T: 13 They can live in them safely.
L: Great idea! And we also need to take care of the young trees near the playground.
T: 14
L: Every three days. But I’m not sure. 15

A.I think we can make some birdhouses for them.
B.How often should we water the young trees?
C.What a pity! We should do something to help.
D.Maybe we can ask the gardener for some advice.
E.Have you noticed the little birds in the oak tree?
F.Let’s pick up the plastic bottles in the flower beds first.
G.Why not organize a “Green Campus” speech next week?
【答案】11.E 12.C 13.A 14.B 15.D
E项“Have you noticed the little birds in the oak tree?”
C项“What a pity! We should do something to help.”
A项“I think we can make some birdhouses for them.”
B项“How often should we water the young trees?”
D项“Maybe we can ask the gardener for some advice.”

At a local restaurant, two waiters were busy helping Shirley 18 colorful lights. Elsa circled her and asked, “Will you finish before the guests come?” Her mother smiled, feeling happy to give her daughter the 19 she had looked forward to for so long.
It was time for the party. Elsa sat at the table and fixed 20 eyes on the door. Thirty minutes passed, 21 still no friends had arrived.
The room stayed quiet and 22 , and the smile on Elsa’s face disappeared. Suddenly, Shirley realized her 23 — she had written the wrong date, so the kids wouldn’t come until the next day.
“I let her down.” Shirley thought. Instead of giving up, she decided to do something 24 . She took out her phone and 25 a message in a local community group, asking people to join Elsa’s birthday if they were free.
What happened next was more than she ever expected. Many people 26 replied to her invitation. In a short time, 27 began to show up, carrying small gifts for the birthday girl. Elsa felt 28 and her eyes lit up with joy when people came to say “happy birthday” to her.
At the end of the party, Shirley tried to express her thanks, but tears ran down her cheeks before she could 29 . She would never forget the kindness 30 these warm neighbors.

19.A.trip B.lesson C.party
20.A.my B.your C.her
21.A.but B.or C.so
22.A.dirty B.wet C.empty
23.A.mistake B.choice C.hope
24.A.relaxing B.different C.simple
25.A.sent B.found C.read
26.A.quickly B.safely C.secretly
27.A.relatives B.neighbors C.teachers
28.A.comfortable B.proud C.surprised
29.A.stand B.speak C.leave
30.A.for B.by C.from
16. C 17.A 18.C 19.C 20.C 21.A 22.C 23.A
24. B 25.A 26.A 27.B 28.C 29.B 30.C
前文“had looked forward to her 9th birthday for weeks”表明Elsa长时间处于期待状态,“waiting”意为“等待”,是对这一状态的准确概括。
下文“In a short time”(短时间内)表明回复速度很快,故应选“quickly”,意为“迅速地”。
“kindness from...”

Being in Steve Mann’s lab at the University of Toronto may be the closest thing to stepping inside his brain. Old computers and other electronics fill every corner. Mann, a professor (教授) at the university, keeps it this way on purpose. “Since childhood, I’ve been interested in how things work,” he says.
Mann, now 63, has always had a sense of wonder about technology. When he was four, his grandfather taught him to weld (焊接). The boy noticed that the small window of the protective helmet (头盔) almost completely blocked his view. Mann kept this “problem” in mind for years. Finally, in 1993, he came up with a solution: HDR. The technology mixes pictures with different exposures (曝光量) to create a clearer picture. It’s now used all over the world, from digital (数码的) cameras to smartphones.
As a teenager, Mann volunteered at a repair shop. Using the spare parts in the shop, he built his first wearable computer, the WearComp. It weighed about 36 kilograms. Mann agrees it was inconvenient to use, but it worked. Bit by bit, Mann made it smaller, lighter, and more useful.
With the development of HDR, the WearComp finally became the EyeTap. It’s likely the world’s first pair of smart glasses. Mann was so proud that he wore it almost day and night. However, many people felt it was unusual. Some would even go to the other side of the road so that they didn’t have to pass by him.
Beyond HDR and the EyeTap, Mann also created a smartwatch videophone, 16 years before the Apple Watch hit the market. “A lot of what I do seems ahead of its time,” he says. “Most of my ideas come to me in dreams. Somehow, they walk into the future.”
38.Why did Mann invent HDR?
A.To set up a lab.
B.To improve the helmet.
C.To teach others to weld.
39.How can we best describe the WearComp?
A.Practical. B.Convenient. C.Light.
40.What can we learn from Mann’s story?
A.It’s never too late to learn.
B.Continuous work makes perfect.
C.All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
41.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A.The History of Smart Glasses
B.An Inventor Ahead of His Time
C.Great Inventions Improve Our Life
【答案】38.B 39.A 40.B 41.B
38.文章第二段指出“When he was four, his grandfather taught him to weld. The boy noticed that the small window of the protective helmet almost completely blocked his view. Mann kept this‘problem’ in mind for years. Finally, in 1993, he came up with a solution: HDR.”,说明Mann发明HDR是为了改善头盔小窗阻挡视线的问题,即改进头盔。
39.文章第三段提及“Mann agrees it was inconvenient to use, but it worked. Bit by bit, Mann made it smaller, lighter, and more useful.”,表明WearComp虽然使用不方便,但能工作,且后来被改进得更有用,说明它是实用的。
41.文章最后一段指出“A lot of what I do seems ahead of its time.”,且全文围绕Mann的发明大多领先于时代展开,所以“An Inventor Ahead of His Time”作为标题最合适。

Zhang Tanhao, a young man in his 20s, loves Peking Opera. Because of this love, he decided to work with his friends to turn a famous Chinese cartoon, Hulu Xiao Jin Gang, into a Peking Opera show! The cartoon is very popular with people born in the 1990s and 2000s.
Zhang’s love for Peking Opera began in high school. At that time, he showed an interest in gufeng music. It mixes traditional Chinese singing with pop. “I was drawn to the singing (唱腔) in these songs. It made me want to learn Peking Opera and sing it myself,” Zhang said. Then he began to teach himself by watching videos online and take lessons from a teacher in his hometown in Jilin. It was hard at first, but he practised every day and never gave up.
In 2021, Zhang went to South-Central Minzu University in Wuhan, Hubei. The hot and dry weather there made his voice sound tired and he had difficulty singing. So he started to learn a special Peking Opera skill called qiaogong. The skill requires actors to wear tall shoes and balance on their tiptoes (脚尖). Sometimes, they even have to jump on chairs or move around! “At first, just standing on the ground was difficult,” Zhang said. “I fell many times, but with more practice, it became easier.” It was this skill that gave Zhang the idea to turn Hulu Xiao Jin Gang into a Peking Opera show. He thought qiaogong would be perfect for showing the movements of the snake character from the cartoon.
Zhang and his team worked hard to make the show more accessible (容易理解的) to young people. “I hope this work will help them see, understand and fall in love with Peking Opera.” he said.

“Ants share their habitats ___ many other species and play an important part in nature.”中,share...with...“和……
“ants are ___ teamwork and strength.”中,a symbol of“……
58.句意:例如,一些蚂蚁甚至能用身体搭成梯子来帮助同伴攀爬!“some ants can even use their bodies to build a ___ to help their friends climb!”
“we must try to ___ pollution and stop global warming.”

42.When did Zhang Tanhao start to love Peking Opera?
43.How did Zhang Tanhao learn Peking Opera?

45.What can you learn from Zhang Tanhao ?

42.When did Zhang Tanhao start to love Peking Opera?
43.How did Zhang Tanhao learn Peking Opera?

45.What can you learn from Zhang Tanhao ?
