W:Hi,John,I hear you have been on some really
wonderful trips.
M:Yes.I've been on many amazing trips,but I
didn't know the trips could be so awesome until I
went with my kids.
W:Where did you go?
M:We went to Thailand and Singapore. My first trip
with a kid was to Thailand with my daughter.
We went swimming in the sea and did a lot of ac-
tivities on the beach and then we went up north
and rode elephants in Chiang Mai,which deeply
impressed my daughter.
W:Did you think that would be dangerous?
M:Well,I was nervous at first, but we had very good
trainers there with us right from the start.
W:I'd like to take a family trip abroad but my son is
too young now.
M:I just can't wait to visit the Great Pyramid of Gi-
za this summer vacation.
W:Oh,no.Stop talking,John!

M:Your grandmother has an amazing garden,Sally!
How many plants does she have?
W:She has a lot,Nick! There are ten different kinds
of vegetables and twenty types of flowers. She's
been growing this garden for thirty years, longer
than I've been alive!
M:That's great!Does she give you fresh food
from it?
W:Oh,yes. In the summer she gives us lettuce,cab-
bages, and tomatoes, andin the autumn she gives
us potatoes and carrots.Fresh food is so delicious.
And we can save some money. But it's hard work
to grow the food.
M:What does she have to do?
W:Well, she has to protect the food from animals
who try to eat it.And she has to clear out dead
plants so the new ones can grow.If it gets really
cold, she covers the plants so they don't freeze.
M:Wow,that's a lot of work!Your grandmother is
amazing.

Hello, everyone. This is the final team meeting
before we travel to Thailand.I'd like to tell you about
the three different projects that we are running
there. Before I go on though, let me tell you that we
will be leaving on the 1st of June, and we will be
coming back on the 19th of June.I hope that won't be
a problem for anyone. Now,for the first project,
we are helping to feed homeless people in Bangkok.
We will set up some camps for people to come, eat
and sleep.Secondly,we will be going to help clear
up some beaches in the southern islands of Thailand,
some of which are damaged from tourism. This in-
cludes swimming into the ocean and helping the sea
life to recover,as we will be helping to remove some
of the rubbish down there. Finally,we will travel to
the east region of Thailand. Here,we are focusing on
planting new trees. The region is home to many kinds
of birds,so it is very important that they have a safe
protected home.OK?Has anyone got any questions
on any of those?

other countries.
W:Actually.I've been here teaching families with
disabled children for five years.I feel very sorry
for these families and I do hope the children can
get a good education and have a bright future.
M:How much did they pay for your work?
W:I didn't ask for any money.I have been voluntee-
ring for the UN.I think it is a meaningful job.
M:It is a lot of fun and I'd like to try that some day,
t00.
W:But you must get a certificate of education first.
