All of your magazines are so helpful and make me smile. Sometimes at school when people say their test results, or sport times, or are in higher levels, it makes me feel like I’m not good at anything and am not good enough. Thanks for reading, Ella Hi Ella! Thank you for reaching out about how you’re feeling around school and sporting results. Let us first say that comparing is very normal, and often we do it so quickly and easily that we don’t stop to think about the wider conditions. It’s important to remember two things: There’s nothing wrong with realizing that someone is stronger at a subject or sport than you are. Rather than losing heart, a better result might be feeling like you want to develop your own skills, study more, or take inspiration from this person or even ask for their advice! YOU are your own unbelievable person, with your own great personalities and skills—some of which you may have not even discovered yet! You don’t need to be like anyone else, or do things like anyone else, either. One of the best ways to compare is not to look at all the things we don’t have, but to look at all the things we do—and the same goes for our achievements, too. No matter what, please know that you are good enough, always! With kindness, the TB team 31.How does Ella probably feel about her situation? A.Angry. B.Moved. C.Nervous. One evening Friday went out to look for food. But in less than an hour he came back with fear. “Master! Master!” he cried. “There’s a great ship near the island, and men are coming to the shore in a boat!” I ran with him down to the shore. It was an English ship! We were careful not to be seen. There were eleven men in the boat, but three of them were prisoners. Their arms were tied with rope, but their legs were free and they could walk. The other sailors pushed the three prisoners up the beach. Then some of them sat down on the sand and began to drink. Others walked away to look at the island, and two men stayed to watch the boat. The three prisoners walked slowly along the beach and sat down under a tree, not far from us. They looked very unhappy. Very quietly, I came up behind them through the trees, and called out to them in English. “Don’t be afraid,” I said. “I’m an Englishman. Perhaps I can help you.” The three men turned and looked at me. They did not answer at once, they were too surprised. Perhaps they thought I was a wild man. Then the oldest man spoke. “I am the captain of that ship,” he said, “last night there was a mutiny (叛乱), and the seamen took the ship from me. Now they’re going to leave the three of us here, to die on this island.” “Do these mutineers (反叛者) have guns?” “Only two,” he answered, “and they’ve left those on the boat.” “All right,” I said. “We’ll fight them, but if we get your ship back for you, you must take me back to England.” The captain agreed immediately and thanked me very warmly for my help. A.Robinson was found by the mutineers B.The captain was killed by the mutineers C.Robinson helped the captain get the ship back D.Friday found some helpers for the captain 【答案】38.B 39.B 40.A 41.C 【导语】本文讲述了鲁滨逊在岛上第27年时遇到一艘英国船,船长被船员叛乱绑架。 根据“‘Do these mutineers have guns?’ ‘Only two,’ he answered, ‘and they’ve left those on the boat.’” 根据“We’ll fight them, but if we get your ship back for you, you must take me back to England.” 根据“I (Robinson) was now in my twenty-seventh year on the island, and I did not want to be there for another year.” 故选A。 41. 根据“The captain agreed immediately and thanked me very warmly for my help. Friday ran back to my house to get all the guns, and the captain and I made a plan.” D Quantum (量子) computers have been on my mind a lot lately. A friend has been sending me articles on how quantum computers might help solve some of the biggest challenges we face as humans. I’ve also had exchanges with two quantum-computing experts. One is computer scientist Chris Johnson who I see as someone who helps keep the field honest. The other is physicist Philip Taylor. For decades, quantum computing has been little more than a laboratory curiosity. Now, big tech companies have invested in quantum computing, as have many smaller ones. According to Business Weekly, quantum machines could help us “cure cancer, and even take steps to turn climate change in the opposite direction.” This is the sort of hype (炒作) that annoys Johnson. He worries that researchers are making promises they can’t keep. “What’s new,” Johnson wrote, “is that millions of dollars are now potentially available to quantum computing researchers.” As quantum computing attracts more attention and funding, researchers may mislead investors, journalists, the public, and worst of all, themselves about their work’s potential. If researchers can’t keep their promises, excitement might give way to doubt, disappointment, and anger, Johnson warns. Lots of other technologies have gone through stages of excitement. But something about quantum computing makes it especially prone to hype, Johnson suggests, perhaps because “‘quantum’ stands for something cool you shouldn’t be able to understand.” And that brings me back to Taylor, who suggested that I read his book Q for Quantum. After I read the book, Taylor patiently answered my questions about it. He also answered my questions about PyQuantum, the firm he co-founded in 2016. Taylor shares Johnson’s concerns about hype, but he says those concerns do not apply to PyQuantum. The company, he says, is closer than any other firm “by a very large margin (幅度)” to building a “useful” quantum computer, one that “solves an impactful problem that we would not have been able to solve otherwise.” He adds, “People will naturally discount my opinions, but I have spent a lot of time quantitatively comparing what we are doing with others.” Could PyQuantum really be leading all the competition “by a wide margin”, as Taylor claims? I don’t know. I’m certainly not going to advise my friend or anyone else to invest in quantum computers. But I trust Taylor, just as I trust Johnson. 42.Considering Johnson’s worry, the author is ________. A.supportive B.unconcerned C.unsure D.excited 43.What leads to Taylor’s optimism about quantum computing? A.His influence in physics. B.The competition in the field. C.His confidence in PyQuantum. D.The investment of tech companies. 44.What does the underlined word “prone” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean? A.Open B.Cool. C.Useful. D.Resistant. 45.Which would be the best title for the passage? A.Is Johnson More Competent Than Taylor? B.Is Quantum Computing Redefining Technology? C.Will Quantum Computers Ever Come into Being? D.Will Quantum Computing Ever Live Up to Its Hype? 【答案】42.A 43.C 44.A 45.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 根据第三段“As quantum computing attracts more attention and funding, researchers may mislead ... Johnson warns.”以及最后一段“But I trust Taylor, just as I trust Johnson.” 故选A。 43. 根据第五段“The company, he says, is closer than any other firm ... to building a ‘useful’ quantum computer”和“People will naturally discount my opinions, but I have spent a lot of time quantitatively comparing what we are doing with others.” 根据第三段“perhaps because ‘quantum’ stands for something cool you shouldn’t be able to understand.” 故选A。 45. (每空一词) 46.I saw a dog on the floor when I came into the room. Landforms are natural features on the planet’s surface. You probably know about some of them already! Deserts are one kind of landform that humans dislike. They are large areas of land that do not receive a lot of rainfall. Each desert has one thing in common; it has less than 10 inches of rain per year. They can be very hot during the day, and very cold at night. It is difficult for many plants and animals to live in deserts. Mountains are very tall landforms. They are larger than hills, usually more than 600 meters high. 20% of the Earth’s surface is covered by mountains. They are made up of Earth and rock material. Most mountains we know about rise high above the ground, but mountains also lie under the oceans. Mountains are home to different types of plant, animals and even people. The higher the mountain you go up, the colder the temperature becomes. The air at the top of a mountain is thin, so sunlight gets through very easily. This means that even if it feels cold, you can get sunburnt quickly. Valleys are the spaces between mountains. Some valleys are V-shaped, and some are U-shaped. Many people live in valleys, because they have a comfortable temperature, are protected, and may have rivers flowing through them. River valleys are attractive for humans as they provide good water for drinking and agriculture. They also offer benefits such as fishing, rich soil, and easier transportation. Plains (平原) are large, flat areas of land. Since flat land is easy to build on, many cities are on plains. Many plants can grow on plains, as well. Some plains are by oceans, and are called ocean plains. Plains that are by rivers are called river plains, and are especially good for growing crops. 56.What is a landform? 57.What does each desert have in common? 58.Write two facts about plains. 59.Why are valleys important to humans? 60.Why can you get sunburnt quickly on the top of a mountain? 56.Landform is a natural feature on the planet’s surface. 57.It has less than 10 inches of rain per year. 58.Plains are large flat areas. Recently, many cities have increased the class breaks to 15 minutes. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 Make Good Use of Break Time In China, most schools have a 10-minute break between classes. Recently, many cities have increased the class breaks to 15 minutes. This change is necessary because longer breaks allow students to relax their minds, reduce stress, and prepare better for the next class.   To make good use of break time, I suggest doing light activities. First, we can do simple exercises like stretching or jogging to stay active. Second, chatting with friends helps us build better relationships. Third, enjoying nature in the school garden can refresh our minds. However, we should avoid running loudly or doing dangerous games.   I support this change because it shows care for students’ health. Though 15 minutes is short, using it wisely can make us happier and more energetic. Let’s enjoy our breaks and study more efficiently! [亮点词汇] ①allow sb to do sth允许某人做某事 ②make good use of充分利用 ③help sb do sth帮助某人做某事 [高分句型] ①This change is necessary because longer breaks allow students to relax their minds, reduce stress, and prepare better for the next class.(because引导的原因状语从句)    ②Though 15 minutes is short, using it wisely can make us happier and more energetic.(though引导的让步状语从句) 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年中考临考押题卷(扬州卷) 英语 注意事项: 1. 1.DeepSeek, ________ AI language model, has become ________ popular tool for people to get information and solve problems. Friday ran back to my house to get all the guns, and the captain and I made a plan. 38.What does the underlined word “those” refer to?
