Did you know that birds can also get“road rage (路怒症)”? A research team fromAnglia Ruskin University
(ARU) in the UK visited the Galapagos Islands to do a study. They found that car noises make birds angry.
The Galapagos Islands are on the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean and are the home of a large number of
animals and plants.
The scientists studied a very common type of yellow warbler(黄莺) in the area. The places that they looked at were either 50 or 100 meters away from the road. In each location, scientists played recorded traffic noise to the
yellow warblers to see how they behaved.
They found that no matter how far the birds were from the road, they sang louder if the place was noisy. In
locations with more people, they even sang for a longer time.
What's more, the yellow warblers living 50 meters away from the road were loud and angry. For example, they got very close to the speaker and flew across it over and over again. Those 100 meters away from the noise, however, were quieter.
With more human activity, the number of cars on the Galapagos Islands has gone up in recent years. The birds often use songs to drive people and animals away, but if the traffic noise was louder than their singing, they became more aggressive(富于攻击性的), an ARUscientist told Science Daily.
The Galapagos Islands are best known for their many kinds of plants and animals. Many of them are not found anywhere else in the world. These islands are also important for another reason.Back in 1835,when Charles Darwin visited the islands, his discoveries on the island led to his theory of evolution by natural selection(自然选择进化论).

How do you describe the surface of one thing? Round? Square? Or smooth? You may have different answers. But we know that we can describe the earth's surface through landforms.A landform is a natural mixture of rock and soil found on the earth. Landforms come in different kinds of shapes and sizes. The whole mountains, small hills, plateaus, and plains are the four main kinds of landforms.A landform might be as large as a land or as small as a pool.
Landforms are made by some kinds of forces of nature. This
force could be wind, water or ice.And it usually takes a very longtime to form
different landforms. It could be hundreds or thousands of years or even longer. For example, you may see many valleys. It used to be a high hill, but with time going by, water and wind wear down high land into a plain and then create
valleys. Many landforms are formed by water. Both processes happen over a
long time, sometimes millions of years.
What are the differences between the landforms? Valleys are located between hills or with many high mountains around. And there is usually a river at the bottom of the valleys.A delta is another two
landforms created by water. Deltas can be found at the mouths of rivers. They are created when sand, soil, and rock mix
together. Hills and mountains are another two landforms. A hill is raised land. A mountain is usually higher with a top. Most mountains are like towers but a few of them are like tables which have flat tops.

One morning at Taishan Mountain in Shandong, a four-legged robot was climbing the challenging “Eighteen Bends”, It had a box on its back and was going up the 1,460-meter-long and 45-degree-inclined(倾斜的) path. While people were tired and out of breath, this clever robot moved easily around the crowds, kept its balance, and carried a 120 kg bag.
Used by a company under the local tourism group, this AI robot helps clean up tourist waste and carry things in the tourist attraction. With 8 million visitors every year, Taighan has 24,000 tons of waste. Cleaning it by hand is expensive and dangerous. A company worker said, “The robot can climb mountains and cross water while carrying things. It makes the work much easier and faster.”
Over the past few years, there has been a growing number of AI robots. In the robot market, human-like robots sell well, and they are getting more and more popular. Scientists say the market will grow a lot. By 2025, the sales of China’s human-like robots have reached 5.3 billion yuan. By 2029, it could be 75 billion yuan, which would be 32.7% of the world’s sales. The government is helping a lot. These robots are no longer just for fun but are becoming practical. Cities like Chongqing and Shenzhen are spending money on projects about AI that can interact(互动) with the real world.
AI robots are helping people in many ways. In Chongqing, a 70-year-old person who had a stroke(中风) could move again with the help of a wearable AI robot. His doctor said, “These robots can find out what people want to do by looking at how their joints(关节) move. They are changing how we help the old and disabled get better.”
AI robots are also reshaping the idea of toys and pets. For example, Sirius is a small robot dog. It can dance follow orders and move like a real dog. It’s very popular because it can interact with people. The small, smart, four-legged robot can even understand and answer people’s orders.
From cleaning up rubbish on mountains to being family pets, helping the old and being fun toys, AI robots are slowly becoming part of people’s lives. As one scientist said, this is not just about new technology. It’s about meeting people’s needs.

Flowers often carry deep meanings. In Australia, people use the purple poppy(虞美人)to remember a special
group—war animals.
Every year on February 24, many Australians wear a purple pop py to show their love for these animal heroes.
These animals fought and died with soldiers(士兵) in the past.

People often let pigeons be their eyes. They carried cameras to collect information. Donkeys and mules helped carry heavy things. During World War I,camels and horses helped the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps cross the desert and win the Battle of
Beersheba(贝尔谢巴战役) in 1917.
One of the most famous stories is about John Simpson Kirkpatrick. He was an English-born Australian soldier. In World War I, many soldiers were badly hurt. He used donkeys to carry them and saved their lives. IIis story became a special symbol of Australian friendship and courage(勇气).
Today, people can see more and more places in Australia to remember the service and sacrifice(牺牲) of war
