Passage 1
(2026·浙江台州·二模)While ball games and chess dominate the spotlight, some unusual sports remain off the radar but they’re just as thrilling! These activities not only lift your spirits but also bring back the true essence of sports: FUN! Here are four fascinating examples:
Quidditch
Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, this magical game is now a real international sport. Each team has seven players, and every player must keep a broom between their legs from start to finish. Combining elements of rugby and dodgeball, it’s called “Muggle Quidditch” since non-magical folks play it without magic.
Yubi Lakpi
This traditional Indian game resembles football, but with a twist — players use a coconut instead of a ball. Two teams compete to carry the coconut into the opponent’s goal area. To make the game more challenging, players apply oil to their bodies, making them slippery and hard to grab. Tough enough? Give it a try!
Zorbing
Imagine rolling downhill inside a giant plastic ball. That’s zorbing! It first originated in New Zealand in the 1990s and has grown into a popular outdoor adventure activity around the world. Usually done on gentle slopes or flat ground, it’s more about the joy of rolling than competition. Perfect for a fun day out with friends!
Toe Wrestling
Yes, it’s real and it even has a World Championship! Similar to arm wrestling, opponents try to pin each other’s toes down for three seconds. Matches alternate between left and right feet, with the best of three rounds deciding the winner. So kick off your shoes and socks. It’s toe-wrestling time!
1.What must Quidditch players do throughout the game?
A.Control the team with magic.
B.Pass a rugby ball to other folks.
C.Hold a broom between their legs.
D.Obey rules from the Harry Potter series.
2.How do players make it difficult for the opposing team in Yubi Lakpi?
A.By wetting the fields.
B.By oiling themselves.
C.By polishing the coconuts.
D.By blocking the opponents.
3.What do Zorbing and Toe Wrestling have in common?
A.Both take place on gentle slopes.
B.Both involve close-body contact.
C.Both qualify as championship events.
D.Both feature fun-oriented recreation.
【答案】1.C 2.B 3.D

Similar to arm wrestling, opponents try to pin each other’s toes down for three seconds. Matches alternate between left and right feet, with the best of three rounds deciding the winner. So kick off your shoes and socks. It’s toe-wrestling time!

Passage 6
(2026·浙江·二模)Inspired by The Economist’s recent alternative summer reading list for CEOs, the 10Eighty, a leading HR consultancy firm, offers the following suggestions for summer reading.
The Undercover Economist
A favourite of the 10Eighty team is Tim Harford’s The Undercover Economist — if you’ve ever wondered why the gap between the rich and the poor is so great, then this book is for you. Relatable and engaging, Harford highlights the relevance of economics to everyday life, from buying a coffee to sitting in a traffic jam. He exposes how coffee shops, supermarkets and airlines convince us to part with our money, shedding light on how to apply economic principles to everyday life.
Slow Productivity
10Eighty’s researcher also recommends Slow Productivity by Cal Newport for the summer reading list. In the modern workplace workers feel pushed to the edge by continual meetings, overflowing inboxes, non-stop busywork, and office rules that laugh at autonomy and agency. Newport offers alternative strategies for knowledge workers to do the best work of their lives by taking a slower approach to work that matters.
Tom Sawyer
Few books are better at sparking eagerness to act than Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer. Forced to paint a fence white rather than play with his friends, naughty Tom finds a way to make it seem so appealing that the local kids want to do it — and end up paying Tom for the privilege. Business-school professors call it “psychic rewards”.
What is your favorite from this summer reading list? Why not share your ideas with us below?
1.How does Tim Harford make economics accessible in The Undercover Economist?
A.By analyzing economic theories in depth. B.By revealing how businesses fuel spending.
C.By explaining the cause of the wealth gap. D.By connecting economic concepts to daily life.
2.What does Cal Newport suggest knowledge workers do?
A.Follow office rules strictly. B.Accelerate work pace.
C.Slow down to tackle key tasks. D.Schedule frequent meetings.
3.According to the passage, why is Tom Sawyer recommended for summer reading?
A.It stimulates motivation effectively. B.It describes the life of a clever boy.
C.It tells an exciting kids’ adventure tale. D.It shows how to deal with naughty kids.

Passage 7
(2026·浙江绍兴·模拟预测)Some of the world’s most breathtaking iconic places invite you in — but insist you experience their magic with your eyes, not your camera. Below, we tour four legendary spots and uncover the little-known stories behind each “no-photo” rules.
Neuschwanstein Castle
Also called “the castle of the fairytale king”, this 19th-century palace is among the most visited castles in Germany and the world. Sadly, no photography or filming is allowed inside, but at least you can capture its Disney princess castle vibes from the outside.
Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey isn’t just a gorgeous Gothic church; it’s been the coronation (加冕) church of British monarchs since 1066. Yet no matter how historic or breathtaking it may be, you’re not allowed to take photos inside it. Luckily, there’s a pretty good reason for it, according to the church’s website: “We want you to take in its unique beauty and history without the distractions that widespread photography would bring. We want to maintain the sacred and intimate atmosphere of a building which is, above all, a living, working church.”
The Sistine Chapel
The Sistine Chapel in Vatican City is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, which is why it’s annoying that tourists aren’t allowed to take photos or videos inside. The chapel went under restoration work from 1980 to 1994, which was funded by Japan. In return, Japan got exclusive rights to film and photograph the artwork. That copyright expired (失效) three years after the restoration, but the Vatican decided to keep the photography ban in place to protect the precious artwork from harmful camera flashes.
Tower of London
There’s a lot to see in the Tower of London: the architecture, armor from past royalty, historic artifacts, the Beefeater tour. Arguably the most prized feature is the jewel House, which has housed the exquisite Crown Jewels since 1661. Sadly, you can’t take photos of the Crown Jewels for security reasons. And with the intimidating security guards watching your every move as you walk through the jewel House, you won’t want to even try.
1.Why does Westminster Abbey forbid visitors to take pictures inside?
A.To reduce distractions during church services.
B.To let tourists focus on its charm and holiness.
C.To protect the ancient walls from camera flashes.
D.To prevent the secret coronation ritual being leaked.
2.Which place observes the photo ban mainly for security concerns?
A.Neuschwanstein Castle. B.Westminster Abbey.
C.The Sistine Chapel. D.Tower of London.
3.Where is the passage most probably taken from?
A.A travel guidebook. B.A history textbook.
C.A photography manual. D.A scientific research.

根据Tower of London部分“Sadly, you can’t take photos of the Crown Jewels for security reasons. (遗憾的是,出于安全原因,你不能拍摄王冠珠宝)”可知,伦敦塔禁拍主要是出于安全考虑。故选D项。
3.推理判断题。根据第一段“Some of the world’s most breathtaking iconic places invite you in — but insist you experience their magic with your eyes, not your camera. Below, we tour four legendary spots and uncover the little-known stories behind each “no-photo” rules.

3.What do Zorbing and Toe Wrestling have in common?
A.Both take place on gentle slopes.
B.Both involve close-body contact.
C.Both qualify as championship events.
D.Both feature fun-oriented recreation.
