We can send those to people in Mexico,” said Brett. “Brett, that’s brilliant!” said Ava, “you, Melanie and I, and anyone else in the school, can bring in our extra clothes and blankets to help people in Mexico.” The students talked to Mr. Kent about how they could collect clothes and blankets. Some kids were going to put up signs saying “Blanket Drive”. Other kids were writing a newsletter. Everyone was going to ask their friends and relatives for clothes and blankets. Brett was put in charge of stacking all the clothes and blankets in the gym.
News of the Blanket Drive spread, and people living all over the city brought in more clothes and blankets. Everyone in town was talking about the Blanket Drive. The local television station sent a camera crew (摄制组) to the school. The reporter wanted to know whose idea this was.

Q3: How do you raise money?
I tell everyone I meet about Olivia’s Heroes and ask them to visit the museum. I go around my community, knocking on doors and speaking at events to let people know how they can help. I’ve also found supporters like ice-cream sales and a golf competition to help.

“It was a pretty special house,” said Tragos, who ran away with her parents, her younger sister and their three dogs when the fire broke out on January 7th, 2025. All the teenager took with her was her high school diploma (毕业证书).
A few days after the fire, Tragos’s friend shared with her a video: a L. A.artist offering to create, for free, watercolor paintings of people’s homes before they were burnt. Tragos contacted the artist, Jordan Heber, asking if she could paint Tragos’s home.“I want to do it as a surprise to my family,” she wrote. Tragos sent a photo to Heber, who completed a painting of Tragos’s home in three days.“A home is more than just a house where we keep our things,” said Heber.
Heber works as a designer and paints in her free time, usually charging $300 to $400 for a house drawing. After the fire began, Heber kept thinking about how she could help. Seeing another local artist offering free house drawings, she was encouraged. “This will be my way to help,” said Heber.
She posted her offer on social media, and messages poured in. Heber has painted over fifty houses, including one for Jeremy Wineberg, whose family home was also destroyed.
“It was a place you never wanted to leave,” said Wineberg. When the fire came, he escaped with his two dogs, taking only a blanket. “Heber’s painting means the world to me. I’ve lost almost everything, but a piece like this—something that brings back what ‘home’ meant—gives me strength.”
Heber is glad that people find her paintings meaningful, saying, “Hopefully it encourages others to use their talents to help people.”

(2026·浙江金华·模拟预测)In 2026, the “Love Meal (❤)” public welfare project has been widely carried out across China, warming millions of workers with new employment forms. These people, including delivery riders, couriers and online car-hailing drivers, are the silent contributors to our cities. They rush through the streets from dawn to dusk, rain or shine, to make our daily life more convenient. However, for a long time, they struggled to have a hot, cheap and nutritious meal. Their tight work schedules and irregular working hours left them little time to sit down for a proper meal, which became a small but real trouble in their work and life.
To solve this problem and show sincere care, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions joined hands with a national shopping platform and over 100,000 restaurants nationwide. The government, platforms and restaurants share the meal cost together, greatly reducing the workers’ economic burden.
Now they can get a warm meal with meat and vegetable dishes for only about 8 yuan. Special service points are set up in logistics parks, business districts and other busy areas; with a quick QR code scan, they can get meals in 30 seconds without waiting. Many cities add warm details: some offer local food coupons, others provide “no-get-off” service for riders to save time.
This project is more than just a meal—it’s the whole society’s thanks to them, letting every hard-working person feel the warmth of the city and know their efforts are worthy and seen.
1.Why couldn’t the new workers have good meals before?
A.They lacked money for nutritious meals. B.They were too busy for hot and cheap meals.
C.They can’t find restaurants when working. D.They disliked the taste of restaurant food.
2.Who launched the 2026 “Love Meal” project?
A.Local government. B.A national platform.
C.Local restaurant owners. D.Business districts.
3.What do we know about the “Love Meal” project?
A.It only serves delivery riders. B.Workers need to wait long.
C.It makes city contributors feel care. D.Its meals are more expensive.
4.Which is the best title for the passage?
A.Hard-Working Silent City Contributors B.A New Employment Form in 2026
C.Warm Meals, Warm Hearts in 2026 D.Different Local Delicious Meals in China
1.第一段明确指出:“However, for a long time, they struggled to have a hot, cheap and nutritious meal. Their tight work schedules and irregular working hours left them little time to sit down for a proper meal”,说明这些新就业形态劳动者之前因为工作繁忙、工作时间不规律,没有时间坐下来好好吃饭,因此难以吃上热乎乎、便宜且有营养的饭菜。
2.第二段明确指出:“the All-China Federation of Trade Unions joined hands with a national shopping platform and over 100,000 restaurants nationwide”,说明该项目由中华全国总工会联合一个全国性购物平台及全国超过10万家餐厅共同发起。
3.最后一段明确指出:“This project is more than just a meal—it’s the whole society’s thanks to them, letting every hard-working person feel the warmth of the city”,说明该项目让城市贡献者感受到了关怀。
4.全文围绕2026年“爱心餐”公益项目展开,介绍了项目的背景、发起方式、具体措施及其社会意义,温暖人心的餐食与温暖人心的社会关怀相呼应,因此最合适的标题是“2026年,暖餐暖心”。

In September 2021, Xu joined a pilot project about the silver-age teacher action started by the Ministry of Education. The purpose of this project was to use the rich experience and knowledge of retired (退休) teachers to improve the education of universities in western China.
