Why are blackboards green?

Take a close look at the blackboard in your classroom. You will see that it is not actually black. It is dark green. Green is more comfortable(舒适的) for us to look at for a long time. It makes our eyes less tired. Did you know? The first blackboards were really black. People invented them 200 years ago. Green blackboards didn’t come out till the 1990s.

Can eating too many carrots (胡萝卜) turn you orange?

The answer is yes. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene (β—胡萝卜素). It is good for your eyes. But eating too much of it can make your skin yellow or orange. Don’t worry. This is not harmful to your body. The colour will go away after a few days. It is best to eat one carrot or just half of a carrot a day.

Why do pen caps have holes?

The little holes are air holes. They can protect people. Some people like to bite pen caps and might swallow them carelessly. If this happens, the holes can let the air go in and people can still breathe (呼吸).
