B.根据短文内容选择最恰当的答案。 (每题2分,共10分)
Fish often travel in groups. Later, they change the shape of the group together. Is there a director among them? No! Each fish finds the right direction on its own. Scientists have long wondered why this situation is so common. Now some researchers think they have an idea: It saves the fish energy.
Thousands of fish can swim together, sometimes they move slowly and beautifully. Other times, they will rush quickly in one direction and then another.
A new study has compared the energy a fish uses as it swims. “Moving in a group reduces the energy a fish uses by more than half,” says George Lauder, a fish researcher at Harvard University. He even worked with giant danio (巨型斑马鱼) —a kind of small fish. They love to swim in groups. Sometimes he put eight at a time into a water box shaped like a racetrack (跑道). Other times, he just put in a single fish. The danio didn’t swim around the box like race cars. Instead, they swam in one area, like a runner on a treadmill (跑步机). When they “ran”, a motor pushed the box’s water around. This created a current (水流).
As the fish swam, a special instrument checked how much O2 they used. As we all know, people who run a short distance very fast use a lot of O2. They usually need some time to get well again. Here, the researchers used O2 as a standard of how much energy the fish used to swim. To make them swim fast, the researchers increased the speed of the water current. When they slowed the water down, the fish slowed down, too.
Fish groups used less O2 than when they swam alone. And they took less time to get well again. In other words, they could catch their breath after travelling in groups more easily. By travelling in groups, fish can save their energy for other important things. For example, if fish are young, they can put that energy into growth. As adults, they can use it to produce young or to avoid killers.
37.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Changing the direction of the group. B.Swimming in groups in water.
C.Finding the right group themselves. D.Moving slowly and beautifully.
38.How did the danio swim in the box?
A.Around the box like race cars. B.With their shapes changing.
C.Forward and backward all the time. D.Against the current in one place.
39.What’s the correct order of George Lauder’s experiment?
a. The current appeared because the box’s water was pushed around.
b. How much O₂ the danio had used was found out.
c. The danio were put into a racetrack-shaped water box.
d. The danio changed their speed according to the speed of the water current.
A.c-a-d-b B.a-c-b-d C.c-b-a-d D.a-c-d-b
40.What can we know about the fish according to the study?
A.They only travel in groups in one direction.
B.They can’t catch their breath if they swim alone.
C.They can drive away killers when swimming alone.
D.They can save energy to produce young.
41.What does the passage mainly talk about?
A.How fish often travel in water. B.What fish use their energy to do.
C.Why fish often travel in groups. D.Whether human can learn from fish.
六、完形填空(共12分)
A new kind of digital art creation, known as AI art, has been in 42 for several years. It is considered by many people as a significant modern innovation that mixes technology with human creativity.
AI art is created using artificial intelligence. An artist types a sentence, called a “prompt”, into a computer programme. The programme then uses a huge database of images to generate a new picture based on the words. This means anyone can create complex digital artworks, even 43 traditional drawing skills.
This new invention has started many discussions in the art world. Some people worry that AI art is not real art because a machine makes it. Others feel it is a powerful new tool that can help people 44 their ideas in amazing ways. For professional artists, it can be 45 useful for quickly creating early drafts and exploring new styles.
The technology also raises questions about money and value. Some AI-generated artworks have sold for high prices. However, because the AI learns from the existing art made by humans, there are debates about who really owns the new creation. Is it the person who wrote the prompt, the programmer who made the AI, or the artists whose work the AI learned from? Clear rules will make it 46 for this new market to grow fairly.
Despite the debates, AI art is becoming more popular. It is changing how we think about art and artists. Learning to use these new tools can be a valuable skill for the future. However, many believe it is 47 the end of traditional art, but rather a new, additional way for people to be creative.

七、任务型阅读(共12分)
Read the passage and answer the following questions. (根据短文内容,回答下列问题)
Seba Stephens is only 10 years old, but he’s a very talented musician. He plays the drums, bass, guitar, and piano.
Seba grew up with music all around. Before he turned three, his parents asked him what he wanted for his birthday. “Drums!” he answered. His parents weren’t sure, but after seeing him play the drums at a local music store, they decided he was serious. They bought him a junior drum kit (小型架子鼓). “He didn’t stop playing—ever,” says his dad.
But two months later, Seba grew upset. He couldn’t make the sounds he wanted with his junior drum kit. His parents bought him a professional drum kit and signed him up for lessons. In just a few months, his drum teacher reported that Seba was learning extremely quickly and needed a higher level of training. He was still four.
Seba started a band in kindergarten. In the first grade, he began earning money by playing music.
In 2020, Seba joined a summer music program at Berklee College of Music (伯克利音乐学院) as an 8-year-old boy. He studied bass in an online program. To keep up, he had to practice up to 36 hours a week.
After the busy summer, Seba made a decision to be home-schooled (to be educated at home instead of being sent to school) by his parents so that he could keep going to Berklee during the school year. He did schoolwork in the mornings. In the afternoons he worked on music. And at night he usually worked on music some more.
In May, 2021, Seba became the youngest person ever to receive a professional certificate from Berklee. The certificate is equal to about four college-level classes.
When he’s old enough, Seba hopes to go to college at Berklee. For now, he’s still practicing and playing.
Task1:
48.Seba isn’t a talented musician, is he?
49.What did Seba want for his third birthday?
50.Why did Seba grow upset two months after he received his present?
51.How old was Seba when he joined a summer music program at Berklee College of Music?

【答案】37.B 38.D 39.A 40.D 41.C
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了鱼群为何喜欢成群游动,以及相关的实验研究与结论。
37.根据第一段中“Fish often travel in groups... It saves the fish energy.”可知,文中“It”指代的是鱼在水中成群游动这一行为。故选B。
38.根据第三段中“The danio didn’t swim around the box like race cars. Instead, they swam in one area...a motor pushed the box’s water around. This created a current.”
故选A。
40.根据第五段中“By travelling in groups, fish can save their energy for other important things... As adults, they can use it to produce young...”

52.What did Seba decide to do after the summer online program?
Task2:
53.What do you think leads to Seba’s success in music? (请写出三个方面的因素)
【答案】48.Yes, he is. 49.He wanted drums for his third birthday. 50.Because he couldn’t make the sounds he wanted with his junior drum kit. 51.He was 8 years old. 52.He decided to be home-schooled by his parents. 53.His great musical talent, hard practice and his parents’ great support lead to his success in music.
【导语】本文讲述了10岁的天才音乐家Seba Stephens的音乐成长历程。
