The earth has many amazing landscapes, and four main types are the most famous: oceans, deserts, forests and rivers.
Oceans are the largest landscapes on the earth. They cover more than two-thirds of the earth’s surface. The Pacific Ocean is the biggest ocean in the world. Oceans are home to more than 80% of all living things on the earth. Many animals live in the deep ocean, and we still know little about them.
Deserts are dry places. They get less than 250 mm of rain every year. The Sahara Desert in Africa is the largest hot desert in the world. Deserts are not always hot—some deserts are very cold, like Antarctica. Only a small number of plants and animals can live in deserts, because of the terrible living conditions.
Forests are the lungs of the earth. They produce oxygen for us to breathe. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world. Forests are very important for the earth. They keep the climate balanced, and provide food and home for many animals.
Rivers are the blood of the earth. They carry fresh water from high mountains to lakes and oceans. The Nile River in Africa is the longest river in the world, and the Yangtze River is the longest in China. Rivers give life to people, animals and plants. People build cities near rivers, and grow crops with river water.

D. To show the importance of fresh water for humans.
C
Nowadays, more and more people love to travel to enjoy beautiful natural landscapes. But while we enjoy the beauty of nature, we often bring problems to the environment.
Many travellers leave rubbish everywhere when they visit natural parks. The plastic bottles, food bags and other rubbish not only make the landscape look ugly, but also hurt wild animals. Animals may eat the rubbish by mistake and get sick, or even die. Some travellers carve words on the rocks or trees, which damages the natural landscape forever. Some people drive cars into the grassland, which kills the plants and destroys the home of small animals.
Luckily, more and more people have realized the problem. They start to travel in a "green" way. They take their rubbish away when they leave, they don’t pick flowers or damage trees, and they follow the rules of the natural parks. They choose to walk or ride bikes instead of driving cars when they visit the scenic spots. They also take photos of the beautiful landscapes and share them online, to call on more people to protect nature.
Beautiful landscapes are gifts from nature. They are not just for us to enjoy now, but also for the future generations. We should always remember: when we travel, take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints.
( )36. What problem do travellers bring to the natural landscapes?
A. They leave rubbish everywhere.

A. Driving cars into the grassland to take photos.
B. Taking all the rubbish away after travelling.
C. Picking beautiful flowers from the forest.
D. Carving your name on the famous rocks.
( )39. Why do people share photos of landscapes online?
A. To show how beautiful they are.
B. To remember their happy trips.
C. To ask more people to protect nature.
D. To tell their friends where to travel.
