I was born in Nassib, a small village in Syria (叙利亚). My parents and I lived a simple life. This peaceful life, however, didn’t last long.
When I was six years old, a war broke out, turning our world upside down. I could no longer play with my friends and I felt scared every day. Finally, my family decided to leave.
It was 2012. As we packed up, I took one last look at our house, hoping we could return after a few months. It was also painful to say goodbye to my friends.
We moved to Irbid, Jordan (约旦). It was much bigger and noisier than Nassib. Everything seemed strange to me at school. I felt lonely because I didn’t know anyone. I cried a lot.
After finishing the fourth grade, I went to a new school. Finally, I had some friends. School was fun again. But just as things were looking up, we had to move again. As refugees (难民), my parents couldn’t work or own a house in Jordan. They applied (申请) to move to Canada and after two years of waiting, we were accepted.
I was sad to leave my friends, but I was also excited—I knew I would be flying for the first time and seeing the world from above. When we landed, it was snowing. I knew I had a lot to learn again. I had to pick up a new language since I only spoke Arabic. I also had to adjust to (适应) colder weather and different customs. But this time I felt no fear.
Now four years have passed and I can speak French and English well. I’ve also made a lot of friends. Adapting (适应) isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible.

A. peaceful B. difficult C. lonely
22. Why did the writer cry at school in Irbid?

Taking time to eat dinner as a family has lots of advantages. Kids who eat with their family do better in school. They are less likely to fight with classmates than those who are left to have dinner alone. But if both parents work, who has the time?
“Having dinner together is good for health,” says David Smith, a teacher at a very famous university. But the “family meal” doesn’t mean that Mother, Father and all the kids sit in the dining room and eat a delicious meal every day. New research shows that when a family has dinner together in front of the television, kids still eat better than those who don’t eat with parents. When a family eat together, they eat better. Even if the food is distasteful, when it’s eaten at home with others, it still counts. “Eating together, whatever you eat, means family members enjoy more family time,” says David.
The most important thing is to eat often with children. Share a meal with your children and they will share information about their lives. That’s what happened to Susan’s family. Even when they are busy, Susan and Kevin try to eat dinner with their sons, aged 11 and 14, almost every night. The family have dinner together and sometimes the food may come from a restaurant.“I don’t have to ask children to tell me funny stories about school.”
They are glad to tell me what happened in school,” says Susan. “I’ve learned so much more than when we didn’t have lunch together.”
24. What does the underlined word “distasteful” mean in English?
A. Enjoyable. B. Boring. C. Tasteless.
25. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A. Eat quickly often. B. Eat with children often. C. Eat delicious food often.
26. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Kids who always eat alone are less likely to fight.
B. The family meal means parents and children eat delicious food every night.
C. Children will talk to their parents when they are eating together.
27. What is the best title for the passage?

第3段第1句:“The most important thing is to eat often with children.”,整段围绕“频繁和孩子一起吃饭”展开,用Susan家的例子说明,与选项“Eat with children often”匹配。

Every country celebrates high school graduation in different ways. Sweden is no exception. Swedish high school graduation is a very special day that is full of strange, funny and unique (独特的) traditions. All students wear special white hats with their names on them. The hat is quite similar to a kind of hat that a ship’s captain wears. Girls prefer to wear a simple white dress, while boys wear suits. After getting dressed, students will have a champagne (香槟酒) breakfast in a large garden. Having breakfast outdoors is really a joyful thing. It is the perfect way to start the day. After breakfast, students go to school and there is a graduation ceremony. After picking up their diplomas (毕业文凭), students will make their way out into an outside space at the school. Their family and friends gather there and wait for their coming. Each family holds up a student’s childhood picture, and then they give flower chains to wear around the students’ necks. Family and friends also give them small gifts, such as a medal, a ring or a watch, which are usually kept for the rest of life. With loud music, students get on a truck. And there are some slogans (标语) hanging on the truck. The truck runs around the town when the students wave, dance, laugh and enjoy themselves. People in the street will cheer to express good wishes as the students drive past. Graduation in Sweden has turned into a whole town event.
“used to do sth.”
one and a half“一个半”后接可数名词复数,因此“hour”变为复数形式“hours”。
“make a living”表示“谋生”,因此填不定冠词“a”。

主语“The night art school”与动词“set up”是被动关系(学校被设立),且时间是“in 2016”,过去时,因此用一般过去时的被动语态“was set”。
根据后文“Today, the night school provides all these classes…”
“at a…price”表示“以……的价格”,因此填介词“at”。
【45题详解】
句意:人们需要一个让心灵休息的地方,而夜间艺术课程就可以是这样的地方。空格后是名词“minds”,需用形容词性物主代词修饰,因此主格代词“they”变为“their”,表示“他们的”。

Relaxation seems to have become the real theme of Swedish graduation. The only thing students need to do is to enjoy the time with their family and friends.
