promote eco-friendly activities and accommodations, use part of tourism income to fund preservation projects, and ….
