A
Have you heard of “AI self-study rooms”? It is a new business model in education, which has recently appeared in China. It is getting more and more attention, but people hold different opinions about it.
AI self-study rooms bring together AI learning tools, study monitors (监控) and a good learning environment. Students take online classes and do exercises with learning machines. At the same time, monitors help keep order. They also use AI to find students’ weak points and make personalized study plans for them.
A parent told Global Times that AI learning machines are more interactive than common online courses. They can analyze students’ learning and give them proper and challenging questions to reach their learning goals. “Now, students in the countryside can do virtual (虚拟的) biology experiments through AI self-study rooms. This was impossible before because of limited local resources,” said a teacher from Qinghai.
Some people praise AI self-study rooms for their advantages, but others think they are just for show. Some students say some AI learning machines are not smart enough. They cannot teach students in different ways and only give mechanical practice. Their updates are slow, and their fixed question banks often have mistakes, which may mislead students.
As for the price, it costs 200 yuan per hour on weekends and it is 20% off on weekdays. “We can’t afford this service. We have to think carefully about whether the price is worth the learning effect,” a parent from Jiangsu told Global Times.
“I believe AI is helpful to education. But as a new business, AI self-study rooms still face problems, such as poor integration (融合) and unbalanced quality. With continuous technology development, AI learning will become more important in the future,” said Professor Huang from the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences.
1.How does the writer introduce the topic?
A.By telling a story. B.By showing a fact.
C.By asking a question. D.By giving an example.
2.What can we learn about AI self-study rooms according to the passage?
A.Only AI learning tools can be used in the rooms.
B.Rural students can do more real experiments than before.
C.All the AI machines work very well and have no wrong questions.
D.Monitors can use AI to make personal study plans for students.
3.How much will you spend studying in AI self-study rooms for 2 hours on Friday?
A.160 yuan. B.240 yuan. C.320 yuan. D.400 yuan.
4.What is Professor Huang’s attitude toward AI learning?
A.He is against it. B.He is hopeful about it.
C.He doesn’t care about it. D.He doesn’t give his idea.
5.What is the best title of this passage?

Social media is more and more popular with children. This worries parents because they don’t want their children to face possible dangers online. (1)
Many parents believe that preventing (预防) problems is better than fixing them. So, they watch what their children do online to keep them safe. The problem is, many people don’t understand what “prevention” really means. Many people think monitoring (监视) is just about keeping kids away from bad websites or videos. (2) On the one hand, it’s impossible for parents to prevent children from watching all bad things completely. On the other hand, if children never face problems, they can’t learn to solve them on their own. The best way is to teach children what to do when they come across something bad online.
If parents choose to monitor their children’s online activities, they should do it in a smart way. (3) Then how? First, parents should let their children know that they’ll be watching their online activities. Second, have an open conversation and clearly explain how the monitoring will work. Third, be careful. It’s a fine line between keeping children safe and controlling them too much. Parents need to discuss things with their kids and listen to what they have to say.
So, parents should not just stop everything. (4) They should show children how to be safe online. This way, children can learn to use the Internet wisely.
1.Why are parents worried about children using social media?
A.Because it costs too much money.
B.Because children spend less time studying.
C.Because there might be online dangers.
D.Because it makes children dislike talking.
2.Where can we put the sentence “But this doesn’t work well in practice.”?
A.(1) B.(2) C.(3) D.(4)
3.How does the writer support the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.By listing numbers. B.By asking questions.
C.By telling stories. D.By giving suggestions.
4.What is the text mainly about?
A.Teaching children how to prevent problems.
B.Why social media has become more and more popular.
C.How parents can properly deal with children’s online safety.
D.The importance of social media for children.
根据“This worries parents because they don’t want their children to face possible dangers online.”

On the other hand, if children never face problems, they can’t learn to solve them on their own.” “But this doesn’t work well in practice.”
根据“First, parents should let their children know…Second, have an open conversation…Third, be careful.”

AI companies have developed chatbots that focus on health problems, and some of them have even passed medical exams that human doctors have to take. Many people are using AI chatbots to find out their mental problems and help them decide when to see a doctor. However, a new study shows that AI chatbots aren’t very useful when a real person is asking them for help with their health.
The study included nearly 1,300 people. Each was given made-up health problems. The people were divided into two groups. One group could ask the AI chatbots to find out their illness and say whether they should take care of themselves at home, see a doctor, or call an ambulance. The other group was allowed to use the Internet and Google searches to find out the same information. Real doctors then checked to see whether the people had found out what their “illness” was and what to do next.
The results of the study showed that the people who talked to the AI chatbots did the right thing less than half the time. “AI just isn’t ready to take on the role of a medical expert,” said Rebecca Payne, one of the authors of the study. She said it can be dangerous to get health information from AI programs that give wrong information and also fail to recognize when a person needs serious medical care. “We hope this work will help with the growth of safer and more useful AI systems,” said Andrew Bean, who led the study.
1.What are many people using AI chatbots to do according to the passage?
2.How many people took part in the study?
3.How did the researchers divide the people in the study?
4.What did the results of the study show about AI chatbots?
5.What do you think of using AI chatbots for health advice? Why?
1.To find out their mental problems and help them decide when to see a doctor. 2.Nearly 1,300 people. 3.The researchers divided the people into two groups: one used AI chatbots while the other used the Internet and Google searches. 4.The people who talked to the AI chatbots did the right thing less than half the time. 5.I think we should be careful with AI health advice. It’s not always correct, so we’d better ask a doctor when we feel ill.
1.首段直接陈述:“Many people are using AI chatbots to find out their mental problems and help them decide when to see a doctor.”,可直接提取信息作答。
3.第二段说明分组方式:“The people were divided into two groups.”,一组用AI,一组用网络搜索,可概括作答。
4.第三段展示研究结果:“the people who talked to the AI chatbots did the right thing less than half the time.”,直接提取作答。

With continuous technology development, AI learning will become more important in the future,” said Professor Huang from the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences.

Why?
