Cappadocia, Turkey Designated a World Heritage Site in 1985, Cappadocia is a place of flowing rock formations and stone-capped chimneys (狭缝). Consider taking one of the many hiking trails to get up close. Nearby, in the village of Uchisar are the ancient cave homes built by the people of the Bronze Age. Borobudur, Indonesia Borobudur is one of Indonesia’s most famous landmarks, included in the list of World Heritage Sites in 1991. Located on the island of Java, this massive temple complex was constructed in the 700s, but two to three hundred years later, it was abandoned, possibly due to volcanic eruptions in the area, and went relatively undisturbed for centuries. The site was uncovered in the 1800s and later restored. Mesa Verde, U.S.A. Mesa Verde is home to some of the most well-preserved Indian ruins in North America. It has been on the list of World Heritage Sites since 1978. The most impressive sites are the cliff dwellings (住所), where the Ancestral Puebloans lived between the 12th century and the late 13th century. You can drive up to the top of the mesa to see pit houses and other ruins. Petra, Jordan Inscribed into the list of World Heritage Sites in 1985, this ancient capital city of the Nabataeans is a stone city with dwellings carved into sandstone walls. It has roots that trace back to as early as the 4th or 5th century B.C. Discovered in the early 1800s, it has been referred to as “the rose city” for the color of the rock. Situated in a mountainous area with limited access, it held a strategic position on the trade route in the region. Today, Petra is the most important tourist attraction in Jordan. 1. Which of the following appeared on the list of World Heritage Sites first? A. Cappadocia, Turkey. B. Borobudur, Indonesia. C. Mesa Verde, U.S.A. D. Petra, Jordan. 2. What can you enjoy in Cappadocia, Turkey? A. Cave homes. B. Temple complexes. C. Cliff dwellings. D. Rose-colored rocks. 3. What made Petra stand out in history? A. Its natural resources. B. Today, Petra is the most important tourist attraction in Jordan.(它位于山区,通道有限,在该地区的贸易路线上占有战略地位。 B。 B For many, finding an unattended wallet filled with 400 in cash would be a source of temptation (诱惑). But the urge would no doubt be greater if you were living on the streets with little food and money. All of this makes the actions of the homeless Tom Smith even more remarkable. After spotting a wallet on the front seat inside a parked car with its window down, he stood guard in the rain for about two hours waiting for the owner to return. After hours in the cold and wet, he reached inside and pulled the wallet out hoping to find some ID so he could contact the driver, only to discover it contained 400 in notes, with another 50 in spare change beside it. He then took the wallet to a nearby police station. When the car’s owner John Anderson and his colleague Carol Lawrence returned back, they were shocked to find two policemen standing next to it. The policemen told them what Mr. Smith did and that the wallet was safe. The pair were later able to thank Mr. Smith for his kindness. Mr. Anderson said: “I couldn’t believe that the guy never took a penny. To think he is sleeping on the streets tonight when he could have stolen the money and paid for a place to stay in. This guy has nothing and yet he didn’t take the wallet for himself; he thought about others instead. It’s unbelievable. It just proves there are honest guys out there.” Mr. Smith’s act drew much of the public’s attention and won praise from social media users after Mr. Anderson posted the story on Facebook. Now Mr. Anderson has set up an online campaign to raise money for Mr. Smith and other homeless people in the area, which by yesterday had received 8,000. “People have been approaching him in the street; he’s had job offers and all sorts,” Mr. Anderson commented. 4. What can we learn from the passage? A. Tom Smith might later get a job offered by kind people. B. Tom Smith received 8,000 from the owner of the wallet. C. The police found the owner of the wallet through an ID card. D. John and his colleague thanked Tom Smith later face to face. 5. Mr. Anderson’s words tell us that ________. A. Tom Smith was always thinking of others B. Tom Smith took some pennies from the wallet C. usually the homeless are greedy for money D. sometimes he didn’t have faith in others 6. Which words can best describe Tom Smith? A. Generous and considerate. B. Kind and honest. C. Respectful and determined. D. Reliable and stubborn. 7. What does Tom Smith’s example show? A. Great minds think alike. B. Patience is the best remedy. C. Reap what you have sown. D. Fortune favors the bold. A 5. D 6. B 7. 根据最后一段中““People have been approaching him in the street; he’s had job offers and all sorts,” Mr. Anderson commented. It just proves there are honest guys out there.” 根据第四段“He then took the wallet to a nearby police station. When the car’s owner John Anderson and his colleague Carol Lawrence returned back, they were shocked to find two policemen standing next to it. The policemen told them what Mr. Smith did and that the wallet was safe. 可知,他拾金不昧,很善良;再结合第六段中“This guy has nothing and yet he didn’t take the wallet for himself; he thought about others instead. C。 C We know sleep quality is important for good health, that adolescence (青少年时期) is an important time for brain development, and that teens don’t always get a huge amount of sleep — and new research gives us some fresh understanding of how that all fits together. Researchers used data from 3,222 adolescents aged 9 to 14. They divided them into three groups based on sleep habits: the worst (averaging 7 hours and 10 minutes per night), the best (7 hours and 25 minutes), and those in between (7 hours and 21 minutes). While there wasn’t much difference between these groups in terms of academic achievement, the best sleepers showed noticeable improvements in cognitive (认知的) tests for reading, problem solving, and focus, compared to the worst sleepers. “Even though the differences in the amount of sleep that each group got were relatively small, at just over a quarter-of-an-hour between the best and worst sleepers, we could still see differences in brain structure and activity and in how well they did at tasks,” says clinical neuropsychologist Barbara Sahakian from the University of Cambridge. “This shows us just how important it is to have a good night’s sleep at this important stage in life.” The group of young people who slept the longest per night was also observed to have the largest brain volumes, the lowest heart rates, and the highest levels of brain connectivity, compared to the other groups. Worryingly, 39% of the young people had the poorest sleep data, 24% were in the middle group, and 37% had the best sleep scores. The research can’t prove cause and effect between sleep and brain function, but together with other studies, it shows that young brains need sleep protection. Psychologist Qing Ma said there are studies supporting the idea that better sleep may lead to better brain function and test performance. This study reminds teens and parents to reduce time on mobile devices. Regular good sleep helps us function properly, yet we know little about adolescent sleep despite its importance. 8. What does the research aim to do? A. Measure heart rate differences in teenagers. B. Analyze the effects of sleep habits on good health. C. Investigate sleep-brain relationships in adolescents. D. Compare academic achievements among adolescents. 9. What can be inferred about the “best sleepers” from Paragraph 2? A. They had the lowest heart rates. B. They performed better in cognition. C. They had better academic performance. D. They spent significantly more time sleeping. 10. Why are the percentages listed in Paragraph 3? A. To compare sleep habits. B. To draw attention to the sleep problem. C. To explain the study’s sample size. D. To challenge previous research findings. 11. What does the author imply in the last paragraph? A. Longer sleep betters academic achievement. B. Sleep habits are well-understood in current research. C. Protecting sleep during adolescence may require practical changes. D. Reducing screen time is likely unnecessary to improve sleep quality. C 9. B 10. B 11. 根据第一段“We know sleep quality is important for good health, that adolescence (青少年时期) is an important time for brain development, and that teens don’t always get a huge amount of sleep — and new research gives us some fresh understanding of how that all fits together.(我们知道睡眠质量对健康很重要,青少年时期是大脑发育的重要时期,而且青少年并不总是能获得充足的睡眠——新的研究让我们对这一切如何相互关联有了新的认识)”可知,这项研究的目的是调查青少年睡眠和大脑之间的关系。 根据第二段中“While there wasn’t much difference between these groups in terms of academic achievement, the best sleepers showed noticeable improvements in cognitive (认知的) tests for reading, problem solving, and focus, compared to the worst sleepers.(虽然这些组在学业成绩方面没有太大差异,但与睡眠最差的组相比,睡眠最好的组在阅读、解决问题和注意力集中的认知测试中表现出明显的进步)”可知,“睡眠最好的人”在认知方面表现更好。 根据第三段中“Worryingly, 39% of the young people had the poorest sleep data, 24% were in the middle group, and 37% had the best sleep scores.(令人担忧的是,39%的年轻人睡眠数据最差,24%处于中间组,37%的人睡眠得分最好)”可知,这些百分比说明青少年睡眠情况令人担忧,所以列举百分比是为了引起人们对青少年睡眠问题的关注。 根据最后一段中“This study reminds teens and parents to reduce time on mobile devices. Regular good sleep helps us function properly, yet we know little about adolescent sleep despite its importance.(这项研究提醒青少年和家长减少使用移动设备的时间。 D Some studies estimate that by 2025, about 35.7 million Americans or 22% of the workforce will be remote workers. Now more people are choosing to welcome a location-independent, technology-enabled lifestyle that allows them to travel and work remotely. They are called digital nomads (数字游民), and the trend is becoming more and more widespread. The growing popularity of this location-independent lifestyle has stimulated an interest in digital nomad visas. As a result, countries are introducing visa options to lure foreigners for extended stays. For example, Indonesia announced that the country is developing a new visa that would be valid for five years — longer than any other digital nomad visa currently available. The emergence of digital nomad visas signifies a progressive response to the rising demand for this new lifestyle. Meanwhile, the conventional image of digital nomads is undergoing a transformation. Digital nomads used to be thought of as twenty-somethings backpacking from hostel (旅舍) to hostel, looking for anywhere they could plug in their laptop. But flexible work and homeschooling have helped introduce a new type of digital nomad that wants to see the world and create lasting memories with their families. It’s called the “anywhere worker”. Most anywhere workers can be found in high-tech jobs, with 61% working full-time. Almost half of people in this category are married, and, unlike the typical digital nomad, 70% are parents who take their families with them. Consistent with the changing image of digital nomads, there is also a shift from valuing possessions to focusing on experiences. Millennials (千禧一代), in particular, are fueling this trend. Rather than spend money on expensive watches or luxury cars, younger generations prefer to invest in experiences like concerts, rock climbing and traveling. According to one study, more than three in four Millennials would rather spend their hard-earned money on a thrilling experience or event over buying a product. As remote work opportunities increase, the trend of living a digital nomadic lifestyle is expected to continue growing, allowing more individuals to pursue their dream lifestyles. 12. What makes remote work possible? A. The rise of digital nomads. B. The availability of digital nomad visas. C. The rapid development of advanced technology. D. The increased requirement for work-life balance. 13. What does the underlined word “lure” mean in Paragraph 2? A. Guide. B. Attract. C. Request. D. Entertain. 14. What do most “anywhere workers” value nowadays? A. Time spent with families. B. Regular working hours. C. Quality homeschooling. D. Jobs in high-tech companies. 15. What is Paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The shopping habits of Millennials. B. The analysis of Millennials’ image. C. The changing values of digital nomads. D. The benefits of a digital nomadic lifestyle. C 13. B 14. A 15. 根据第一段“Now more people are choosing to welcome a location-independent, technology-enabled lifestyle that allows them to travel and work remotely.(现在越来越多人选择一种不受地点限制、由技术支撑的生活方式,能够边旅行边远程工作。)” 根据第二段“As a result, countries are introducing visa options to lure foreigners for extended stays. For example, Indonesia announced that the country is developing a new visa that would be valid for five years — longer than any other digital nomad visa currently available.(因此,许多国家纷纷推出签证政策,以lure外国人长期居留。 根据第三段“But flexible work and homeschooling have helped introduce a new type of digital nomad that wants to see the world and create lasting memories with their families. It’s called the “anywhere worker”. Most anywhere workers can be found in high-tech jobs, with 61% working full-time. Almost half of people in this category are married, and, unlike the typical digital nomad, 70% are parents who take their families with them.(但灵活办公与居家教学催生了新型数字游民—— 他们想环游世界,并与家人创造珍贵回忆。 故选A项。 根据第四段“Consistent with the changing image of digital nomads, there is also a shift from valuing possessions to focusing on experiences. Millennials (千禧一代), in particular, are fueling this trend. Rather than spend money on expensive watches or luxury cars, younger generations prefer to invest in experiences like concerts, rock climbing and traveling. According to one study, more than three in four Millennials would rather spend their hard-earned money on a thrilling experience or event over buying a product.(与数字游民形象的转变相一致,人们的价值观也从看重物质财富转向注重体验。 Problems between parents and children are common and timeless. We’re going to miss the movie!” Sarah shouted at her best friend, Emily, who was still looking for her wallet. The two had planned to see a movie together, but Emily’s frequent lateness was driving Sarah crazy. “I’m sorry, I just can’t find it,” Emily replied, her voice shaking. As they finally rushed out of the house, Sarah continued to complain. “This always happens. I’m tired of waiting for you. I plan everything, and you ruin it!” Emily remained silent, her eyes fixed on the ground. When they arrived at the cinema, it was already ten minutes after the movie had started. “See? We missed the beginning because of you,” Sarah said angrily. Emily bought the tickets without a word. During the movie, Sarah couldn’t focus. She noticed Emily was sitting quietly, looking down. Sarah’s anger began to fade, and she started to feel a bit guilty. After the movie ended, they walked out of the cinema. Sarah realized Emily was acting strange. Usually, she would be chatting non-stop, but now she seemed lost in thought. “Hey, are you okay?” Sarah asked, a little worried. Emily looked up, her eyes red. “I’m really sorry about today. It’s just that…my mom’s been sick, and I’ve been under so much stress. I was looking for the money she gave me to buy some medicine.” Sarah was shocked. She had been so busy being angry about being late that she hadn’t even noticed something was wrong with Emily. At that moment, a wave of regret washed over Sarah. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From that day on, Sarah changed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 At that moment, a wave of regret washed over Sarah. She reached out and gently held Emily’s hand. “I’m the one who should be sorry,” she said sincerely. “I was so caught up in my own feelings that I didn’t stop to think about what you were going through. How’s your mom now?” Emily’s eyes filled with tears again, but this time they were tears of relief. She shared the details of her mother’s condition, and Sarah listened attentively, offering words of comfort. Sarah then suggested they go to the pharmacy together to buy the medicine. From that day on, Sarah changed. Whenever she felt annoyed or impatient, she would think of that day and try to see things from the other person’s perspective. She realized that everyone was fighting their own battles, and a little understanding could make a big difference. When Emily was late again, instead of getting angry, Sarah would ask if everything was okay. Their friendship became stronger than ever, built on a foundation of mutual understanding and empathy. 3.词汇激活 行为类 ① 提供:offer/provide ② 意识到:realize/be aware of ③ 建议:suggest/advise 情绪类 ① 温柔地:gently/softly ②宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】【高分句型 1】“I’m the one who should be sorry,” she said sincerely.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 【高分句型 2】Whenever she felt annoyed or impatient, she would think of that day and try to see things from the other person’s perspective.(运用了whenever引导的时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 四川省达川中学高2027届2026年春季期中考试 英 语 试 题 (满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1、本试卷满分为:150分,考试时间为:120分钟. 2、答卷前,考生务必将自己的姓名、准考证号填写在答题卡上。 1. What is the man going to do next? C. Great minds think alike. B. Patience is the best remedy. C. Reap what you have sown. D. Fortune favors the bold. C We know sleep quality is important for good health, that adolescence (青少年时期) is an important time for brain development, and that teens don’t always get a huge amount of sleep — and new research gives us some fresh understanding of how that all fits together. D Some studies estimate that by 2025, about 35.7 million Americans or 22% of the workforce will be remote workers.
