Passage 1
(2026·山西大同·一模)Matt, a seven-year-old boy, was interested after seeing the wooden box on the sidewalk. His friend Lisa told him that it was called “Little Library”. People built boxes and put books in them. Other people would take books to read and add books they had already read.
The idea excited Matt and he decided to make his own so that kids could trade books. But Lisa worried that kids might not see it. Matt wanted to have a try, anyway. Lisa agreed and went for tools, while Matt ran to collect books.
With the help of Matt’s father, they built a wooden box. They put a door on it and placed their small library in front of the yard. Matt put two books in the box and said, “Now I just have to wait.”
Matt ran out three times that day to check. But each time, his books were untouched. The next days, Matt kept checking the box, but his books were still there.
“No kids saw it, and no one wants to trade books,” Matt said in a low voice.
The next two days, Matt gave up checking the box. Lisa noticed his low spirits and encouraged him to take a look in case someone decided to trade.

Passage 2
(2026·山西吕梁·一模)阅读下面语篇,根据其内容回答问题。
The Chinese Zodiac, also called shengxiao, is a cycle of 12 animals. They are in this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each year is represented (代表) by one animal. This tradition is very old and important in Chinese culture. People believe the animal of your birth year influences your personality.
No one knows for sure the history of the Chinese Zodiac. Some people think it is connected to ancient astronomy (天文). Others believe it started from people’s love for animals long ago. According to Tang Zhiqiang, a researcher, these animals were formed over a very long time. By the Eastern Han Dynasty, the list was almost the same as today’s. He says that most animals on the list, like the horse, the ox, and the rooster, are common in daily life and were important to ancient farmers.
There are two main ideas about when the zodiac year changes. One idea says it starts at the beginning of Spring. The other, more popular idea today, says the new animal year starts on the first day of the Spring Festival.
2026 is the Year of the Horse. The horse holds a special place in Chinese culture. It is a symbol of speed, energy, and success. Many good Chinese idioms are about horses, like “yimadangxian” and“madaochenggong”
Chart I
I love how each year gets a special animal in China! During the Spring Festival, I learned I was born in the Year of the Rabbit. It’s such a fun and meaningful tradition that makes the New Year feel alive with stories.
——Chris, the UK
In our office in Shanghai, we often talk about zodiac animals during birthdays. It’s a nice way to understand my Chinese co-workers (同事) better. The Chinese Zodiac is fun and meaningful and it’s a nice part of Chinese culture.
——Sophie, Australia
Chart II
1.What is the Chinese Zodiac?
2.According to Chart I, what does the horse represent?
3.Why was the researcher Tang Zhiqiang mentioned in the passage?
4.How do both Chris and Sophie feel about the Chinese Zodiac?
5.How do you like the Chinese Zodiac? What can we do to better spread our Chinese culture?
【答案】1.A cycle of 12 animals./ It is a cycle of 12 animals. 2.Speed, energy and success./ A symbol of speed, energy and success. 3.To show the Chinese Zodiac has a long history. 4.Fun and meaningful./ They both think it is fun and meaningful. 5.I think it is great. We can use the internet to tell interesting stories about Chinese traditions and culture and encourage more cultural exchanges with friends from other countries.
【导语】本文主要介绍了中国生肖的起源、顺序、年份更替的时间,以及生肖在当代文化中的意义,并引用了两位外国友人对生肖文化的看法。
1.第一段“The Chinese Zodiac, also called shengxiao, is a cycle of 12 animals”介绍了中国生肖是一个由12种动物组成的循环。
2.Chart I中“It is a symbol of speed, energy, and success”介绍了马代表着速度、能量和成功。
3.第二段“According to Tang Zhiqiang, a researcher, these animals were formed over a very long time. By the Eastern Han Dynasty, the list was almost the same as today’s”介绍了唐志强作为研究者,说明了生肖动物经过很长时间才形成,且在东汉时期就已基本定型,引用他是为了说明生肖文化历史悠久。
4.Chart II中Chris说“fun and meaningful tradition”,Sophie说“fun and meaningful and it’s a nice part of Chinese culture”,两人都认为生肖是有趣且有意义的。
Passage 3
(2026·山西晋城·一模).
If you study in a boarding school (寄宿学校) or a university, you will share a dorm with your roommates. A good relationship turns your dorm into a home. So, it’s important to have a great roommate. Some schools now use AI to pair up roommates. Students answer some questions about themselves, and AI helps them find a good match (匹配). What do you think about this? Here are some different ideas from four students.
Dong Kaihua
I think it’s helpful. It can match me with roommates who have similar living habits, like the same sleep time or cleaning habits. This reduces arguments and makes the dorm a friendlier place. Still, we can learn new things from people with different habits. So we should stay open-minded.
Song Ruiyi
It does have a lot of advantages, but AI cannot fully meet everyone’s needs. The most important thing is that it doesn’t really know how to get along with others. That’s exactly what we need to learn by ourselves through communication. So, we should still stay open and be ready to accept different ideas.
Wang Ziling
It’s a good idea. AI can help find roommates who share similar daily routines and hobbies. But there are some problems. Some students may not answer questions honestly. Maybe they are just worried that they are different. Anyway, the best friendships come from communication and understanding.
Li Jiateng
I don’t think AI can help choose the best roommates for each student, as it can’t understand the real meaning of “a good match”. AI is just a tool, and sometimes it makes mistakes. Also, I believe we should have the chance to learn how to get along with different people in real life.
Maybe AI can help match similar habits, but it can’t replace learning to get along with different people. Real close relationships need us to connect with and understand each other.
1.What do some schools use AI to do now?
2.Why does Wang Ziling think some students may not answer questions honestly?
3.What do Song Ruiyi and Li Jiateng both think students need to learn?
4.Who agrees with this method?
5.If you study in a boarding school, do you agree to use AI to match roommates? Why?
【答案】1.(They use AI) to pair up roommates. 2.Because they’re just worried that they are different./Because they may be worried about being different. 3.How to get along with others./How to get along with different people (in real life). 4.Dong Kaihua. 5.【示例一】Yes, I do. Because it saves time and energy for students, allowing us to find suitable roommates quickly./…Because this can reduce arguments and create a friendlier environment./…Because AI can match roommates who have similar living habits.
【示例二】No, I don’t. Because facing differences is a valuable part of growing up, which helps us understand the real world./…Because AI can’t really know how to understand and communicate with different people./…Because AI cannot fully meet everyone’s needs.
【导语】本文是一篇议论文,讲述了在寄宿学校或大学里,一些学校现在使用人工智能来匹配室友,文章给出了四位同学对此的不同看法。
1.文中第一段明确提到“Some schools now use AI to pair up roommates.”,直接提取关键信息即可作答。
2.Wang Ziling的观点“Maybe they are just worried that they are different.”,可直接得出答案。
3.Song Ruiyi提到“what we need to learn by ourselves through communication”是与人相处,Li Jiateng认为“we should have the chance to learn how to get along with different people in real life”,二者核心观点一致,归纳总结作答。
Passage 4
(2026·山西太原·一模)请阅读下面语篇,根据其内容回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡相应的位置上。
Language skills mean the abilities to use a language effectively for communication. They include:◆Vocabulary ◆ Grammar
◆Listening ◆ Speaking
◆Reading ◆Writing
In our daily lives, we usually look for ways to improve our language skills which can open up new chances for us. Two popular activities that often come to mind are reading and watching TV. But here’s the question that many of us wonder about: which one is better for developing language skills? Let’s take a closer look at both sides.
Reading is better!◆When we read books, we come across plenty of words. We might learn words like “meadow” “brook” and “grove”. These words are not as commonly used in daily conversations or on TV. By reading, we can learn many new words.
◆Complex (复杂的) sentences are often used in books. When we read, we can see how these sentences are put together correctly. Reading helps us understand grammar rules better and learn how to use them in our own writing and speaking.
◆Reading requires us to focus on the words, understand the context, and think about the meaning. We have to put all the information together. This process improves our ability to focus and understand.
Watching TV is better!◆TV shows, especially sitcoms or documentaries, use real-life language. People talk in a natural way, with common expressions. This helps us learn how to speak more naturally.
◆Watching TV helps us improve our listening skills. We can hear different accents (口音) and pronunciations. Also, by learning from English speakers, we can improve our own pronunciation.
◆When we watch TV, we see the facial expressions, the body movements and the whole situation. All these together help us understand the language better. If someone says a word we don’t know, what we can see makes it easy to understand the meaning.
There are also other activities that can improve language skills, like playing language games, listening to music and so on. Do any of these activities sound interesting to you?
1.What are language skills?
2.Why can reading help us with grammar?
3.How can we learn to speak more naturally?
4.While we are watching TV, what makes it easy to understand a word?
5.Which way do you prefer to improve your language skills? How can it help you?
【答案】1.(They are) the abilities to use a language effectively for communication./… 2.Because when we read, we can see how complex sentences are put together correctly./ Because reading helps us understand grammar rules better and learn how to use them in our own writing and speaking./… 3.By watching TV (shows)./… 4.The facial expressions, the body movements, and the whole situation./ What we can see. 5.示例一: I prefer to read books./... When reading, I can go at my own speed and take as much time as I need to work things out, which helps me learn new language knowledge better./…In books, grammar rules are usually more strictly followed, and this helps me learn to use grammar correctly./... When I read books, I come across plenty of words./...
示例二: I like watching TV./... Watching TV is an interesting way to learn English effectively, as it uses both my sight and hearing./... I can improve my spoken English and listening skills by watching real-life scenes on TV./…I can learn how to speak more naturally./…
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要对比了“阅读”和“看电视”两种提升语言技能的方式,分别阐述了两者的优势,最后补充了其他提升语言技能的活动。
1.第一段开头“Language skills mean the abilities to use a language effectively for communication.”可知,原文直接定义了语言技能是“为了交流而有效使用语言的能力”,直接提取这句话即可。
2.阅读板块下第二点“Complex sentences are often used in books. When we read, we can see how these sentences are put together correctly. Reading helps us understand grammar rules better and learn how to use them in our own writing and speaking.”可知,阅读能帮助我们理解语法规则,学会正确组合复杂句子并运用它们,这是阅读对语法有帮助的原因。
3.看电视板块下第一点“TV shows, especially sitcoms or documentaries, use real-life language. People talk in a natural way, with common expressions. This helps us learn how to speak more naturally.”可知,通过观看电视节目(尤其是情景喜剧或纪录片),学习真实生活中的自然表达和常用句式,就能学会更自然地说话。
4.看电视板块下第三点“When we watch TV, we see the facial expressions, the body movements, and the whole situation. All these together help us understand the language better. If someone says a word we don’t know, what we can see makes it easy to understand the meaning.”可知,看电视时,我们能看到面部表情、肢体动作和整体情境,这些信息能帮助我们轻松理解不认识的单词含义。
5.本题为开放性试题,可从阅读或看电视中任选其一,结合文中对应优势作答。
示例一(选阅读):I prefer to read books. When reading, I can learn many new uncommon words and complex sentence structures. It helps me understand grammar rules better and use them correctly in writing and speaking.
示例二(选看电视):I prefer to watch TV. I can learn real-life language and speak more naturally by watching TV shows. Also, it improves my listening skills and pronunciation.
Passage 5
(2026·山西太原·一模)
Newspaper of No.1 Middle School March 26, 2026
Notice BoardDear Teachers and Students,
To follow the government’s policy (政策) of putting students’ health first, our school has decided to make the class break longer from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The main goal is to help students relax, take more exercise, and protect their eyesight. For this to work, we have set the following rules: ·For Teachers: You must finish classes on time. Using the break time for lessons or tests is not allowed.
·For Students: We strongly encourage you to leave the classroom. You can go to the playground for light sports, such as playing ping - pong or skipping ropes.
— Teaching Office of No.1 Middle School
Science Corner: Why 15 Minutes?
Is a longer break really better for learning? Scientists have found that the brain works like a battery (电池) . After 45 minutes of study, a student’s attention starts to drop quickly. As shown studies, a 10 - minute break only allows the brain to “stop” for a while, but a 15 - minute break allows the nervous system to restart. It is more scientific to balance study with enough rest.
Have your say!
Do you have any ideas about our school news? Share your thoughts below!
Cheng Xiaomeng, a student
The 15 - minute break is a great gift! I used to rush to the bathroom and run back. Now, I have time to play a quick game of ping - pong or just sit and chat. I feel much more awake for the next lesson.
Li Tao, a student
I think 10 minutes was enough. The extra 5 minutes is just a waste of time and breaks my study habits. The hallway becomes too noisy, making it difficult for me to prepare for the next class.
Mr. Yu, a parent
I fully support this. Many children have poor eyesight because they stay indoors too long. This policy forces them to look at green trees. Health is the base of everything, including good grades.
Ms. Ma, a teacher
I worried I wouldn’t have enough time for teaching. But I found students listen more carefully now. They return from the “15 - minute energetic break” with big smiles and ready - to - learn minds.
1.What’s the big change in No. 1 Middle School?
2.How should students spend the class break according to the notice?
3.Why is the 15 - minute break necessary?
4.What’s the common idea of Cheng Xiaomeng and Ms. Ma about the change?
5.If our school also follows this change, what do you think of it? Why?
【答案】1.The class break has become 5 minutes longer. / The school has decided to make the class break longer from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. 2.They should leave the classroom, go to the playground for light sports like playing ping-pong or skipping ropes. / By leaving the classroom and playing light sports. 3.Because it allows the nervous system to restart. / Because it is more scientific to balance study with enough rest. 4.They both find that the longer break helps students feel more awake/energetic and listen more carefully in class. / They both think it’s good for students. 5.I like/support it. /I think it will be helpful. Because the longer time allows me to have better face-to-face communication with my friends.
I dislike it. /I think it will bring trouble. Because too much free time may lead to some safety problems in the crowded hallway.

Passage 6
(2026·山西临汾·一模)请阅读下面语篇,根据其内容回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡相应的位置上。
Enjoying life to the fullest
Many young people today put self-care first
Nowadays, some young people like to treat themselves by having a big dinner to make themselves feel good, which costs them lots of money. What do you think of this kind of lifestyle?
Four students share their views on the internet.
Yes No
Young people today believe that living in the present is more important. Doing small things like drinking bubble milk tea (珍珠奶茶) after a test or watching funny videos can help them feel better. These moments of joy help them face new challenges.
I think this kind of lifestyle is acceptable, but we should only do it if we can afford it. After all, isn’t finding light in the darkness a form of wisdom (智慧) ?
Sheng Sien, 14
Nowadays, many young people like to “enjoy life” even if they can’t truly afford it. In my opinion, this is not a good idea.
I believe that happiness lies not in the richness of possessions (所有物) , but in the simple life. Instead of spending money on things that don’t last, young people should focus on learning new skills and building strong relationships. This way, they can have a happy life that lasts a long time.
Peng Sitong, 15
Young people today are under a lot of pressure. It’s important for them to find ways to reduce the stress and protect their mental well-being (心理健康) . Even if they don’t spend much money, young people can still manage to meet their needs to feel happier.
For older people, their main problem used to be not having enough food or clothing. But for young people today, it may be mental health problems. So it’s important to see things differently at different times.
Chen Huan, 15
I think it’s not good to live this kind of lifestyle. First, short-lived happiness may stop us from working hard. When we spend too much time playing games or shopping, we might fall behind our peers, who are working to improve themselves. Second, avoiding challenges can make it hard to face difficult situations in the future. If we only do what makes us happy, it may be hard to achieve anything meaningful.
Instead of chasing (追求) short-lived happiness, we should be responsible and plan for long-term goals.
Wang Yunqing, 15.
1.What may some young people do to treat themselves?
2.Who thinks happiness lies in a simple life?
3.What problem did older people use to have according to Chen Huan?
4.According to Wang Yunqing, why is it not good to live this kind of lifestyle? (List one reason)
5.As a student, what do you think of the lifestyle of putting self-care first that costs a lot of money? Why do you think so?
【答案】1.They may have a big dinner to make themselves feel good. 2.Peng Sitong. 3.They didn’t have enough food or clothing. 4.Because it may make young people stop working hard. / Because it may make young people find it hard to face difficulties and achieve meaningful things. 5.I don’t think it is a good lifestyle. True happiness shouldn’t depend on spending too much. We should focus on long-term growth and meaningful experiences, such as learning new skills or making good friends. These can bring us lasting satisfaction. /...
【导语】本文是一篇议论文,主要介绍了四位青少年就“年轻人是否应通过高消费犒劳自己”展开讨论,观点分为支持与反对两方。
1.第一段明确指出“some young people like to treat themselves by having a big dinner to make themselves feel good”,一些年轻人喜欢用大吃一顿来犒劳自己,让自己感觉良好。
2.第二位分享者 Peng Sitong 在文中明确写道“I believe that happiness lies not in the richness of possessions, but in the simple life”,因此是她认为幸福不在于财富的丰富,而在于生活的简单。
3.第三位分享者Chen Huan在文中说“For older people, their main problem used to be not having enough food or clothing”,过去,老年人的主要问题是吃不饱穿不暖。
Passage 7
(2026·山西晋中·一模)Nowadays, AI tools are widely used in students’ daily study. To guide students to use AI properly, No.4 High School has made a new rule: Students can use AI to get learning suggestions, but they are not allowed to use AI to complete homework directly. Here, some students and parents are discussing whether this rule is necessary.
Wang Kai, a 16-year-old student AI is a great helper for my study. When I meet difficult math problems, AI can explain the steps clearly instead of just giving me the answer. Also, AI can help me check my compositions and point out grammar mistakes. This helps me find my weak points and improve my learning efficiency.
Liu Ying, a 15-year-old student I think this rule is too strict. Sometimes I have too much homework and I’m really tired. Using AI to finish simple exercises can save me a lot of time. If I can’t use AI for homework while other students use it secretly, I’m afraid I will have less time to rest and fall behind them.
Mr. Zhao, a parent I fully support this decision. Many students today rely (依赖) too much on AI and lose their ability to think independently. The rule helps children use AI as a tool, not a replacement for their own thinking. This is good for their long-term development.
Ms. Zhou, a teacherProper use of AI makes personalized learning possible for students. AI can provide different learning plans according to students’ levels, but it can’t replace the process of thinking and practice. If students only copy AI’s answers, they will never really understand the knowledge. This rule helps students develop their independent thinking ability.
No matter what we think of this rule, it aims to help students learn in a healthy way. We can make different choices to adapt to (适应) this change.
1.What can students use AI to do according to the school rule?
2.Who thinks differently from the others about the rule?
3.According to the parent, why is the rule good for students?
4.According to the teacher, why can’t AI replace students’ thinking and practice?
5.As a student, what do you think of the school’s rule? Why do you think so?
【答案】1.They can use AI to get learning suggestions. 2.Liu Ying (the 15-year-old student) . 3.It helps children use AI as a tool, not a replacement for their own thinking. / It helps students think independently, which is good for their long-term development. 4.Because if students only copy AI’s answers, they will never really understand the knowledge. 5.示例一: I think it’s a good rule. Because it helps me use AI properly and develop my independent thinking ability.
示例二: I don’t like this rule. Because it can’t save me time when I have too much homework.
示例三: I don’t mind it. Because I can use AI to get suggestions and finish homework by myself.
【导语】本文主要讲述了第四中学出台新规引导学生合理使用AI工具,以及学生、家长和老师对此规则的不同看法。
1.首段直接明确学校新规内容:“Students can use AI to get learning suggestions”,这是原文中的具体许可信息,直接提取。
他明确表示“The rule helps children use AI as a tool, not a replacement for their own thinking. This is good for their long-term development”,答案整合了核心信息。
4.第五段老师明确指出“If students only copy AI’s answers, they will never really understand the knowledge”,这是老师认为AI不能替代学生思考和练习的核心原因,属于原文直接信息。
5.本题是开放性试题,答案不唯一,但观点需基于文中事实,结合文章中AI的优势与弊端,以及自己作为学生的学习体验,阐述对该规则的看法及理由,合理作答即可。

Chinese people have long shared the joy of travel through poems, like this one below by Li Bai:
In the early morning, I left Baidi City that was covered with colorful clouds; A thousand li to Jiangling, I returned in a single day. The monkeys on both sides kept crying, while my small boat had passed ten thousand mountains.
Travel has become a favorite activity for many people. Among all travel types, hiking and self-driving travel are the most popular. You can easily find such videos online.
Hiking is a top choice for nature lovers. Online videos are full of helpful guides for hikers. These videos introduce beautiful routes (路线) like mountain roads or forest trails. Passage 9
(2026·山西长治·一模)请阅读下面的语篇,根据其内容回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡的相应位置上。
Nowadays, typing or texting is taking the place of the strokes (笔画) of Chinese characters. For this reason, people are paying less attention to handwriting. As a result, they can’t even remember exactly how to write a given character sometimes. This is called “character amnesia (提笔忘字)”.
To change the situation, the TV program named Chinese Character Dictation (听写) Competition came out. Meng Man, who teaches at Minzu University of China, took part in the competition as a judge. “I was surprised by some competitors because I couldn’t even remember how to write certain characters, but they could,” she said. “Now many adults have trouble writing Chinese characters. The program is really great, since it draws people’s attention to this problem. ”
When typing or texting, most people use a system where they type out the pinyin of a character and then get a list of all possible Chinese characters. They just need to choose the one they want from the list. The bad thing about the system is that it stops people from thinking about how a Chinese character is formed.
“Chinese characters are usually square. They teach people to be upright (正直的). Typing or texting will influence people’s understanding of the traditional culture behind the Chinese characters,”Meng said.
To solve the problem of “character amnesia”, experts suggest that people change their mobile phone texting way from pinyin to handwriting. In this way, they can avoid forgetting how to write characters.
1.What problem do some people face according to Paragraph 1?
2.How does Meng Man like the TV program?
3.Why do most people forget how to write Chinese characters when typing?
4.What advice do experts give to deal with “character amnesia”?
5.Do you think it’s necessary for us to write Chinese characters? Why?
【答案】1.Some people face the problem of “character amnesia”. 2.Meng Man thinks the TV program is really great. 3.Because when typing, they only choose characters from a list without thinking about how they are formed. 4.Experts suggest that people change their mobile phone texting way from pinyin to handwriting. 5.I think it’s necessary for us to write Chinese characters. Because writing by hand helps us remember the characters’ strokes and structure, preventing “character amnesia”.
【导语】本文主要介绍了现代人由于过度依赖拼音输入法而导致的“提笔忘字”现象,以及一档旨在唤起人们对汉字书写重视的电视节目,并探讨了该现象的原因和专家建议的解决方法。
1.根据第一段“they can’t even remember exactly how to write a given character sometimes. This is called “character amnesia’”可知,人们面临的问题是偶尔会忘记如何书写特定汉字。

Passage 1
(2026·山西吕梁·一模)请阅读下面语篇,根据其内容回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡相应的位置上。
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the technology that enables machines to simulate (模拟) human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, recognizing information, and making simple decisions.
AI does not make machines really “think” or have real consciousness (意识) like humans. It just uses programs to perform tasks intelligently.
Art, to many, is a human expression of creativity. But in recent years, you may have read news about artificial intelligence creating its own art, such as painting. Some people worry that it might replace artists.
But this worry seems to be unnecessary, at least for now. Many artists today are turning AI into a useful tool. Instead of replacing artists, AI is bringing artists more possibilities.
When an artist wants a picture of a bright, peaceful forest with lovely, magical animals, AI can create it right away. It can experiment with various styles and use different colors to bring the image to life. Then, the artist can review the works created by AI, choose the best one and add their own ideas to it. In this way, AI helps the artist become more creative.
What else can AI do?
◆Create music
AI can learn different music styles by analyzing different audio data (声音数据) . It uses this data to create music from pop to jazz and more.
◆Design websites
AI makes web design faster by creating starting points and giving suggestions.
◆ ▲
AI can be trained to write/translate articles and poems.
◆…
Apart from co-creating imaginative works, AI could also take care of repetitive (重复的) tasks for artists. For example, in the cartoon industry, there are AI tools that can color in black-and-white line drawings (黑白线稿). Although the results require a little cleanup, “it gives artists room for creativity,” said a famous painter in Hollywood.
Art of every kind has always been influenced by technological breakthroughs (突破). AI can become a useful tool to bring change to the art world if it’s welcomed.
1.What is Artificial Intelligence?
2.How can the artist become more creative with AI?
3.What benefit does AI bring to artists by taking care of repetitive tasks?
4.What is the best subtitle (小标题) that can be put in ▲ ?
5.What do you think of AI being used in art? Why do you think so?
【答案】1.It is the technology that enables machines to simulate human intelligence. 2.The artist can review the works created by AI, choose the best one and add their own ideas to it. / … 3.It gives artists room for creativity. 4.Write / Translate Articles and Poems 5.Useful. / … Because it breaks the limits of traditional art and inspires new forms of creativity. / Because it can help artists save a lot of time, allowing them to explore more creative ideas. / Because it brings artists more possibilities. / …
1.第一段“ Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the technology that enables machines to simulate (模拟) human intelligence... ”,所以填It is the technology that enables machines to simulate human intelligence.
2.第三段“Then, the artist can review the works created by AI, choose the best one and add their own ideas to it. In this way, AI helps the artist become more creative”,所以填The artist can review the works created by AI, choose the best one and add their own ideas to it.
3.倒数第二段“it gives artists room for creativity,” said a famous painter in Hollywood”,所以填It gives artists room for creativity.
4.原文“AI can be trained to write/translate articles and poems”,提取与转述结合前文小标题“Create music / Design websites”的动宾短语结构,提炼核心功能。所以填Write /Translate Articles and Poems。
5.本题是开放性试题,答案不唯一,观点和理由不能漏写,需要基于文中事实。

Shehuo (社火), meaning “Community Fire”, is a folk activity showing people’s happiness and good wishes. Farmers usually perform it outdoors during the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, mainly in northern China such as Shanxi, Shaanxi and other places. It includes many kinds of performance such as dragon dance, stilt walking, land boating dance, yangge dance, weifeng drum dance, and so on. There are also wonderful evening activities like iron flower beating and firework shows.
Stilt Walking (踩高跷)
Performers usually dress up as ancient people. They tie two wooden stilts to their feet, which makes them taller than others. They walk on stilts carefully in the streets. However, it is not easy to put on a good show. Performers need to have some skills and a good sense of balance when performing, or they will fall easily and get hurt.
Land Boating DanceA land boat is usually made of bamboo and cloth. During the show, people dress up as boatmen and passengers. They carry the “boat” and move on land to make it look like a real boat travelling on water. They dance to music and create a happy and festive atmosphere. This art form is very popular among people.
Iron Flower BeatingIt is also called “Iron Pouring Art”. People use this art to celebrate harvests, weddings and the Spring Festival. Performers must work together to get ready for the show. First, they melt iron in a crucible (炉缸) with fire until it becomes hot liquid (液体). Before the performance, they wear thick cowhide clothes and straw hats to keep safe from the heat and sparks. Then they use long willow scoops to take the hot molten iron. At last, they pour the iron onto walls or throw it into the sky. It makes beautiful sparks as high as 10 meters. Some artists even make amazing “fire trees” and “iron waterfalls”.
The Performance Process
These colorful activities win people’s hearts deeply. When people are asked about their favorite shehuo activities, they share their thoughts with excitement.
Li Lei, a local citizen, says, “I like stilt walking best. I think the performers look cool and amazing when walking on tall stilts. It is not easy to keep balance, so it shows their great courage and skills.”
Zhang Hua, a volunteer, says, “I enjoy Iron Flower Beating the most. I am deeply attracted by the bright sparks, beautiful fire trees and fantastic iron waterfalls in the dark sky. It is the most wonderful and unforgettable part of shehuo.”
Shehuo is more than just a show. It represents the unity and celebration spirit of local communities, passing down cultural values from generation to generation. And it also carries people’s wishes for a better life and a bright future.

Primary and middle schools across many Chinese cities have extended (延长) class breaks from 10 to 15 minutes. It encourages outdoor activities among both students and teachers.
Traditionally, schools in China have 10-minute breaks between classes, which provided a little time for students, especially those in tall buildings, to take part in outdoor activities. In some schools, students were stopped from leaving classrooms during breaks because of safety worries.
Extending break times makes sure students can take part in at least 30 minutes of physical exercise a day. Schools in Beijing, Tianjin, and Qingdao in Shandong Province, have longer breaks now. Students now have more time to relax, rest, and play a role in outdoor activities, so their physical fitness (体质) can be better.

Li Yang, a student
I am very happy to hear that the break time has been extended to 15 minutes. It is great to have more time to move my legs and breathe fresh air after sitting for a long time. I usually play badminton with my classmates, and it makes me feel energetic again for the next class. I believe more outdoor activities will help us study better and stay healthier.
Mrs. Zhang, a teacher
From my point of view, extending the break is a wise decision. Students need proper rest to refresh their minds and improve study speed. A 15-minute break allows them to relax their bodies and minds, reducing tiredness. However, we need to guide them to use the time wisely instead of just chatting (聊天) or playing with phones.
Mr. Xie, a parent
As a parent, I fully support this change, because the health of my child is the most important. It is good for my child’s eyesight and physical growth to spend more time outdoors. More exercise also makes children’s reduce stress and sleep better at night. I hope this change can continue and become a long-term practice.

They went to the box and Lisa opened the small door. There lied two new books and Matt’s books were gone! There was a card in the box, too. “Dear friend, thanks for your books, and I hope you like mine,” it said.
1.Who was Lisa?
2.What did Matt do when Lisa went for tools?
3.Where did Matt put his wooden box?
4.How did Matt feel when he found that no one noticed his box?
5.Some kids think “Little Library” is a great idea. Do you agree with them? Write down one of your reasons.

Why?

Why?

Why?

1.What is Shehuo?
2.Why is it not easy for performers to do stilt walking?
3.How do performers show us the Land Boating Dance?
4.Please complete missing step in the performance process of Iron Flower Beating.
5.What’s your favorite shehuo activity? Why do you like it?

This change quickly becomes a hot topic. People have different ideas about it.
1.How long did class breaks last before?
2.How has students’ physical fitness changed after six months according to the chart?
3.What do teachers need to teach students from Mrs. Zhang?
4.Why does Mr. Xie support the change?
5.As a student, what do you think of the longer breaks? Why do you think so?
