They can hurt or they can heal (治愈). And we all have the power to_____40_____what to say. I am going to do that very carefully from now on. 31. A. One B. Two C. Three D. Four 32. A. thinking about B. caring about C. worrying about D. talking about 33. A. common B. last C. interesting D. polite 34. A. strict B. happy C. pleased D. angry 35. A. letter B. diary C. note D. email 36. A. me B. them C. her D. him 37. A. except B. besides C. towards D. beside 38. A. possibly B. finally C. suddenly D. sadly 39. A. how B. why C. what D. that 40. A. keep B. write C. understand D. choose 【答案】31. B 32. A 33. B 34. D 35. C 36. D 37. A 38. B 39. C 40. A. One 一;B. Two二;C. Three 三;D. A. thinking about思考;B. caring about关心;C. worrying about担心;D. talking about谈论。根据语境…ways to make them sorry,应该是想出让他们道歉的方法,故答案选A。 A. common普通的;B. last最后的;C. interesting有趣的;D. polite有礼貌的。 Leave me alone!" A. strict严厉的;B. happy高兴的;C. pleased高兴的;D. angry生气的。 I was in a terrible mood,可知他本来是跟朋友生气的,be angry with对… A. letter书信;B. diary日记;C. note 便条;D. email电子邮件。考查名词词义辨析,根据下句 “Dad has had an accident. Please meet us at Highland Park Hospital.” A. me我;B. them 他们;C. her她;D. him他。 Your father told the driver,可知此处指代的是爸爸,指爸爸告诉司机让他自己呆着,即别管他,所以用him,答案选D。 A. except除…… My mother may have said more, but I didn't hear可知作者没有听妈妈说话,结合Leave me alone. How much had I hurt him when I shouted at him earlier that day? A. possibly可能地;B. finally最后;C. suddenly突然地; D. sadly悲伤地。 A. how怎么样;B. why为什么;C. what什么;D. that那个。本句中,I mean_____9_____I said to you that day. You know, that morning.所填单词应该作为said的宾语,说的什么内容,即what,后跟宾语从句。故答案选C。 【40题详解】 句意:我们都有权选择该说些什么。A. keep保持;B. write写;C. understand理解;D. choose选择。根据上文My English teacher once told me that words have great power. They can hurt or they can heal(治愈),可知选择什么样的话语也是很重要的,它可以伤害你也可以治愈你,所以此处应是指我们有权力选择自己所说的话,故用动词choose,答案选B。 第二节 短文填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或填入括号内单词的正确形式。 Giraffes are very tall animals. For this reason, you should always learn the laws before you decide to drive in a foreign country. In the U. S., people in Alaska may obtain a learner’s permit at least fourteen years old to drive. If you want to know the minimum (最小的) driving age in most countries, the answer is eighteen. It may also surprise you to learn that not every country allows people to drive, although most of them do. For example, until 2018, women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, but now they can. Driving on the right or left side of the road is also different. In Great Britain, Cyprus, Australia, India, and Malaysia, people drive on the left. However, in the U. S., Mexico, France, and Canada, people are required to drive on the right. In fact, one country can have different driving rules for different areas. People in Hong Kong drive on the left, while drivers in other parts of China use the right side of the road. Other different driving laws between countries include those about using mobile phones. In Japan, using any kind of mobile phones is illegal (违法的), although hands-free devices are allowed; even if you do not need to hold the phone with your hands. However, in Argentina and Australia, drivers are allowed to talk on their mobile phones if they do not use their hands. You might also find it interesting to learn that some countries have very unusual laws. For example, in Cyprus, it is against the law to eat or drink anything while driving. 59. What can we know about driving from the passage? A. It is fun to drive in Britain in the afternoon. B. Until 2018,Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. C. In Cyprus, you may make a phone call while driving. D. It’s against laws for an Australian driver to use a mobile. 60. What does the underlined word “those” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A. Drivers. B. Mobile phones. C. Driving laws. D. Countries. 61. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Driving in all countries shares a common purpose. B. Countries have different ways to make laws on driving. C. There are differences in laws about driving among countries. D. People in different countries drive on different sides of the road. 【答案】59. B 60. C 61. C 【解析】 【导语】本文主要介绍了世界各国、各地区之间不同的驾驶相关法律法规。 【59题详解】 第二段指出“until 2018, women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia”,B选项表述与原文完全一致;A选项原文未提及;第四段、第五段内容可证明 C、D选项表述错误。 【60题详解】 第四段原文“Other different driving laws between countries include those about using mobile phones”,本句核心主语为driving laws, those用来指代前文提到的driving laws。 【61题详解】 全文开篇点明“the rules can be quite different between nations and areas”,后文从驾驶年龄、行驶车道、手机使用、特殊奇葩法规等多个角度,介绍各国驾驶法律的差异。C选项精准概括全文主旨;A选项偏离文意,B、D选项仅为局部细节。 C Technology is everywhere. We see it any place we go and, in fact, almost all of us carry some piece of technology with us every time we leave the house. What I always forget, though, is just how useful and powerful technology can be when we want to help others. There is not a single room in my house that does not have some electronic devices (设备) lying around in it. Whenever I am at home, I am almost always using at least one electronic device. If you walked into my living room on any given day, you would find that, first, I have the television on. At the same time, I usually have my laptop resting on my knee, or I will be using my mobile phone. Even when I’m not at home I am always using my phone, and at work or in cafés, I sit down and connect to the local wireless network on my laptop. I must say that I waste a lot of time on the computer and the time I spend on it could be much better spent if I were to take up a little online volunteering. The technology we carry about everywhere can have a great power to do good for the world and to help others and recently I discovered just how much online volunteering there is to do in the world. From using your language skills to do translations, to developing and managing projects and helping with IT work, there is so much that so many people can do to help people in their own countries and across the world. The United Nations, in fact, has a huge page with “Volunteers Recruited” on its website. This work can support the poor and help charities who cannot pay for staff. Many organizations only require you to work an hour a week—some even less. And the support provided by online volunteers can really help make a difference to those in need. 62. From Paragraph 2, we can know that the writer . A. uses technology a lot B. works in a café C. is a computer engineer D. likes modern music 63. The underlined word “Recruited” in Paragraph 4 means “________”. A. Ordered B. Wanted C. Visited D. Warned 64. In the writer’s opinion, people should spend more time ________ with technology. A. working on computer programs B. keeping the Internet safe C. inventing electronic products D. helping people in need 65. What can be the best title for the passage? A. Website Design B. Internet Organizations C. Online Volunteering D. Online Translation 【答案】62. A 63. B 64. D 65. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 文章主要讲述了作者从日常大量使用科技产品,到发现科技可以用来做在线志愿服务,并认识到这种服务能帮助他人、改变世界的过程。 【62题详解】 根据第二段中的“There is not a single room in my house that does not have some electronic devices (设备) lying around in it.  Whenever I am at home, I am almost always using at least one electronic device.”可知,作者家中到处是电子设备,而且他几乎总在使用至少一种设备,因此可以推断作者大量使用科技产品。 【63题详解】 根据第四段中的“there is so much that so many people can do to help”和 “The United Nations, in fact, has a huge page with ‘Volunteers Recruited’ on its website.”可知,联合国在网站上发布信息,希望征集志愿者。Recruited在此意为“招募/征募”,与Wanted(招聘/需要)意思最接近。 【64题详解】 根据第三段中的“the time I spend on it could be much better spent if I were to take up a little online volunteering”和第五段中的“And the support provided by online volunteers can really help make a difference to those in need.”可知,作者认为花在科技上的时间应该更多地用于在线志愿服务,去帮助有需要的人。因此可以推断作者主张用科技帮助他人。 【65题详解】 根据第四段中的“how much online volunteering there is to do in the world”和第五段中的“online volunteers can really help make a difference to those in need”可知,全文核心内容是介绍和倡导在线志愿服务。前两段讲科技使用是引子,后三段重点都在讨论 online volunteering。故“Online Volunteering”作为标题最合适。 D One day, while I was waiting for my father, I saw a little boy, around two years old, running freely on the grass as his mother watched from a short distance. The boy had a big smile on his face as if he had just been set free from some sort of prison (监狱). The boy would then fall to the grass, get up, without looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could, again, still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened. At that moment, I thought to myself, “why aren’t most adults this way?” Most adults, when they fall down, make a big deal out of it and don’t even make a second attempt. They would be so embarrassed that they would not try again if someone saw them fall. Or, because they fall, they would find a good excuse for themselves that they’re not fit for it. They would end up being too afraid to attempt again for fear of failure (失败). However, with kids, when they fall down, they don’t consider their falling down as a failure, instead, they treat it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed. The answer must be that they have not connected “falling down” with the word “failure”. What’s more, they probably think to themselves that it’s quite okay to fall down and that it’s not wrong to do so. In other words, they allow themselves to make mistakes, so they remain energetic. I was deeply impressed by the boy’s persistence (坚持不懈) and the manner in which he did. 66. What did the little boy do when he fell down? A. He cried and lay on the grass. B. He asked his mother for help. C. He got up and went on running. D. He got up and stood there crying. 67. In the writer’s opinion, what might the little boy regard his falling down as? A. A failure. B. A joke. C. An interesting game. D. A learning experience. 68. In the writer’s opinion, why can’t many adults succeed? A. Because they are afraid of being embarrassed. B. Because they can’t find a good excuse. C. Because once they fail, they won’t attempt again. D. Because they don’t allow themselves to make mistakes. 69. The underlined word “attempt” in Paragraph 2 means ________. A. try B. give up C. face D. doubt 70. What does the writer want to tell us? A. Practice makes perfect. B. Failure is the mother of success. C. All roads lead to Rome. D. Each coin has two sides. 【答案】66. C 67. D 68. C 69. A 70. B 【解析】 【导语】本文作者通过观察一个小男孩摔倒后爬起来继续奔跑的行为,对比成年人面对失败的态度,阐述了不应因害怕失败而放弃尝试的道理。 【66题详解】 第一段“The boy would then fall to the grass, get up, without looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could, again”直接说明小男孩摔倒后会站起来继续跑。 【67题详解】 第三段“with kids, when they fall down, they don’t consider their falling down as a failure, instead, they treat it as a learning experience.”表明孩子会把摔倒当作学习的经历。 【68题详解】 第二段“Most adults, when they fall down, make a big deal out of it and don’t even make a second attempt...they would not try again if someone saw them fall.”说明成年人失败后不会再尝试,对应选项C“一旦失败,他们就不会再尝试了”。 【69题详解】 第二段“don’t even make a second attempt”与后文“try again”对应,可推出attempt意为“尝试”,对应选项A“try”。 【70题详解】 全文通过对比孩子和成年人面对失败的态度,传递了“失败是成功之母”的道理,对应选项B。 第二节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。 In early March, temperatures warm up and it’s time to do spring cleaning. This special cleaning activity helps people welcome the new season with a fresh and organized living space. Spring cleaning has been a tradition for centuries in China. After long winter months, people want to clean their homes when the weather turns warm. In spring, the humidity (湿度) can be high, and a deep cleaning helps prevent mold (霉菌) growth and keeps homes fresh. In Chinese culture, it’s also considered that doing spring cleaning can bring good luck. In western countries, spring cleaning also has a long history. In past centuries, houses were heated with wood or coal. Before electricity was widely used, people used oil lamps, so houses were full of dirt (尘). Cold weather also meant less airflow, which caused houses to smell bad. Warmer weather brought fresh air and a chance to wash away winter’s dirt and smell. In fact, spring cleaning may have more than these. A psychologist (心理学家) reports that cleaning our homes can be good for our brains and bodies. Cleaning produces a result that we not only see but also feel. We will feel relaxed while doing something meaningful like sweeping the floor. And when our homes are clean and organized, we feel comfortable. For families, spring cleaning can make children a tidy study area to help them pay more attention to homework. Finding school things becomes easier for children when everything is organized. When families clean together, they share duties and create closer relationships. So, this spring, grab a cloth, wear a smile, and make your living space as fresh as spring. 71. When do people usually do spring cleaning? ___________________________________________________ 72. 59. Online Translation D One day, while I was waiting for my father, I saw a little boy, around two years old, running freely on the grass as his mother watched from a short distance.
