Teaching and learning procedure: Step 1 Leading in Activity 1 Leading in Lead in the teaching and learning topic by introducing the learning objectives of this period. Step 2 Reviewing useful structures Activity 2 Reviewing useful structures Get the students to read the grammar explanations by themselves in class, and underline the key points or the items that they have problems with. And then the teacher guides the students to review the grammar items and emphasize the key points. I 概念:语态是动词的一种形式,用来说明主语和谓语动词之间的关系。英语动词有两种语态:主动语态和被动语态。主动语态表示主语是动作的执行者,被动语态表示主语是动作的承受者。使用被动语态的句子,谓语动词的形式是“be +动词过去分词”。语义上主语为动作的承受者或对象,主要用于需要强调动作承受者、不必要指出动作执行者的情况,或出于语篇衔接连贯的需要。一般来说,只有及物动词才有被动语态。 II被动语态中谓语动词形式 1. 谓语动词形式的构成:助动词或情态动词+be的适当形式+v-ed过去分词 ①构成时态的助动词或情态动词(照搬,一般现在时和过去式无); ②be的适当形式(be的形式和主动语态中谓语动词的形式相一致,包括be, am, is, are, was, were, being和been); ③ 动词过去分词(主动语态中谓语动词在被动语态中一律变为过去分词); 2. 各种时态的主动语态和被动语态谓语形式 时态 主动语态 被动语态 一般现在时 do/does am/is/are + done(及物动词的过去分词) 一般过去时 did was/were +done(及物动词的过去分词) 一般将来时 shall/will do shall/will be +done(及物动词的过去分词) 现在进行时 am/is/are doing am/is/are being +done(及物动词的过去分词) 过去进行时 was/were doing was/were being +done(及物动词的过去分词) 现在完成时 has/have done has/have been+ done(及物动词的过去分词) 过去完成时 had done had been +done(及物动词的过去分词) 将来完成时 shall/ will have done shall/ will have been done(及物动词的过去分词) 3. 主动语态变为被动语态的方法。 主动语态:S + (auxiliary/modal verb) Vt. + O 被动语态:S (主格) + (auxiliary /modal verb) be done by O (宾格) III 注意事项 1. 有些不及物动词的主动形式可以表示被动意义,常见的有下面几种: 1)某些连系动词,如look, feel, smell, sound, taste, prove等。 e.g. Its skin feels really smooth. The old methods proved best after all. 2)某些与can’t, won’t等连用的不及物动词,如open, shut, move, lock等。 e.g. It can’t move because it gets stuck. The window won’t shut. 3) 某些可以和well, easily等副词连用的不及物动词,如write, read, wash, burn, clean等。 e.g. Her latest novel reads well. Wooden floor not only cleans easily, but it’s environmentally friendly. 2. 非谓语动词的某些主动形式表示被动意义 1) 在be worth doing和be to blame结构中,动词-ing形式或动词不定式用主动形式表示被动意义。 e.g. This newspaper is not worth reading at all. The policy is partly to blame for causing the worst unemployment in Europe. 2) 当want, need, require表示“需要”时,其宾语可用动词-ing形式的主动形式表示被动意义。 e.g. The building wants repairing (= to be repaired). This sentence needs explaining (= to be explained). 3) 在“be +形容词+不定式”结构中,不定式表示的动作与句子主语之间是逻辑上的动宾关系时,用主动形式表示被动意义。用于此结构的常见形容词有:interesting, hard, difficult, easy, light, heavy, comfortable, cheap, expensive, pleasant, fit等。 e.g. Her behavior became increasingly difficult to understand. The machine is relatively cheap to build but expensive to maintain. Step 3 Using the structures Activity 4 Using the structures (exercises in the textbook) 1. Complete the sentences with appropriate forms of the verbs in brackets. Then try to translate these sentences into Chinese. Read the introduction to a science fiction novel and complete the passage using the correct forms of the words in the box. Answers: is regarded, explored/represented, written, was translated, represents, is recruited, has been set up, gets caught up, connected, be discovered. 3. Step 5 Evaluation and summary Activity 6 Self-evaluation Guide the students to reflect on their learning of this period by considering the following aspects. 1. How is your mastery of passive voice? (Good/Fairly good/Moderate/Just so so/Poor) 2. What are your problems with this grammar item—passive voice? Activity 7 Summary (The teacher) Guide the students to summarize the predicate forms of passive voice in different tenses and the usage of passive voice. Homework: 1.
